He was educated in the common schools of Brooklyn, N.Y., and graduated from the Brooklyn High School in 1889. He is a graduate of Drew Theological Seminary of the class of 1901. His conversion occurred so early in life that he does not know the date, but at fourteen years of age he was led to a richer experience and more perfect consecration. When but a boy he felt called to the ministry, but fought against it for years. He yielded in 1898 and received local preacher's license. From 1889 to 1898 he was with a dry goods house, Marshall Field & Co., in New York. On August 7, 1901, he married Miss R. L. Matthews, of Brooklyn, N.Y. He joined Conference in 1901, and is now at Narrowsburg, where he was first stationed.
