DINSMORE, who for nearly ten years has been successfully engaged in the practice of medicine in Hillsboro, Oregon, has gained a high place in public esteem because of his unselfish devotion to his life work, in the practice of which he has proven skilled and trustworthy. Dr. Dinsmore was born in Nebraska in 1887 and is a son of James and Jane (Fell) Dinsmore. His father, who was a lawyer by profession, was born in Pennsylvania, is now retired and lives in Eugene, Oregon. His mother also was born in the old Keystone state. J. B. Dinsmore attended the public schools of his native state, graduating from high school, after which he spent two years in the University of Nebraska. The family moved to Eugene, Oregon, in 1904, and he matriculated in the University of Oregon, from which he was graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1910. He entered upon the practice of his profession at Bridal Veil, this state, where he remained three years, after which he spent a year in California. He then located in Portland, Oregon, where he practiced until 1915, when he went to Orence, Washington county. In 1917 he enlisted in the medical corps of the United States Army, was commissioned first lieutenant and was sent overseas, where he served thirteen months, during the greater part of which time he was stationed at Base Hospital 20. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1919, with the rank of captain, after which he came to Hillsboro, where he has been actively engaged in the practice of medicine to the present time. In 1912, at Bridal Veil, Oregon, Dr. Dinsmore was united in marriage to Miss Dorothy Stoppleman, who was born in Detroit, Michigan, was brought to Oregon in childhood and here received her educational training, eventually graduating as a nurse from the Good Samaritan Hospital. She is a daughter of Fred and Bertha Stoppleman, who now live in Seattle, Washington. Dr. and Mrs. Dinsmore are the parents of three children, James Frederick, John Robert and Dorothy Jane. Mrs. Dinsmore is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Coffee Club and other social organizations and is extremely popular in the circles in which she moves. The Doctor is a Mason and held official positions in the lodge while living at Bridal Veil. He belongs to the Knights of Pythias and the American Legion. He served as a member of the city council at Orenco, being chairman for two years, and is now health officer for Washington county and the city of Hillsboro. He is a member of the lWashington County Medical Society and commands the respect of his professional colleagues as well as the confidence and esteem of the people of his community. He has shown a commendable interest in the welfare of Hillsboro and is an active member of the Chamber of Commerce.
