SIMON SNYDER, Governor REES HILL, Speaker of the House of Representatives ISAAC WEAVER, Speaker of the Senate. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In General Assembly met and is hereby enacted by the Authority of the Same. 1. An act to authorize the trustees of the German Society of Roman Catholics of the Holy Trinity Church in the city of Philadelphia, to sell and convey a lot. That it shall be lawful for the trustees to sell a frame tenement and lot situate on Sassafras Alley in the city, devised in the will of JOHN CONRAD, late of the city of Philadelphia, dec., to the congregation, and to execute a deed to the purchaser, provided the trustees use the purchase money on a mortgage of good real estate and the interest of the mortgage be used for schooling poor children belonging to the congregation. 20 Dec 1816. 2. An act to vest in the trustees of the German religious society of Roman Catholic of the Holy Trinity Church, in the city of Philadelphia, the right of the commonweath, to the estate of FRANCIS DOERING, late of the city of Philadelphia, dec. That the right , title and interest which this commonwealth may have acquired by reason of escheat from the want of heirs or kindred of Francis Doering, the same is vested in the trustees. 20 Dec 1816. 3. An act authorizing ESTHER OTTINGER, JACOB HOLGATE and AARON KEYSER, executors of JOHN OTTINGER, dec., to sell and convey part of a tract of land. Whereas John Ottinger, of Springfield twp., Montgomery county, died seized of a tract of land, containing 155 acres, together with his stock and household and kitchen furniture, bequeathed to his wife, until his youngest child should obtain the age of 14 years, which child is now about one year old, and whereas there are no assets in the hands of the executors to pay the debts of the deceased, therefore, the executors are hereby authorized to sell so much of the real estate as will be sufficient to pay the debts due, and convey a deed to the purchaser, not to sell over 25 acres. 24 Dec 1816. 4. An act to authorize WILLIAM SPEER and JOHN LOBINGIER, guardians fo the persons and estates of the minor heirs of RICHARD HOPE, dec., to convey land. Whereas, Richard Hope, of Mountpleasant twp., Westmoreland county, died in the year 1813, siezed of a tract of land containing 165 acres, and leaving two brothers and five sisters, the only legal heirs of Richard Hope, one of whom intermarried with William Speer, and died leaving five minor children, that the administrators of Richard Hope, being duly authorized by agreement, have contracted to sell the tract of land, and William Speer, guardian, has prayed for authority to join in the sale on behalf of his children, for remedy an act was passed 13 Mar 1815, but by mistake the name of ADAM HOPE is used in place of Richard Hope, and CLEMENTS BURLEIGH having declined the guardianship of the children and John Lobingier been appointed in his room, therefore, William Speer of Fayette county, and John Lobingier of Westmoreland county, guardians of MARY SPEER, JANE SPEER, NANCY SPEER, JOSEPH SPEER and JOHN SPEER, heirs of Richard Hope, dec., are hereby authorized to make a good deed of conveyance of the estate of the minor children. 24 Dec 1816. 5. An act authorizing JACOB FUNK and JACOB TRICHLER, administrators of JOHN W. BURSON, to grant and convey real estate. That Jacob Funk and Jacob Trichler, administrators of the estate of John W. Burson, late of Springfield twp., Bucks county, dec., who died intestate, are hereby authorized to make and execute a deed of conveyance to NICHOLAS KRAMER, of Northampton county, for the one undivided half of the following lots, beginning at stones in line of JACOB FULLMER's land, thence by WILLIAM BURSON's land, containing 36 acres and the other beginning at sones of WILLIAM BARRON, by land of JOSEPH AFFLEBACH, thence by land of William Burson, containing 16 acres. 24 Dec 1816. 6. An act releasing to MARY MAGDALENA WOEBLER, the right of the commonwealth to an escheated estate. Whereas, GEORGE PETER WOEBLER, late of Hempfield twp., Westmoreland county, dec., died intestate without heirs or kindred, being seized of real and personal estate and whereas George left a widow, Mary Magdalena, that the title of the commonwealth to the estate should be released, therefore, all the right and title of this commonwealth in a tract of land with the appurtenances, containing 119 acres held by George Peter Woebler under articles of agreement with DANIEL BUSH, dated 4 Dec 1809, situate in Hempfield twp., adjoining lands of HENRY HIESLY, THOMAS WILLIAMS and others, is hereby released to Mary Magdalena Woebler, and a deed of conveyance is to be released to her. 9 Jan 1817. 