The Dalles Chronicle, October 27, 2005
     Arden Meredith Jordan, 93, a former resident of Rufus, died at a care 
facility in The Dalles on Oct. 25, 2005.
     She was born on March 5, 1912 in Hood River, the younger of two children 
to Charles Horus and Anna (Eadelman) Stranahan. 
     She married Ernest Leonard M. Jordan in Goldendale on Aug. 16, 1938. They 
made their home in The Dalles area until they moved to Rufus upon her 
husband’s retirement in 1960. She was a post master in Rufus until her 
retirement in the early 1970’s. 
     She enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and visiting family. She was a 
member of the Retired Post Master Association, National Association of Federal 
Employ Retirees, Home Extension of Sherman County and City of Rufus City 
Council.
     She is survived by a niece, Muriel Smith, Gresham; a nephew, Harrell 
Smith, Sacramento, Calif.; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and a 
close friend, Chuck Smith, The Dalles.
     She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernest L. Jordan and 
her sister Denelda “Dee” Smith.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home 
on Friday, Oct. 28, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 
a.m. until the service at 2 p.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oregon Heart Association, 
1425 NE Irving #100, Portland, OR 97232-4201.
