The Dalles Chronicle, July 14, 2005
     Rickie Gene Manes, 54, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on 
Tuesday, July 12. 
     He was born Feb. 18, 1951 in Bolivar, Mo., the oldest of five children. 
He graduated from Stevenson High School in Stevenson. After high school, he 
attended Longview Lower Community College, in Longview, Wash., for two years. 
     He lived in Longview for 28 years and moved to The Dalles in 2000. While 
he worked, he was a brick layer with the Laborers International Union of North 
America.
     He was an active member with the Laborers International Union of North 
America, and enjoyed Harley Davidson motor cycles.
     He is survived by his mother, Gracie Harkrader, Dufur; step-father, Earl 
Anderson, Dufur; his daughter, Kimberley Manes; grandchildren, Haylee and 
Taylor Manes; brother, Terry Harkrader and his wife, Denise, The Dalles; 
sisters, Vickie Otwell and her husband, Terry, Oklahoma; Hallie Davidson, 
Woodland, Wash.; Barbara Pizzola and her husband, Rod, The Dalles; nieces, 
Misty Davidson and Amber Pizzola; nephews, Mathew and Michael Simpson.      He 
was preceded in death by his lifelong companion, Natalie Burton.
     At his request, no services will be held. Cremation was held at The 
Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care 
of arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 751 Myrtle 
Street, The Dalles, OR 97058. The family would like to extend a special thanks 
to Hope, of Hospice of the Gorge.