8. An act to authorize to JOHN HEINEY, JOHN SILFIUS, JOHN FULTON and WILLIAM KLIPPINGER to sell a part of a tract of land. Whereas, a tract of land situate in Moore twp., Northampton county, containing 76 acres and 110 perches, was granted by deed from WILLIAM BECK, dated 30 Sep 1782 to PHILIP DRUM, CASPER ERB and HENRY BARTHOLOMEW in trust for the use of Moore twp. German congregation, who wish to sell part of the land, for the purpose of raising a fund to defray the expenses of erecting a church and school house, therefore, the trustees are hereby authorized to sell and convey 50 acres and 110 perches. 9 Jan 1817 9. An act to incorporate the Kennet and Downingtown turnpike company. That JAMES JEFFERIES, WILLIAM DOWNING, HUMPHREY MARSHALL, WILLIAM WEBB, JESSE JOHN, ISAAC TRIMBLE, ISAAC BENNET, CALEB BRINTON JR., and JAMES JONES, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a road beginning at the end of the Wilmington and Kennet turnpike, where it intersects the line of the state of Delaware, and then to the Philadelphia and Lancaster turnpike where it intersects the Downingtown, Ephrata and Harrisburg turnpike. 9 Jan 1817. 10. An act releasing to ELEANOR ARCHBOLD the right of the commonwealth to a escheated estate. Whereas PATRICK ARCHBOLD, late of the county of Adams, dec., died intestate without heirs or kindred, possessed of personal estate, and whereas Patrick left a widow, named Eleanor, in whose favor the claim of the commonwealth should be released. Therefore, all the right and interest of the commonwealth si hereby granted to Eleanor Archbold. 9 Jan 1817. 12. An act to authorize DOROTHY WILLING FRANCIS and THOMAS MAYNE WILLING, administrators of THOMAS WILLING FRANCIS, dec., to sell and convey real estate. Whereas, JOHN ALLEN, of the city of Philadelphia, merchant, by indenture dated 19 Aug 1811, did grant and convey to Thomas Willing Francis, merchant, certain real and personal estate recorded in deed book I.C. #31, pg 333 and whereas Thomas Willing Francis by deed poll or declaration of trust, dated the same day and year, did acknowledge and declare that the property conveyed to him in trust for securing and paying persons for monies and engagements advanced and entered into by them on behalf of John Allen, and after making complete satisfaction to the persons in trust, to transfer the undisposed residue of the estate to John Allen. And whereas Thomas Willing Francis is since deceased intestate, leaving several children, all in their minority, therefore Dorothy Willing Francis and Thomas Mayne Willing, are hereby authorized to grant, sell and convey all or part of the estate and make a good deed as the intestator would have done. 9 Jan 1817. 16. A supplement to the act for the relief of JOHN CAVANOUGH. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to John Cavanough, the annuity granted by the act is hereby repealed. 14 Jan 1817. 17. An act authorizing MARY PAINTER, late MARY M'CREARY, one of the guardians of the persons and estates of the minor children of THOMAS M'CREARY, dec., to execute and receive releases for a tract of donation land in Mercer county. That Mary Painter, guardian of the minor children of Thomas M'creary, late of Mercer county, dec., is hereby authorized to execute a release to SAMUEL M'CREARY, for the half of lot #1895, in the second district of donation lands in Mercer county, which he improved and on which he now lives, and to receive on behalf of the heirs, as tenants in common, a release from Samuel M'Creary for the other half of the lot of land agreeably to the contract that existed between Thomas and Samuel. 22 Jan 1817. 18. An act to enable JOHN BOAL and THOMAS WILSON, administrators of HUGH M'LAUGHLIN, late of Union county, dec., to convey a piece of ground. Whereas, Hugh M'Laughlin, late of Union county, dec., did by parole contract, sell to URIAH SILSBY, a piece of land situate in White Deer twp., and Uriah Silsby paid him in full, but received no deed, therefore, John Boal and Thomas Wilson, administrators, are hereby authorized to make and execute to Uriah Silsby a good deed for a tract of land containing 1 acre, forty 7/10 perches. 