Duard "Duke" Ordale Stewart, 85, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care facility on Sunday, November 17, 2002. He was born May 25, 1917, in Eureka, Kansas, the second child to Roger Boone and Fannie Mae Stewart. He grew up in and graduated from high school in Eureka. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, and then returned to Santa Ana, California. He worked for Sears and Roebuck and attended L.I.F.E. bible College in Los Angeles (California). He graduated from college in 1952, then went (to) Brazil as a missionary until the mid 1990s. He lived in El Centro, California before moving to The Dalles in 2000, to be near family. Survivors include his children, Deloys Stewart-Agra and Duard Stephen Stewart, The Dalles, and Roger Boone Ferreira-Stewart, El Centro, California; grandchildren, Eliane, Lisa and Walter; his siblings, Marlin Stewart, San Diego, California; Evelyn Lucille Watson, El Centro; and Harold Douglas Stewart, Huntington Beach, California. Private family graveside services, with Veterans rites will be held at The Dalles Parklawn Cemetery on Thursday, November 21, with Pastor Fritz Stranz officiating.
