Grose, widow of George W. Grose, died at the home of her son, George W. Gross, Jr., in Hyndman, on March 20. Her husband passed away about 2 years ago at the age of ninety-five years. Mrs. Grose's maiden name was Martha A. Judy and she was born in Frederick county, Maryland, seventy-two years ago. She is survived by three sons-George W. Grose, of Hyndman; William H. Grose, of Johnstown, and Theodore W. Grose, of Marietta, O. The body was taken to Cumberland on Sunday, and after funeral services were held in SS. Peter and Paul's church, was buried in the cemetery nearby. Grose, 81, of Hyndman, a retired monument dealer, died Thursday Evening in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. He had been engaged in business in Cumberland and Hyndman for many years. Mr. Grose was born at Huntinton, W. Va. on Nov. 27, 1864, a son of George W. and Martha (Judy) Grose. He was a member of the Official Board of the Methodist Church here. Surviving are his widow, the former Anna M Conner, and three sons- Clarence and Clifton, both of Cumberland, and George, address unknown. A brother, William Grose, lives at Johnstown. The deceased also leaves seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were conducted by the Rev. Wendell Allen, pastor. Bedford Gazette, Bedford, PA, Thursday, 27 Mar 1947, page 4: Mrs. Anna M. Grose, widow of George W. Grose, died at her home in Hyndman on Monday. She was born in Cumberland September 30, 1865, a daughter of William and Mary Conner. She was married to George Grose in 1886. He died Oct. 17, 1946. Surviving are two sons, C.R. Grose and C.E. Grose, Cumberland, and a brother, Charles Conner. Membership was held in the Methodist Church, Hyndman. Funeral services will be conducted this Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev Wendell Allen officiating.