22 Jan 1817 19. An act to vest in MARGARET WILLIAMS the right of the commonwealth to the estate of WILLIAM WILLIAMS, late of Radnor twp., Delaware county. That all the right and title which this commonwealth may have acquired by reason of escheat, from the want of heirs or kindred of William Williams in his estate shall be vested in Margaret Williams. 22 Jan 1817. 20. An act releasing to SUSANNA CRAWFORD, the wife of JOHN CRAWFORD, the right of the commonwealth to an escheated estate. Whereas, WILLIAM PAINE, late of Conestogo twp., Lancaster county, died intestate, without heirs or kindred, seized of a lot adjoining lands of ABRAHAM HARNISH and HENRY HESS, with a small one story house thereon, and as he left a widow named SUSANNA PAINE, who has since intermarried with John Crawford, therefore, all right and title of this commonwealth to the estate of William Paine is vested in Susanna Crawford. 22 Jan 1817. 21. An act to vest in MARGARET HOFFMAN, the right of the commonwealth to the estate of JOHN TODD, late of East Whiteland twp., Chester county, dec. That all right and title which this commonwealth may have acquired by reason of escheat from the want of heirs or kindred of John Todd, to the personal estate is hereby vested in Margaret Hoffman. 22 Jan 1817. 22. An act to authorize the administrators of THOMAS NEWBOLD, late of the city of Philadelphia, merchant, dec., to sell and convey all real estate of the intestate in the county of Philadelphia. That it shall be lawful for CATHARINE AUGUSTA NEWBOLD, HERMAN LE ROY, CALEB NEWBOLD JR., and HERMAN LE ROY JR., administrators of the estate of Thomas Newbold, dec., to sell all real estate and to execute a deed to the purchaser, and the proceeds invested in real estate for the benefit of his minor children. 22 Jan 1817. 23. An act authorizing the administrator of JOSEPH BURLEY, dec., to convey a tract of land. Whereas, GILES STEPHENS and THOMAS STEPHENS purchased of Joseph Burley two adjoining tracts of land, situate in Tyrone twp., Huntingdon county, containing 106 acres, and Giles Stephens released all his right and claim to the land to Thomas Stephens, and Joseph Burley died intestate, without executing a deed, and the articles of agreement made being destroyed by the accidental burning of the house of JAMES E. STEWART, in whose care the article had been lodged for safe keeping, and Thomas Stephens has paid $323.00, part of the purchase money, therefore, JOHN TEMPLETON and JOSEPH MEREDITH, administrators of the goods and chattels of Joseph Burley, dec., are authorized to make and execute a deed of conveyance to Thomas Stephens on his paying the balance due. 3 Feb 1817. 24. An act for the relief of THOMAS CLUGAGE, a captain in the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Thomas Clugage, $200.00 in full for his services as a captain in the revolutionary war. 3 Feb 1817. 25. An act for the relief of JOSEPH JOHNSTON, of Beaver county. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Joseph Johnston, of Beaver county, the sum of $375.00, in full of his claim for a tract of donation land in the second district Mercer county, containing 200 acres, #1881, which was granted to Joseph Johnston, but upon examination was found to have been previously granted to another. 3 Feb 1817. 26. An act to incorporate a company to make a road from Danville, Columbia county, to Pennsborogh, Lycoming county. That DANIEL MONTGOMERY, MATHEW S. COLVIN, NATHANIEL SPENCE, THOMAS MOORHEAD and PHILIP GOODMAN of Columbia county, and JOHN M'MEANS, JOSEPH WOOD, GEORGE WEBB, JOHN BECBER, JOHN BRINDLE and JACOB SHOEMAKER, of Lycoming county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 3 Feb 1817. 27. An act to authorize the commissioners of Union county to sell and convey part of a lot in the town of New Berlin, Union county. That the commissioners are hereby authorized to sell and convey unto CHRISTOPHER SEEBOLD, part of a lot lying north of Market street, for which Christopher Seebold gave a deed to the commissioners for public use, reserving a portion to erect a jail thereon, provided Christopher convey to the commissioners a quantity of ground for a jail yard. 3 Feb 1817. 