Wakley iwakley@msn.com and July 23, 2006, 3:09 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 27, 1987 Grace F. White, 73, died at a local nursing home Feb. 13. She had been a resident of The Dalles for 30 years. Mrs. White was born in Greene, Iowa, on Nov. 4, 1913. She and her husband, Leo, moved to The Dalles shortly after their marriage in 1956. They owned and operated the Sunrise Diner, which was located across from Harvey Aluminum while it was being built in the late 1950s, and later they ran the cafeteria in the plant for two years. From 1959 to 1961, they owned and operated the Terminal Café, next to what is now Bunting’s Alignment. From 1965 to 1975, she managed the cafeteria at Wahtonka High School, and she and her husband ran the Antiques From White antique store from 1963 to 1985. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and was a Daughter of the American Revolution. She is survived by her husband, Leo R. White, of The Dalles; a son, Peter White, of Camp Sherman, Ore.; a daughter, Janet Lindsey of Kennewick, Wash.; five grandchildren. Recitation of the Rosary was at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home, followed by the mass of Christian Burial the next day. Burial was at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, Minn. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
