     Essie "Jean" Snyder, 90, a resident of Shelton, Wash., died at the local 
hospital in The Dalles on Monday, June 16, 2004.
     She was born June 8, 1914, on Kings Ranch near Matador, Texas, the 21st 
of 22 children to William Price Sterling and Louisa Foster (Rushing) Long. She 
grew up in Oklahoma and Texas. 
     She married Cedrick H. Palmer on June 6, 1931, in Duncan, Okla., and they 
returned to Kings Ranch. She traveled throughout the United States with 
Cedrick following work.
     She married Robert L. Snyder on April 15, 1977 in Sitka, Alaska, and they 
lived in Shelton. 
     She was a member of the Church of God in Yuma, Ariz., and Shelton. She 
enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, painting and gardening. 
     She is survived by her long -time companion, Leo Duffy, Yuma, Ariz.; five 
children, Jimmy Troy and his wife, Barbara Palmer, Albuquerque, N.M.; Gildford 
Dean and his wife, Betty Palmer, Shelton; Velda Bee Barker, Bonham, Texas; 
Vallerie Rejeanne and her husband, Richard Vickers, Cimmaron, N.M.; Lowell 
Edward and his wife, Joan Palmer, The Dalles; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-
grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; 43 combined nieces and nephews 
and a very large extended family. She was preceded in death by her husbands, 
Cedrick H. Palmer and Robert L. Snyder.
     Family graveside services will be held at Shelton Memorial Park at 2 
p.m., Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, with Rev. Gilford Palmer officiating.
     Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in The Dalles are in care of 
arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to Smokey Mountain Childrens Home, c/o 
Gilford D. Palmer, 624 South 14th St., Shelton, WA 98584.