31. An act to incorporate the Bethany and Canaan turnpike road. That MOSES THOMAS ESQ., ISAAC DIMMICK, JASON TORREY, MATHIAS KEEN and GEORGE RIX, of Wayne county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a road from Rix's gap in the Moosic mountain, Canaan twp., to the town of Bethany, to the Coshecton and Great bend turnpike road near the house of BENJAMIN CONKLIN, in Damascus twp., Wayne county. 5 Feb 1817. 32. An act to incorporate a company for improving the navigation of the Lackawana creek. That NOAH STEVENS, STEPHEN GRIFFIN, ISAAC HART, JOHN I. DING and JOHN WATERS, are hereby appointed commissioners to open a canal and lock navigation by erecting dams to raise the water, and to take water on either side of the creek by means of a wing dam, canal, lock or other device, remove rocks and other obstructions. 5 Feb 1817. 33. An act to legalize and make valid the official proceedings of DAVID C. KULP, a justice of the peace of Montgomery county. Whereas, David C. Kulp, a justice of the peace for the fourth district of Montgomery county, while acting as a justice was appointed as assistant assessor of the direct tax of the United States, whereby his commission as justice became vacated, according to the laws of the commonwealth, and he continued to perform various official acts as a justice until a new commission was granted to him by the governor and thus various citizens may be greatly injured, therefore, all the official acts of David C. Kulp, a justice of the peace, done and performed by him from the 13 Apr 1815, until the 1 Jun 1816, are hereby declared legal and valid. 5 Feb 1817. 34. An act for the relief of PETER S.V. HAMOT. That it shall be lawful for the accountant department, to adjust and settle the accounts of Peter S.V. Hamot, and make allowance to him for losses by him sustained in the purchase and sale of a quantity of rations under the orders of GENERAL MEADE, 5 May 1817. 36. An act to erect the town of Bedford, Bedford county, into a borough. That the town of Bedford, is erected into a borough beginning at West street, etc., from John street, west to the north west corner of DOCTOR JOHN ANDERSON's out lot, south to the division line between Doctor John Anderson's and JACOB BONNETT's out lots, to the limestone query road at the corner of THOMAS RAY's fields, to beginning, and DAVID MANN and JAMES M. RUSSELL, of the borough, shall publish and superintend the elections. 5 Feb 1817. 38. A supplement to an act passed 31 Mar 1806, authorizing the erection of a school house near Sumanytown, Montgomery county. That the surplus money remaining in the hands of the commissioners of the Sumanytown school house lottery is hereby appropriated to the erection of a dwelling house for the accommodation of a teacher, and in case of non compliance within one year, PHILIP REED and HENRY SNYDER, shall have full power to sue for the money, to be applied by them for the purpose aforesaid. 10 Feb 1817. 39. An act for the relief of MARY WALKER. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Mary Walker, of Pike county, widow of JOHN WALKER, dec., forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually as long as she remains the widow of John Walker, and if she should intermarry or die, the forty dollars shall be paid to the guardian of the minor children of John Walker, until the youngest surviving child shall arrive at the age of fourteen years. 10 Feb 1817. 41. An act for the relief of GABRIEL BLAKENEY, an officer of the revolution. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Gabriel Blakeney, of Washington county, eighty dollars immediately, and the sum of eighty dollars yearly during life, to be paid half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. 10 Feb 1817. 43. An act authorizing the guardians of the minor children of DAVID KROUSE, dec. to convey a tract of land to JOHN GAREY. Whereas, David Krouse, late of Upper Hanover twp., Montgomery county, dec., in his lifetime, exchanged 4 acres and 66 perches of land, with John Garey, and possession was mutually given to each other, and peaceably held for ten years, but no deed of conveyance or article of agreement was executed, therefore, ISAAC SHULTZ and DANIEL SHULTZ, guardians of the minor children of David Krouse, dec., are hereby authorized to convey to John Garey, a lot containing 4 acres and 66 perches bounded by lands of JACOB SHULTZ, John Garey and others, provided John Garey convey the four acres of land exchanged to the guardians for the use of the minor children. 