MERRITT HOWE DUFUR was the son of Alpha Kingsley DUFUR (b. Abt 1848 in Vermont;
d. 19 Feb 1896 in Oregon) and Elizabeth "Libbie" D. BALCH (b. 27 Nov 1856 in
Peru, Clinton County, New York; d. 18 March 1908 in Dufur, Wasco County, Oregon,
USA).

Birthdate of 16 March 1875 is from page 398, Balch Genealogy, by Galusha Balch
(pub 1898); calculated birthdate from gravestone is 29 March 1875. Death date of
03 Dec 1882 is also from page 398, Balch Genealogy, by Galusha Balch (pub 1898);
gravestone gives death date of 02 Dec 1882.
