She was a longtime smoker who said “don’t smoke!” She was born in Kent, on Jan. 15, 1928, the third of five children to Amandus (Tuffy) and Emily (Loeffel) vonBorstel. She married Frank Sayrs on Feb. 1, 1948. They have two children, Tony Sayrs of Moro, and Melissa Sayrs of Tigard. Her husband Frank died in 1980. She attended the University of Oregon for two years, and also went to floral school in Portland. She worked at Sigman’s Flowers from 1972 until 1979; Zell Brother’s Flowers in Portland. She loved flowers; she enjoyed gardening. Her other interests were weather watching, cooking, reading, and playing bridge. She is survived by her granddaughter Yenika, and two great-grandchildren; Gavin and Geronimo, all of Hawaii; her brother, Fred vonBorstel and his wife, Diane, and numerous nieces and nephews.