10 Feb 1817. 47. An act to appoint commissioners to lay out a state road in the county of Washington. That the governor is hereby authorized to appoint three commissioners, to lay out a state road, beginning at the house of DANIEL DYE, Canton twp., through Taylorstown, to intersect the Virginia state road near the house of ALEXANDER M'KETTRICKS on the state line. 17 Feb 1817. 48. An act to authorize the executors of JOHN GEMMIL JR., dec., and the admiinistrators of ZACHARIAH GEMMIL, dec., to execute a deed for a tract of land in Mifflin county. That is shall be lawful for the executors of John Gemmil Jr. dec., and the administrators of Zachariah Gemmil, dec., are hereby to join with the surviving heirs of JOHN GEMMIL SEN., who are of full age, in executing a deed for a tract of land in Mifflin county, (later Juniata county) Fermanagh twp., adjoining lands of JAMES BANKS and others, containing 254 acres, to ANDREW BANKS and JAMES BANKS, provided the deed shall not pass any greater interest or estate than was vested in John Gemmil Sen. in his life time. 17 Feb 1817. 49. An act for the relief of JOHN SNYDER, DANIEL STOY, ADAM SPECHT and HENRY LEBO, old soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to John Snyder, late of York county, forty dollars immediately and forty dollars annually, to be paid half yearly during his life, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Daniel Stoy, of Somerset county, $200.00 immediately, and an annuity of fifty dollars for his meritorious services, to be paid quarter yearly during life, commencing on 1 Jan 1817. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to Adam Specht, of Union county, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually during life, to be paid half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to Henry Lebo, of Lycoming county, the sum of forty dollars as a gratuity. 17 Feb 1817. 50. An act to enable JOHN LINEBACH and CATHARINE LINEBACH, his wife, late CATHARINE EPLER, and HENRY SHELL, surviving administrators of JOHN EPLER, dec., to convey real estate. Whereas, John Epler, late of Bern twp., Berks county, dec., did agree to sell a lot and acknowledged the receipt of the purchase money in full, and did give possession to JOHN LERCH, therefore, Jacob Linebach and Catharine his wife, late Catharin Epler, and Henry Shell, surviving administrators of John Epler, are hereby authorized to make and execute a deed unto John Lerch, for 1 acre and 26 perches bounded by a post in a line of JOHN MOSER's land, by John Epler's land to beginnng. 17 Feb 1817. 52. An act to incorporate the town of Newville, Cumberland county. That the town of Newville, Cumberland county, is hereby erected into a borough, bounded beginning on the bank of Big Spring adjoining land of the heirs of GABRIEL GLENN, adjoining land formerly of ROBERT WALKER, adjoining land formerly of ANDREW WALKER, adjoining lands of the heirs of JEREMIAH M'KIBBEN, to a black oak on the bank of Big Spring, and WILLIAM RITCHIE or JOHN HEATH, constable of Newton twp., shall publish and superintend the elections. 26 Feb 1817. 56. An act to erect the town of Milton, Northumberland, and the town of Butler, Butler county, into boroughs. That the town of Milton, Northumberland is hereby erected into a borough beginning on the west branch of the Susquehanna river at the lower part of DANIEL BICHLEY's farm, thence along the back line of the farm to the corner of D. SCUDDER,s farm, passing _____ HILL's farm, along the back line of WILLIAM POLLOCK and THOMAS POLLOCK's farm, to the southern line of DAVID MARR's farm to beginning, and THOMAS COMLEY and ARTHUR M'GOWAN, constable of Turbet twp., shall publish and superintend the elections. That the town of Butler, Butler county, shall be erected into a borough following the original plot of the town, 26 Feb 1817. 57. An act to incorporate a company for making a road in Wayne county. That SAMUEL PRESTON, SANDFORD CLARK, GEORGE W. HUBBLE, JOSEPH TANNER, PETER SPENCER, BENJAMIN KING and THOMAS MEREDITH, are hereby appointed commissioners to make a road from Stockport to Mount Pleasant in Wayne county. 