Deceased was born in Montgomery County,Ohio,in 1833 and came to Oregon in the Summer of 1853,settling near Hillsboro a few years after his arrival. His first years in this country were psent in blacksmihing and he was a inished workman. In 1863 he was wedded to Rebecca Scholfield,a sister of one of Illinois' famous jurists of that name. The following children survive: Frank L., with the Pennsylvania & Reading, at Jersey City,N.J., and now in Cuba for his health;John of Tacoma,Wash;Ben,of Astoria;Mrs.Frank Imbrie,Hillsboror, and Mrs.Zada Falangus,of Portland.
