She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Pomona, Calif., to Owen and Eva Poling Williams. She grew up in California, Oregon and Arizona. She married John Phillip Widener in 1934 in Arizona and they moved to The Dalles in 1948, where they lived until moving to McMinnville in 1982. In The Dalles, she was employed at Columbia Fruit Packers for 19 years and at the hospital for several years. She was an avid seamstress and supporter of 4-H for both her daughters and granddaughters. In McMinnville, she was an active volunteer for the Hospital Guild at the McMinnville Hospital and the Willamette Valley Medical Center for 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, going for rides and gardening. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in McMinnville. Survivors include a son, Keven Widener, Salem; daughter Sharon DuPuy, McMinnville; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two brothers, Raymond O. Williams and Phillip A. Williams. Services will be at the McMinnville United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, with Pastor Steve Ross officiating. Burial will be at a private family cemetery.
