Thomas James Stover Obituary Surnames: Stover, Keil, Logue, Gardner, Laroque Thomas James "Jim" Stover, 70, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Thursday, January 23, 2003. He was born on July 30, 1932, in Nashua, Montana to Thomas Raymond and Muriel (Keil) Stover and grew up there. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and received the Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals. As a young man he came to The Dalles and married Donna Logue in 1960 and they had five children. He worked for many years as a plumber and retired from his own plumbing business. A cowboy at heart, he enjoyed watching rodeo sports, and had participated in rodeo as a bucking horse rider when he was a young man. When his sons started playing baseball he became very active in the Western Little League program, serving as a coach and also developing the playing fields in The Dalles. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and lending a helping hand to others. He is survived by his wife Donna, The Dalles, and by his children: sons, Thomas R. Stover, Lincoln City (Oregon); Ronald G. Stover, Toluca Lake, California; Gary D. Stover, Sheridan (Oregon); daughters Jan Stover Gardner, The Dalles; and Carla Rae Stover, San Diego, California; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Vivian Stover, Hashua, Montana; nine grandchildren; Trista Marie, Heather, Elisa, Marie, Jeff, Angela, Christie, and Nicholas Stover and Stacy Ann Laroque and two great- grandchildren, Stephen and Gwendolyn Laroque. At his request no public services will be held. Private interment was in the Veterans Garden of Parklawn Cemetery. The family will observe private ceremonies of remembrance. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Gorge, 715 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, Oregon 97058. Arrangements were by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
