Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In General Assembly met and is hereby enacted by the Authority of the Same. 1. An act releasing to CHRISTOPHER HASSINGER and ELIZABETH HESS, the right of this commonwealth to an escheated estate. Whereas, CATHARINE LEIDIG, late of Jonestown in Lebanon county, died intestate, without heirs or kindred, seized of real estate, which is supposed to have escheated to the commonwealth, and whereas it is represented that Catharine left two natural children, named Christopher Hassinger and Elizabeth Hess, intermarried with PHILIP HESS, therefore, all the right and title that may be in this commonwealth by escheat, to a certain house and lot bounded by lots of LUDWIG SHADE and FREDERICK HERMAN, is hereby released to Christopher Hassinger and Elizabeth Hess, the natural children of Catharine Leidig, as tenants in common. 11 Jan 1816. 2. An act vesting the title of a piece of land in Somerset twp., Washington county, to trustees for the use of the German Lutheran and Calvinist congregations. That the officers of the Land Office are hereby authorized to issue a warrant and complete a title for a piece of land bounded by lands of BENJAMIN LEYDA, DAVID BILLMAN and JOHN LEYDA, containing 20 acres and 63 perches, to JACOB KINTNER, JOHN ONSTOTT and GEORGE MILLER to be appointed, in trust, for the sole use of the congregations. 11 Jan 1816. 5. An act to vest in SARAH VERNON, the estate of her natural son, EMMER VERNON, late of Delaware county, dec. That all title and claim which this commonwealth may have acquired by reason of an escheat from the wants of heirs or kindred of Emmor Vermon, late of Delaware county, dec., of the estate he died seized is hereby vested in Sarah Vernon, mother of Emmer Vernon. 11 Jan 1816. 6. An act authorizing MARY M'CREARY, one of the guardians of the persons and estates of the minor children of THOMAS M'CREARY, dec., to execute and recieve releases. That Mary M'Creary, guardian of the children of Thomas M'Creary, late of Mercer county, dec., is hereby authorized to execute a release to SAMUEL M'CREARY, for that half of lot #1895, in the second district of donation lands, on which Samuel improved and now lives, in Mercer county, and to receive on behalf of and for the use of the heirs, as tenants in common, a release from Samuel M'Creary, for the other half of the tract, and the act passed 26 Mar 1813 is hereby repealed. 11 Jan 1816. [McCreary] 7. An act authorizing ELIZABETH DEAL and CHARLES ALBRECHT, executors of the last will and testament of JACOB DEAL, dec., to sell and convey the estate. Whereas, Elizabeth Deal and Charles Albrecht, and PETER DEAL and DANIEL DEAL, brothers of the deceased, that PETER DEAL, state their father, by his testament and last will, dated 9 Apr 1798, devised all the remainder of his estate, to be equally divided among his three children, Jacob, Peter and Daniel, and his grand daughter Susanna, that the devisees sold, on the 19 Aug 1915, a part of this estate, but Jacob departed this life before the deeds were executed, leaving seven children, four of whom are minors, and it would benefit the family of Jacob to authorize his executors to convey a good title to purchaser and also to sell and convey all the undivided share of Jacob at the time of his decease in the estate devised to him by his father Peter Deal, therefore, the executors of Jacob Deal, late of the county of Philadelphia, dec., are hereby authorized to sell and convey all the undivided part of the minor children of Jacob Deal in the estate of their grandfather Peter Deal, devised to thier father, and to grant and convey to the purchasers all the estate of Jacob. 22 Jan 1816. 10. A supplement to an act to lay out a state road from Carlisle in Cumberland county, to Littleton in Bedford county. The governor shall appoint three men to act as commissioners to review a part of a state road lately laid out from Carlisle to Littleton, beginning on the line of land of the heirs of JACOB TETWILOR, in Newton twp., Cumberland county, through the land of DAVID MICKEY, to the land of CHRISTOPHER AUS, and David Mickey shall pay all expenses. 22 Jan 1816. 