The Dalles Weekly Reminder, September 18, 1987
Hugh Ralph Walter, 84, died in The Dalles Sept. 13.  He was a resident of the 
area for the last four months, formerly of Newport.

Mr. Walter was born in Albany on April 7, 1903.  He served in the U.S. Army 
during World War I., and worked as a cabinetmaker and contractor for years.  
He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Newport.

He is survived by his wife, Lucile Walter of The Dalles; two daughters, 
Patricia Dodds of Neskowin, Ore., Dee Weiss Dunn of The Dalles; a step-
daughter, Enid Zimmerly of Ridgefield, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-
grandchildren; a brother and a sister.

Funeral services were held at Newport followed by interment at Eureka Cemetery 
in Newport.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund in 
Newport.  Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
