The Dalles Chronicle,  June 10, 2004
     Wilma Fay Martin, 73, a former resident of The Dalles and Arlington and a 
resident of Sweet Home, died in a Corvallis hospital on June 8, 2004.
     She was born Aug. 27, 1930 in Rich Hill, Mo., the daughter of Noel Daniel 
and Loretta Jane Harmon Derr. She moved to Washington at the age of 13 and to 
The Dalles at age 16.
     In The Dalles she met Roy Charles Martin on a blind date and several 
months later they were married on July 2, 1949 in The Dalles.
     They moved to Warm Springs Junction, Odell Lake and for eight years lived 
in Sweet Home before moving to Arlington in 1964. For two years she cooked at 
the high school there. They returned to Sweet Home in 1990.
     She was a homemaker who loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed 
occasional trips to the coast, camping, sewing, crocheting and knitting, and 
enjoyed trips to Alaska and Yellowstone National Park.
     Survivors include her husband, Roy; daughter, Sheryl Brice, Coburg; and 
son, Dan, Government Camp; one grandchild; three step grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sally 
Wallace, Sweet Home, and Barbara Hille, Washington.
     A celebration of life will be held at a short graveside farewell 
gathering will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the I.O.O.F. 
Cemetery on Cherry Heights Rd. in The Dalles, Oregon. At approximately 2:00 PM 
there will be a potluck at Sorosis Park, 350 E. Scenic Dr., The Dalles, Oregon.
     In lieu of flowers, those who wish can make a donation to the charity of 
their choice in memory of Wilma Martin.
