Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 17, 2006, 10:40 pm The Dalles Chronicle, January 15, 2006 Sterling Keith Shaver, 53, a resident of Dufur, lost his battle with brain cancer on Jan. 10, 2006. He was born in Taylorville, Ill. on July 2, 1952, the second of three children to Paul G. and Bobbie Lee Shaver. He grew up in Montana and Estacada. He moved to The Dalles in 1966. He then graduated from The Dalles High School in 1970. He was a resident of Dufur for 8 years. He managed the local United Agriculture Products office and took immense pride in his work. He formed a close working relationship with the local cherry growers. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his later years he found enjoyment in taking long road trips on his Harley Davidson. His greatest fondness of the past two years was his new-found faith. He was an enthusiastic bible student. He is survived by his mother, Bobbie Lee Ward; a sister, Paulette Brimmer and her husband, Michael; a brother, Robert Mark Shaver; a nephew, Lyall Paul Brimmer; an aunt and numerous cousins from Montana and Oregon. Memorial services will be held on Jan. 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2500 West Eighth Street in The Dalles. Private cremation was held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
