     Elva May Kramer, 84, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home Friday, 
Aug. 27, 2004.
     She was born Aug. 14, 1920 in Chicago, the oldest of two children to 
Clement and Henrietta (Miller) Hillebrand. She was raised in Chicago and 
graduated from high school in 1938.
     She married John Kramer on May 18, 1940 in Chicago, and they moved to The 
Dalles in 1945. 
     In the early 1960’s, she graduated with the first class from The Dalles 
School of Beauty and operated her own beauty shop in her home for many years. 
     She was a member of The Dalles Senior Center and the Senior Center 
Serenaders, loved her family and enjoyed swimming.
     She is survived by her daughters, Sherry and her husband, Gene Armstrong, 
Yakima, Wash.; Sharla and her husband, Gale Dahlberg, The Dalles; Sheila 
Kinrade, The Dalles; six grandchildren, Marc and his wife, Yvette Jackson, 
Wasco; John, Jeff and Cara Carrell, all of The Dalles; Ron Walters and Randa 
Mattson, both of Vancouver, Wash.; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-
grandchildren; extended family, Bruce Echizen and Linda Jackson; and numerous 
nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kramer in 
1991, her son, John David Kramer in 1955, her granddaughter, Rena Michelle 
Knott in 1970 and her brother, Donald Clement Hillebrand.
     A celebration of life service will be held at the family home, 500 East 
12th Street, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3. Private cremation was held at The 
Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care 
of arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of The Gorge, 751 Myrtle
