All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm Submitted by: CARLA in OREGON ******************************************************************* Eastern Oregon -- Pendleton, Umatilla County, Oregon Obituaries: VIOLET LAURENE DEXTER HILL 3 August 2000 ___ PORTLAND, Violet Laurene Hill, 80, of Beaverton, died Monday, July 31, 2000, at Beaverton, of pancreatic cancer. The funeral was 2 p.m. today at Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes, 1515 N.E. 106th, in Portland, Oregon. Burial was at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Oregon. Mrs. Hill was born Violet Laurene Dexter on April 18, 1920, at Yamhill. Her family moved to Umatilla when she was 4 years old. She grew up at Umatilla and attended schools there. On Feb. 19, 1938, she married Daniel C. Hill at Prosser, Wash. They lived at Irrigon from 1939 until 1967 and at Umatilla from 1967 until 1976 when they moved to Gresham. Mrs. Hill moved to Beaverton just over a year ago. Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and very family oriented. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, knitting, oil painting, ceramics, quilt making, and needlepoint. She had collected Indian Artifacts for a number of years and her collection was featured in the Who’s Who in Indian Artifacts 1976 edition. Her passion in life was doing Family Research/Genealogy. Author of two Family History Books and had just finished the text for a third. She and her husband had been members of the City of Roses Mid-Weekers, a Recreational Vehicle Good Sam Club. Mr. Hill died in 1994. Survivors include daughters, Carla Leighton of Seaside, Vetamae Koch of Oregon City, Vila Rae Cook of Portland, and Theresa Bunten of Hermiston; a brother, Rolbert Dexter of Torrence, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Memorial contributions may be made, in honor of her Grand-daughter, Rhonda Mae Cook, to the ARC of Multnomah County, 619 S.W. 11th Ave., Suite 234, Portland, OR 97205-2692, for the Adult Saturday Respite Center. Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes in Portland was in charge of arrangements. ---End---