16. An act to incorporate a company to make a road from the state line near the town of Emmetsburg, Maryland, through Waynesburg, Greencastle and Mercersburg, to intersect the Chambersburg and Bedford turnpike road near the east end of M'Connelsburg. That JAMES WILSON, AMOS M'GINLEY, YOST HORBAUGH, SIMON PECHER, WILLIAM BLAKELY, DANIEL ROYER, DAVID FULLERTON, JOHN M'LENAHAN, (farmer) JAMES BUCHANAN, ARCHIBALD RANKIN, ENOCH SKINNER and JAMES AGNEW, are hereby appointed commissioners. 29 Jan 1816. 19. An act to incorporate the Orphan Society of Philadelphia. Whereas, the ladies in the city of Philadelphia, have formed a society for the humane and charitable purposes of protecting, supporting and instructing orphan children, therefore, SARAH RALSTON, first directress, JULIA RUSH, second directress, MARIA DORSEY, secretary, and MARY YORKE, treasurer, SUSANNA LATIMER, LAETITIA BUCHANAN, ELIZABETH ABERCROMBIE, DEBBY H. MALCOM, ELIZABETH HARKINS, WILLIAMINA E. SMITH, SARAH BACON, ELIZA BRODHEAD, ANN L. EYRE, REBECCA RALSTON, J.H. PHILLIPS, MARY RICHARDS and HANNAH JONES, are managers, and the lot and buildings shall be free of tax. 29 Jan 1816. 20. An act to authorize HENRY JARRETT, of Northampton county, to build a permanent toll bridge across the river Lehigh. That it shall be lawful for Henry Jarrett, to erect and maintain a bridge across the river Lehigh, near Currie's ferry. 29 Jan 1816. 22. An act for the relief of ISAAC THOMPSON, an old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay unto Isaac Thompson, formerly of Mifflin county, but now in the state of Ohio, the sum of forty dollars, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to be paid half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1816. 29 Jan 1816. 24. An act for the relief of THOMAS CURTIS. That the officers in the accountant department are hereby authorized to adjust and settle the claim of Thomas Curtis, late a sergeant in the 11th PA regiment in the revolutionary war, so far as relates to an unclaimed depreciation certificate in his name, for 69 pounds, 5 shillings and 8 pence, under the same regulations that it might have been adjusted and settled if it had not escheated to the commonwealth, under the provisions in the act of 25 Mar 1786, nor had been barred by act of 4 Apr 1805, and the amount adjusted shall be paid by the state treasurer to Thomas Curtis. 29 Jan 1816. 26. An act to incorporate the Bridgeport Manufacturing Company. For the purpose of manufacturing cotton and woolen goods, in the borough of Bridgeport, Fayette county, JOHN KREPPS, JAMES TOMLINSON, ELISHA HUNT, WILLIAM GRIFFITH, JOHN M'CLURE, HEZLIP MORRIS TRUEMAN and ENOS GRAVE. shall be directors. 8 Feb 1816. 30. An act to incorporate the York Water Company. That GEORGE SPANGLER, WILLIAM NESS, JOHN BARNITZ, GEORGE SMALL, CHARLES F. FISHER, ABRAHAM GARTMAN and JACOB SMYSER, are appointed commissioners to convey a stream of water from the lands of PETER SMALL in York twp., into the borough of York, by means of pipes, trunks or aqueducts. 8 Feb 1816. 32. An act establishing an Academy in the borough of Lebanon, Lebanon county. The trustees are: REV. WILLIAM HIESTER, REV. PHILIP GLONINGER, J. ANDREW SHULZE, PETER SHINDEL, SAMUEL LIGHT, JOHN HARRISON, EDWARD GODWIN, DR. GEORGE REIDENAUR, DR. DUNCAN KING, PHILIP GREENAWALT, PHILIP WOLFERSBERGER JR., PETER LINAWEVER, ABRAHAM DOEBLER, JOHN BATDORFF, and JACOB WEIDMAN, who are declared one body corporate and politic. 8 Feb 1816. 34. A supplement to an act to sell and convey land. That it shall be lawful for ANDREW BOZORTH, one of the executors of the last will and testament of HANNAH DYER, dec., to enter in rocognizance in the orphans' court of the county of Philadelphia, which shall have the same force as if taken in Bucks county. 8 Feb 1816. 35. An act for the relief of MICHAEL WHEELAND, an old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Michael Wheeland, of the town of Milton, in Northumberland county, forty dollars when demanded, and forty dollars yearly during his natural life, to be paid half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1816. 8 Feb 1816. 