He was born March 23, 1934, in The Dalles, the youngest of four sons to Oliver Edward and Ethyle Ona (Bleakney) Schadewitz. He was raised in Wasco County and attended schools in southern Wasco County and The Dalles. He married Carlene Sandra Leed on Sept. 17, 1955, in The Dalles. He worked in the auto body repair business and from the mid-60's to the early 70's, operated the body shop at C.H. Urness Motors. In 1972, he started "Cecil's Auto Repair Shop" located at his home on West Seventh Street, retiring in 1996 for health reasons. He was well known as a gifted artist when it came to restoring antique cars. He was a member of the Antique Collector Car Club, the Moose and Eagles Lodges and the American Legion. He enjoyed his family, visiting with friends and playing pool. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Bailey, The Dalles; three daughters and their spouses, Connie and her husband, David Hart, McMinnville; Vicki and her husband, Willis Anderson, Semi Valley, Calif.; Sandy and her husband, Jim Listenberger, Hillsboro; one son, Rick and his wife, Carrie Schadewitz, The Dalles; eight grandchildren, Cheryl Pankey, Michelle Russell, Steven Hickey, Dayna Johnson, Amber Listenberger, Zachary Schadewitz, Aaryn Anderson and Drew Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Hickey, Jordan Russell and Madison Parker; his brother, James and his wife, Helen Schadewitz, Idaho; three step- children, Cheryl and her husband, Ron Gehrig; Allan and his wife, Kate Bailey and Terry and his wife, Lisa Bailey, all of Hood River; 12 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlene in October 1996 and two brothers, Victor and Charles. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, 8:30 until 10 a.m. Graveside services will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road on Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. with Rev.
