The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 10, 1984
     Margaret T. Newton, 74, died Sunday, May 6, in Portland.  She resided in 
Portland.

     Mrs. Newton was born in The Dalles in 1910, and lived in The Dalles until 
her marriage to Clem Welk.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thode, 
who ran a saloon in The Dalles.  She married Charles Newton, who died eight 
years ago.  There are no survivors.

     Funeral services were at Riverview Abbey Chapel in Portland Wednesday, 
May 9.