38. An act to incorporate a company to make a road from the state line near the town of Emmetsburg, Maryland, to intersect Chambersburg and Bedford turnpike road, near Loudontown, Franklin county. That WILLIAM MILLER, WILLIAM BOOLS, EMANUEL STOVER, JOHN M'LAIN, LAZARUS BROWN, BENJAMIN KYSER, ALEXANDER M'COY, JEREMIAH HAMILTON, JAMES M'DOWELL and THOMAS SCOTT, are hereby appointed commissioners. 16 Feb 1816. 39. An act concerning the sale of a tract of land of which JOHN BURNSIDE died possessed. That the orphans' court of Chester shall proceed upon the petition for the sale of a tract of land situate in West Caln twp., Chester county, bounded by lands of PETER WAGONER, DILLMAN ZEIGLER and others, containing 71.75 acres and in the manner as if the title had been duly vested in John Burnside, and any sale shall be as effective as if John Burnside had been a citizen of the United States when he purchased it. 13 Feb 1816. 40. An act to vest in ISABELLA M'INTYRE the right of this commonwealth to the estate of her husband, THOMAS M'INTYRE, formerly of the city of Philadelphia, dec. That the right and title which this commonwealth may have acquired by reason of escheat, from want of heirs or kindred of Thomas M'Intyre, to the estate whereof he died seized is hereby vested in Isabella M'Intyre, widow and relict. 13 Feb 1816. 41. An act to enable the representatives of THOMAS ALLIBONE, late of the city of Philadelphia, dec., who are of full age, and the guardian of those who are minors, to convey a lot in the Northern Liberties of the city of Philadelphia. Whereas, Thomas Allibone, dec., before his death contracted with JOHN R. COATES, attorney of JOHN PENN ESQ., of Great Britain, for the purchase of the lot of ground, but before a conveyance could be executed for the lot Thomas Allibone died, without leaving any evidence in writing of the contract, and after his decease on 1 Aug 1809, GEORGE W. JONES, WILLIAM ALLIBONE JR., and THOMAS ALLIBONE to whom administration of the effects of the deceased had been granted, paid John R. Coates the consideration money which had been agreed upon for the lot, and took from him a conveyance for the lot, and on 3 Apr 1815, an order was obtained for the sale of the lands of Thomas Allibone, dec., and the lot was among them, and purchased by JOHN LARGE, of the city of Philadelphia, but by reason of the legal estate of the lot never having been in Thomas Allibone's and the non age of several o his children, no title to the lot can be made to the purchaser, therefore, WILLIAM LOWBER and FRANCENIA LOWBER, his wife, GEORGE W. JONES and ESTHER JONES his wife, THOMAS ALLIBONE and MARY E.B. ALLIBONE his wife, WILLIAM ALLIBONE JR., and SARAH ALLIBONE his wife, JOHN HUMPHREYS and SUSAN HUMPHREYS his wife, and CALEB NORTH, guardian of SARAH ALLIBONE, ELIZA ALLIBONE, MARY ALLIBONE and REBECCA ALLIBONE, are hereby authorized by deed to convey to John Large, a lot of ground, marked on the manor of Springetsburg I.T.P. #262, bounded by WILLIAM SANSOM. 13 Feb 1816. 42. An act to enable JOSEPH CRAWFORD and WILLIAM HAMILL, executors of the last will and testament of WILLIAM CLENNAL, an alien, late of Montgomery county, dec., to convey real estate. That the executors of William Clennal, Lower Providence twp., Montgomery county, dec., are hereby authorized to sell and convey all real estate of William Clennal as fully as if he had been a citizen of the United States at the time of the purchase. 13 Feb 1816. 43. An act incorporating the Northampton Water Company. That PETER NEWHARD, CHARLES H. MARTIN, PETER SNYDER, WILLIAM BOAS and SOLOMON GANGEWERE, are hereby appointed commissioners to convey a spring or stream of water from the neighbourhood, into the borough of Northampton by means of pipes, trunks and aqueducts. 13 Feb 1816. 44. An act for the improvement of a road beginning where the Coshecton and Great Bend turnpike passes through the Moosic mountain, in a western direction to the west line of the state. That the sum of $21000.00 is hereby appropriated to improve the road as follows: Susquehanna county, $3000.00 to be paid to HOSEA TIFFANY JR., JONAH BREWSTER and JABEZ HYDE JR., Bradford county, $3000.00 to be paid to GEORGE SCOTT, SAMUEL WOOD, and EBENEZER KENDAL, Tioga county, $3000.00 to be paid to DANIEL KELSEY, ELIJAH PUTNAM, and RICHARD ELLES, Potter county, $3000.00 to be paid to NATHANIEL PALMER, ISAAC LYMAN and WILLIAM AYRES, M'Kean county, $3000.00 to be paid to SAMUEL STANTON, JOHN BELL, and JOHN KING, Warren county, $3000.00 to be paid to DANIEL JACKSON, DAVID BROWN, and JAMES ANDREWS, Erie county, $3000.00 to be paid to WILSON SMITH, THOMAS KING and JOHN BOYD, as commissioners. 