     Margaret Bonney Kimsey, 94, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local 
care center on Feb. 4, 1996.
     She was born Sept. 17, 1901 at Tygh Valley to Clyde T. Bonney and Martha 
Carson (Mayes) Bonney.
     Her grandparents, the A. A. Bonneys of near Tygh Valley, were pioneer 
settlers.
     She attended school in The Dalles and graduated from high school in 
Antelope.  She attended business college in Portland.
     She met her husband, Dolph, in high school.  They were married on Sept. 
9, 1922.  He died in 1973.
     Their married life started on the Kimsey ranch and they moved to The 
Dalles in 1936.  She started her working career in 1939 as a secretary, then 
was acting manager of the Chamber of Commerce, a broadcaster with KODL and was 
sales clerk, manager and buyer for The Paris Dress Shop (Lance Apparel).
     She won the Woman of the Year award in 1968.  She retired from her career 
in 1969.
     She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, the Old Wasco 
County Pioneer Association, Chapter Q, PEO.  She was named Pioneer Woman of 
the Year in 1988.
     Survivors include her son, Duff and his wife, Myrtle; a grandson, Mike 
Kimsey, Portland; a granddaughter, Sharon McElhaney, Portland; three great-
grandsons; Sean McElhaney, Molalla, and Erik and Ethan Kimsey; and one great 
granddaughter, Mara Kathleen McElhaney.
     Memorial services will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at Smith 
Callaway Chapel.  Private interment will be at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to charities of the donors choice.
