Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 30, 2006, 3:44 pm The Dalles Chronicle, August 22, 2006 Richard Henry Robideau, 74, a longtime resident of The Dalles, died Aug. 12, 2006 at home with his wife and four sons by his side. He was born April 2, 1932 at Molt, Mont., to Frank and May (Dietzel) Robideau. He left Montana at an early age and moved to The Dalles where he attended school. On April 29, 1955, he married Nancy Elizabeth Leabo at Stevenson. The couple had four sons; Richard Jr., Ronald, Joseph and John. Because of job transfers the family lived in, Lowell, Dexter, Eagle Point, White City, and The Dalles. During the Korena War he served his country in the United States Army where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He served as Commander of the American Legion The Dalles Post #19 and was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars The Dalles Post #2471. He worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, in power house operation for over 30 years and retired in 1986. He enjoyed his family, friends and his dog “Lady.” He also enjoyed deer hunting, camping and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy E. Robideau, The Dalles; sons Richard Henry Robideau Jr. (and his wife, Shirl), Yakima, Wash.; Ronald R. Robideau (and his wife, Susan), Sedro Wooley, Wash.; Joseph A. Robideau (and his wife, Trish), Powell Butte; and John F. Robideau (and his wife, Leanna), Troutdale; grandchildren Cassie, Beth, Beau, Lauren, John H., Fran, Paul, Jeff and Jim; great grandchildren; Richard D., Patrick, Christian, Jasmine, Austin, Cooper and Laura; sisters Phyllis Jean Wildrick, Henderson, Nev.; Cleo Jane Lamb, The Dalles; and Wanda “Rosie” Dillard, The Dalles; and other distant family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Lester Denison, sisters Florence Darlene Hawthorne and Eva May Brown and brother Phillip Joseph Robideau. The family suggests that memorials be made in his memory to Hospice of the Gorge, The Dalles, Oregon c/o Anderson’s Tribute Center.