13 Feb 1816. 45. An act granting money to aid in removing obstructions out of Sheerman's creek. That the sum of $2000.00 is hereby appropriated for improving the navigation of Sheerman's creek, between Greighead's mill-dam and the confluence of the creek with the Susquehanna river. That FRANCIS GIBSON, GEORGE STROOP, JOHN MAXWELL, WILLIAM POWER, SAMUEL ANDERSON, JOHN CREIGH, MOSES WATSON, ISAIAH CARL and ROBERT ADAMS, are hereby appointed commissioners to superintend the removal of obstructions out of the creek. 17 Feb 1816. 46. An act for the relief of JOHN THOMPSON. Whereas, in the summer of 1815, the sum of $294.00 was stolen from John Thompson, of the borough of West Chester, that he charged RICHARD R. WILLIAMS, with the larceny, and had him arrested and held to bail to answer for the same, in the county of Chester, and that Richard R. William fled, and did not appear to answer the charge against him, in consequence the recognizance of his bail, to the amount of $300.00 was forfeited and it appears reasonable that John Thompson should be remunerated out of the recognizance forfieted to the commonwealth, therefore, the state treasurer is authorized to pay to John Thompson, of the borough of West Chester, the sum of $294.00 out of a recognizance of $300.00 of the surety of Richard R. Williams forfeited in consequence of the non appearance of him at the court the last monday in October 1815. 17 Feb 1816. 48. An act authorizing JAMES WILSON, of York county, to convey the right to a tract of land of MARY WILSON, a lunatic. That James Wilson, of Chanceford twp., York county, is hereby authorized to convey, by deed, all the right and title of his sister Mary Wilson, a lunatic, to a tract of land, devised to Mary and others, by the last will and testament of her father, JOHN WILSON, late of Drumore twp. Lancaster county, dec., and the proceeds of the share of Mary Wilson to pay the debts of the lunatic, and for her most beneficial use. 17 Feb 1816. 49. An act authorizing JOHN MORE, to execute a title to GEORGE FORNEY, for real estate. Whereas, an act passed 20 Mar 1812 authorized GEORGE FIEDT, trustee of the Lutheran congregation of Upper Paxton twp., Dauphin county, to sell a part of a tract of land belonging to the congregation, to defray the expenses of erecting a house of public worship, and whereas the proceeds of the sale not suffieient they wish a law passed to sell 10 acres to pay off the debts, therefore, John More, the trustee of the Lutheran congregation is hereby authorized to make and execute a good deed, for 10 acres of land adjoining JOHN NOLL, George Forney and others, to George Forney, as if it were the property of the trustee and apply proceeds of the sale as directed by the congregation. 17 Feb 1816. 50. An act relative to the building of bridges over the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers opposite Pittsburg. That DAVID PRIDE, PHILIP GILLAND, OLIVER ORMSBY, CHRISTIAN LATSHAW, JACOB BELTZHOOVER, JAMES BRISON, and SAMUEL DOUGLAS, all of Allegheny county, are hereby appointed commissioners for the Monongahela bridge, and WILLIAM ROBINSON JR., THOMAS CROMWELL, WILLIAM HAYES, JAMES O'HARA, GEORGE SHIRAS, WILLIAM ANDERSON, JAMES ADAMS, ROBERT CAMPBELL, and HUGH DAVIS, of Allegheny county, JOHN GILMORE, JOHN POTTS and ABRAHAM ZEIGLER, of Butler county, ROBERT MOORE and THOMAS HENRY of Beaver county, are hereby appointed commissioners for the Allegheny bridge. 17 Feb 1816. 51. An act to authorize the administrators of the estate of THOMAS HUTCHESON to convey real estate. That MARY HUTCHESON and MATHEW BOWLAND, administrators of the estate of Thomas Hutcheson, late of Washington county, are hereby authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to ROBERT HENRY, agreeable to a parol contract made between MATHEW RITCHIE, of Washington county, dec., and Robert Henry, for 29 acres, 2 roods and 8 perches of land, being part of a tract called "Mary's Bower" situated on the waters of Chartier's Creek, consisting of 248 acres 6 perches, surveyed in pursuance of a warrant granted ot Mathew Ritchie, and dated 24 dec 1794. 