The Dalles Chronicle, March 3, 2006
     Willetta Alberta Howard Sindt Leabo, 86, a resident of Overland Park, 
Kan., died on Feb. 20, 2006.
     She was born Aug. 11, 1919 in Hood River, one of four children to Marion 
Legan Howard and Emma Florence (Wentworth) Howard. She grew up in Oregon and 
Iowa while her widowed mother did whatever it took to keep her four children 
in her care.
     She married George Timm Sindt in Maryville, Mo. on Nov. 6, 1941, and they 
raised four children in Shelby and Harlan, Iowa. He died of cancer on April 5, 
1974.
     She worked as a nurse at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. 
Following her husband’s death, she worked as a live-in nurse for several 
families.
     She married Jesse Daniel “Dan” Leabo on June 3, 1979 in Salt Lake City. 
They lived in The Dalles until 2001, when they moved to Kansas to live with 
her son Robert and his family.
     Dan died Jan. 17, 2006 from complications related to Parkinson’s disease.
She is survived by her sons, Rev. Marion Sindt of Radcliff, Iowa, John Sindt 
of Sandy, Utah, and Robert Sindt of Overland Park, Kan., daughter Julie 
Bruderer of Sandy, Utah, 21 grandchildren, 45 greatgrandchildren and one 
greatgreat- granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister Elba Grosvenor 
and husband Del of Woodbine Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Brent and her 
sister Carolyn.
     Services were held in Independence, Mo. where she was buried beside her 
first husband.
     Mt. Washington Forever Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
