He was a well-known businessman in the area for many years. Mr. McDonald was born May 1, 1892, in Portland and moved to Maupin in 1919, working at the Maupin State Bank until 1939 when he moved to Dufur. In Dufur, he worked at the Johnson Brothers Bank until it was purchased by US National Bank in 1954. He continued to operate an insurance business in Maupin until 1964. He moved to The Dalles in 1982. Mr. McDonald was a member of First Christian Church and Ramsey Park Grange. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge here for 47 years and the IOOF for 62 years. He is survived by his wife of 13-1/2 years, Ruth, of The Dalles; numerous step- children, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Asa Jensen. Active pallbearers were Bill Hulse, Henry Regnier, Wayne Bothwell, Gil Hertel, Wayne Tienhaara and Don Duvall. Honorary pall bearers were Paul Hulse, Jack Miller, Robert Holman, Massey Ashley and Merlin Sasser. Memorials are suggested to the Mid-Columbia Senior Center.