17 Feb 1816. 54. An act authorizing the administrators of ISRAEL BRINGHURST to convey a tract of land. Whereas, Israel Bringhurst, late of Montgomery county, dec., who died intestate, did in his lifetime, enter into articles of agreement to convey to CORNELIUS TYSON, a tract of land containing 13 acres, situate on the road from the Trap to Wismersford, and that a part of the consideration money was paid and possession delivered to Cornelius Tyson, who also died intestate, before conveyance was made, and now appears necessary the land should be sold for payment of debts of Cornelius Tyson, and the support and education of his minor children, therefore, it shall be lawful for MARY BRINGHURST, and MOSES HOBSON, administrators of the estate of Israel Bringhurst, on the receipt of the monies yet due, to execute a deed for the land situtate in Upper Providence twp., unto the administrators of Cornelius Tyson, and to execute a deed. 20 Feb 1816. 55. A supplement to the act appropriating militia fines to the improvement of public roads. That the commissioners of the several counties within the 16th division of the militia, are hereby required to apply all militia fines, which were imposed on individuals for neglecting or refusing to march under the orders of MAJOR GENERAL MEADE, and those who refused to march under the orders of GENERAL KELSO, to the improvement of public roads and the repairs or erection of public bridges. 20 Feb 1816. 56. An act to incorporate a company for making a road from Jersey Shore, Lycoming county to Coudersport, Potter county. That JOHN KEATING, THOMAS STEWARDSON, and GEORGE VAUX, of the city of Philadelphia, JOHN P. DE GRUCHY and JOHN BOYD, of the county of Northumberland, HUGH WHITE, JAMES COLLINS, THOMAS M'CLINTOCK, SAMUEL STEWARD, ROBERT M'CLURE and ANDREW D. HEPBURN, of Lycoming county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 20 Feb 1816. 58. An act directing payments to be made to the First troop of City Cavalry. That DANIEL BUSSIER, paymaster of the PA militia, is hereby authorized to pay each non commissioned officer, musician and private of the First troop of City Cavalry, for the time they were in the public service during the late war, the additional compensation allowed by the act passed 28 Mar 1814, he militia of this commonwealth in the service. 20 Feb 1816. 61. An act to incorporate a company for making a road from HENRY HEW's, Lycoming county, to AARON BLOSS', Tioga county. That Aaron Bloss, ELIJAH PUTNAM, ASA MANN, AMBROSE MILLARD, and JOHN GRAY, of Tioga county, and Henry Hews, JOHN HAYS ESQ., SAMUEL REED, and JOHN HERMAN, of Lycoming county, GEORGE VAUX, SAMUEL MILLIGAN and JOHN GIBSON of the city of Philadelphia, are hereby appointed commissioners. 26 Feb 1816. 65. An act to incorporate a company to erect a bridge over the river Schuylkill, near Lewis' ferry, Berks county. That MATHEW BROOK, WILLIAM MOORE, PAUL GEIGER, CURTIS LEWIS, WILLIAM HIGH, ABRAHAM YOST, ABRAHAM BROWER SEN., and ELIJAH GEIGER, of Berks county, are hereby appointed commissioners to erect the bridge, and DANIEL LIMEBACH and ABRAHAM KNABB of Oley twp., DANIEL LEVAN and BENJAMIN SCHNEIDER, of Exeter twp., JOHN STROHECKER, of the borough of Reading, SAMUEL BAIRD, of Montgomery county, and JOHN MILLER, of Sinking Spring, are appointed commissioners to fix on the site or spot where the bridge shall be erected. 28 Feb 1816. 67. An act directing the sale of lots in the towns of Beaver and Allegheny. That JAMES ALEXANDER, GUION GREER and JAMES LOGAN, are hereby directed to sell in the borough of Beaver, all the remaining lots yet the property of the commonwealth, excepting those reserved for public use, and the purchase money shall be paid into the treasury of the state, and a patent shall be issued to the purchaser, and a complete list of purchasers transmitted to the secretary of the land office. 5 Mar 1816. 71. An act enabling PETER PEDERSEN to purchase and hold real estate within this commonwealth. Whereas, Peter Pedersen, minister from Denmark, for many years has resided in the United States, and wishes to purchase real estate as will enable him to form a permanent residence, and owing to his public official station, he is unable to declare an intention to become a citizen of the United States, therefore, Peter Pedersen is hereby authorized to take by purchase any lands within the state of PA., as fully as if he were a citizen of the United States, provided real estate does not exceed 200 acres. 5 Mar 1816. 72. An act for the relief of JAMES MOORE, of Beaver county. Whereas, by an act passed 22 Jan 1803, a fractional part of the reserved tract at the mouth of Big Beaver creek, in Beaver county, was granted to James Moore, at one dollar and fifty cents per acre, to be paid in four equal yearly installments, the first to be paid in one year, at which time a warrant of survey was to be issued, but James Moore failed to pay any part of purchase money, thus the land office cannot grant a title, therefore, as soon as James Moore pays $250.00, it shall be lawful to grant him a warrant, and on payment within six years of the whole amount, the land officers shall issue a patent for the land. 5 Mar 1816. 73. An act to enable JOHN S. ROULET, executor of the last will and testament of VICTOR MOREAU, dec., to sell and convey real estate. Whereas, JEAN VICTOR MARIE MOREAU, dec., did, by his last will and testament and the codicil annexed, dated 19 Jun 1813, devise real estate in Bucks county, to his wife EUGENIA MOREAU, and his daughter ISABELLA MOREAU, yet in her minority, and Eugenia and Isabella reside in France, and would be for their interest that the real estate be sold, therefore, John S. Roulet, executors of Jean Victor Marie Moreau, dec., is hereby authorized to sell the real estate in Bucks county, and to execute a good deed to the purchaser. 5 Mar 1816. 77. An act to establish a mill race on the north side of Penns creek, near the town of New Berlin, Union county. That GEORGE EISENHUTH, GEORGE ORWIG, JOHN ORWIG and JACOB ORWIG, of Union county, are hereby authorized to dig, establish and support a mill race to convey the water from a mill proposed to be built by them across the public road from New Berlin to Swinefordtown, at the north end of the abutment of a bridge now erected across Penn's creek. 11 Mar 1816. 80. An act for the erection of piers in the river Delaware, at the borough of Chester, Delaware county. That the sum of $10935.32, now in the treasury, collected by the board of wardens on the tonnage of vessels is hereby appropriated for the erection of piers. That DAVID PORTER, JOSEPH ENGLE and WILLIAM GRAHAM, are hereby appointed commissioners to erect two piers, for the security of vessels, and also good wharves to afford a safe landing. 11 Mar 1816. 81. An act authorizing the secretary of the land office to issue a patent to AMOS JUDSON, for an in lot in the town of Waterford, Erie county. One of the lots has long since been sold by the sheriff of Erie county, to satisfy the county and road taxes due thereon, and Amos Judson became the purchaser and a deed was executed by the sheriff and he has proceeded to make improvements and there appears no specific mode for him to obtain a patent, therefore, the land office is hereby authorized to issue a patent ot Amos Judson for the in lot in the town of Waterford, #77, upon him paying a sum equal to what lots were appraised at, and the usual fees of the land office. 13 Mar 1816. 82. An act to incorporate the Greensburg Manufacturing Company, in Greene county. That the association of citizens formed for the purpose of erecting steam mills in the town of Greensburg, Greene county, to be adapted to sundry manufactories, are hereby created one body politic and corporate, provided that ENOCH SOUTH, BALTZER KRAMER, JAMES VANCE, LEWIS WRITEZ, and ALEXANDER VANCE, the present managers shall continue in office. 13 Mar 1816. 83. An act to incorporate the town of Strasburg, Lancaster county. A supplement to incorporate a company to make a road from Harrisburg through Lewistown and Huntingdon to Pittsburg. That NICHOLAS DAY, WILLIAM DENNISTON, ZEBULON DOTY, JOSEPH BARNES and JAMES REED, are hereby appointed commissioners. That for the purpose of making a turnpike road from the town of New Alexandria, in Westmoreland county, to intersect the Greensburg and Pittsburg turnpike road near Pittsburg, Allegheny county, the above are named commissioners. 13 Mar 1816. 86. An act vesting the title of a piece of land in Bethel twp., Bedford county, in trustees for the use of the Baptist congregation. That the consent of the legislature is hereby granted to a purchase, made from WILLIAM B. FORSTER, of a tract of land situate on the Allegheny river, about 2 miles above Pittsburg, bounded, beginning on the bank of the river, by land of William B. Forster, by land of JOHN EWALT, to the beginning, containing 30 acres, for a site for a military station and establishment for the ordnance department. 19 Mar 1816. 116. An act to enable the executors of WALTER CLARK, to convey a tract of land. Whereas, Walter Clark, late of Londonderry twp., Dauphin county, dec., did, in his lifetime, authorize CHARLES CLARK as his agent, did, on 24 Feb 1812, sell to THOMAS DAVIS, a tract of land situate part in Derry and part in Mahoning twps., now Columbia county, containing 131.5 acres, and died, not having made any provisions for completing the contract, and the purchaser has paid part and continues to pay the purchase money, to JAMES WILSON and WILLIAM CATHCART, executors of the last will and testament of Walter Clark, therefore, the executors of Walter Clark, dec., are hereby authorized to convey by deed, the 131.5 acres to Thomas Davis. 19 Mar 1816. 118. An act relating to the sale of a tract of land by the sheriff of Greene county to William T. Hays, in trust for the use of the commonwealth. Whereas, on certain parts of the estate of JOHN NICHOLSON, in favor of THOMAS RYERSON, a mortgage was executed by Thomas Ryerson on a tract of land situate in Greene county, containing 400 acres, to secure the payment of $500.00 to the commonwealth, and in default of the payment by Ryerson, the tract of land was exposed to sale by the sheriff and purchased by WILLIAM T. HAYS, prothonotary of the court, for the sum of $250.00 in trust for the use of the commonwealth, therefore the sheriff is hereby authorized to make a deed of conveyance to William T. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to SAMUEL POLAND, of Franklin county, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars yearly during life, paid half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1816. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to MARTIN WILSON, of Beaver county, the sum of $50.00 in full, of his claims for services rendered in the medical department during the late war. That the officers of the accountant department are hereby authorized to adjust and settle the claim of CHRISTOPHER PETER BENNER, late a soldier in the revolutionary war, so far as related to an unclaimed final settlement certificate in his name, for 5 pounds four shillings, the balance due with interest from 1 Apr 1787 to be paid to the legal representatives of Christopher Peter Benner, dec. The sum of forty dollars is hereby granted to BERNARD VALLENTINE, of Mifflin county, and an annuity of forty dollars, for life, to be paid to DAVID REYNOLDS, for the use of Bernard Valentine, in providing clothing and diet for him, to commence on 1 Jan 1816. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to HENRY WOOLLERY, of Northampton county, the sum of forty dollars, as a gratuity. An act to enable the executors of VALENTINE KLOESS to sell real estate. Whereas, Valentine Kloess, of Northampton county, died seized of two tracts of land in said county, and another tract in the county of Northumberland, which were to be held by his widow and seven children, as tenants in common, and after a certain number of years the proceeds divided equally among the children, but some parts are impracticable and the authority of the courts insufficient, therefore, MARIA EVA KLOESS, executrix, and JACOB KLOESS, ABRAHAM KLOESS and JOHN SMITH, executors of the last will and testament of Valentine Kloess, late of Bethlehem twp., are hereby authorized to sell and convey all the real estate and execute good deeds to the purchasers, and after the payment of debts make distribution of the proceeds by the will, and secure for the widow an annual sum for her maintance. 19 Mar 1816. 129. That the title of Henry Shroeder, of Adams county, to a lot of ground in the borough of Gettysburg, is hereby confirmed, so far as may be deficient on account of him being an alien, and to all intents and purposes as if he was a citizen of the United States. That the title of David Scott, of Luzerne county, to a messuage and lot, situate in the borough of Wilkesbarre, containing 1/4 acre, adjoining other land of David Scott, is hereby confirmed so far as it may be defective by reason of JOHN JONES, a former claimant of the lot, being an alien at the time of purchase. An act to incorporate a company to erect a bridge over the river Schuylkill, near Hamburg, Berks county. That ABRAHAM BAILEY, ABRAHAM WOLF, ROBERT SCOTT, JOHN SCHOME, HENRY LEWARS, WILLIAM WITMAN JR., FREDERICK SMITH, DANIEL LEVAN, HENRY HEIST and GEORGE SHERTEL, all of Berks county, are hereby appointed commissioners to erect the bridge. 19 Mar 1816. 138. An act authorizing JOHN DICKSON to convey lands. That it shall be lawful for John Dickson to execute a deed unto JACOB CASSAT, JOHN KING and JAMES NEELY trustees, of the Presbyterian congregation of Great Connewago, in Straban twp., Adams county, for a tract of land containing 52 acres, 12 perches which was granted by patent unto JAMES DICKSON, in trust for the congregation, paying the amount of any claim of John Dickson against the congregation, the trustees are authorized to sell and convey the land and the proceeds vested in a productive fund. 19 Mar 1816. 139. An act to authorize the settlement of accounts of WILLIAM HAMILTON, JOHN L. PEARSON and JOHN PHILIPS. That the accountant officers are hereby authorized to adjust and settle the accounts of William Hamilton, late a lieutenant colonel of volunteer riflemen in the service of the United States, for certain disbursements by him made in subsisting the troops under his command, while on the march to the defence of the city of Baltimore. That the accountant officers are hereby authorized to adjust and settle the accounts of lieutenant Colonel John L. Pearson, of Delaware county, for rations furnished the detachment of militia under his command in the service of the United States in the late war with Great Britain. That the accountant officers are hereby authorized to adjust and settle the accounts of John Philips, late a paymaster of PA militia in the service of the United States, for monies expended by him paid to commissioned officers for the use of a private or privates of the company or regiment to which the officer belonged. 19 Mar 1816. 141. HOLLENBACH, REDMOND CONYNGHAM, JOSEPH SENTON and DAVID RICHARDS of Luzerne county, JACOB SEAGER, JAMES WILSON, WILLIAM ECKART and GEORGE YUNDT, of Lehigh county, JACOB SHINER, PHILIP MARLIN, JOHN CHAMBERLIN and JOHN BROWN of Columbia county, are hereby appointed erect locks not less then seventy feet in length. 19 Mar 1816. 145. An act to confirm the title of the trustees of the First Baptist Church of Washington, to a lot of ground in the borough of Washington. That the deed of trust from ROBERT ANDERSON and JAMES GILMORE to HUGH WILSON, DANIEL MOORE and DAVID SHIELDS, conveying a lot of ground situate in Bell street in the town of Washington, designated by #77, and is ratified and confirmed unto them in trust as fully as if Robert Anderson and James Gilmore had been authorized by deed to transfer and convey the same. 19 Mar 1816. RESOLUTIONS 2. Whereas, CAPTAIN CHARLES STEWART, a native of PA, commander of the United States frigate Constitution, has highly distinguished himself by his valor and conduct in capturing the British ships of war Cyane and Levant, it is the desire of this commonwealth to evice the grateful sense and present to him some token of its approbation by the presentation of a sword, the expense of which is not to exceed $400.00. 5 Mar 1816. 5. Resolved, to protest an act of New Jersey, passed 4 Feb 1815, that enabled DANIEL W. COXE, SAMUEL WRIGHT JR.,and PETER J.