26 Feb 1817. 58. An act to confirm title to land in ABRAHAM BRINKER. Whereas, THOMAS SMITH, by deed, did convey a tract of land situate in Clearfield twp., Butler county, containing 140 acres to JAMES SHARP, in trust for the children of Thomas Smith, and as James Sharp having died without acting thereon, Thomas Smith did whilst in possession thereof, convey the same premises to Abraham Brinker for a valuable consideration and it is the desire of the children of Thomas Smith that the title be confirmed in Abraham Brinker as if the deed of trust had never been executed, therefore, the title of 140 acres of land is hereby confirmed in Abraham Brinker. 26 Feb 1817. 60. An act to authorize the administrators of JACOB WOLF, late of the county of Union, dec., to convey a piece of ground. That ABRAHAM AURAND, administrator of Jacob Wolf, late of Union county, dec., is hereby authorized to make and execute to HENRY NULL, a good deed for a tract of land containing 1 acre, situate in Buffaloe twp., Union county, upon the payment of the balance of the purchase money. 26 Feb 1817. 61. An act to incorporate a company to make a road. That THOMAS MEREDITH, IRA MUMFORD JR., SANDFORD CLARK, JOSEPH TANNER, BENJAMIN KING, ASA STANTON, THOMAS SPANGENBERG and WALTER LYON, are hereby appointed commissioners to make a road from Bellmont, Wayne county to Oghquaga on the river Susquehanna. 26 Feb 1817. 62. An act authorizing a special session of the supreme court for the Lancaster district. That the judges of the supreme court are hereby authorized to hold a special session at the borough of Lancaster, Lancaster county, on 6 Mar 1817, for determining the cause of DANIEL MOORE, plantiff in error, against ROBERT W. HOUSTON, lately removed by writ of error, from the court of common pleas to the supreme court, with a power of adjournment from time to time until the cause be determined, and the decision of the court shall be in all respects as if it had been made at a regular term of the court. 27 Feb 1817. 64. An act to enable MICHAEL BOLLINGER, administrator of WYAND SMITH, late of Centre county, dec., to convey real estate. Whereas, Wyand Smith, late of Centre county, dec., situate in Millheimtown, to MARTIN TRESTER, who having fully satisfied and paid to Smith the consideration, was put into the possession thereof, to hold for many years, until he again sold it, but owing to the sudden death of Wyand Smith, no title was executed, therefore, Michael Bollinger, sole administrator of Wyand Smith, is hereby authorized to make and execute to Martin Trester, a good deed for a house and two lots of ground, with the appurtenances, situate in the town of Millheim, lots #10 & 12, each containing 49 1/2 feet in front on Main street, adjoining 14 and 8. 3 Mar 1817. 65. An act providing for the settlement of the accounts of JOHN PHILIPS, late a pay master of the militia. That the account officers are hereby required to admit to the credit of John Philips, the sum of $286.52, being the amount paid by him to MAJOR GENERAL MEAD, for their services at Erie in the summer of 1813. That the accountant officers are hereby authorized to allow John Philips additional compensation for his services in paying the bounty and additional monthly pay granted to the militia and volunteers under MAJOR GENERAL HARRISON. That the accountant officers are hereby required to adjust and settle the accounts of MAJOR GENERAL DAVID MEAD and staff, for their services at Erie, in Jan and Feb. 1814. 3 Mar 1817. 66. Anact to enable MARY ZIMMERMAN, administrix of PETER ZIMMERMAN JR., late of the county of Union, dec., to convey a lot of ground situate in Hartleton, Union county, to ELIZABETH SMITH. That Mary Zimmerman, administratrix, is hereby authorized to make and convey a good deed for a lot #31, to Elizabeth Smith, wife of MELCHIOR SMITH JR., as was conveyed to Peter Zimmerman dec. 3 Mar 1817. 67. PEARSON and THOMAS HARSHE. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to John L. Pearson, of Delaware county, the sum of $150.00, in full of his demand for interest and costs recovered from him by GEORGE THOMAS, on a judgement for monies which he payed on behalf of the state of PA, for rations furnished a detachment of militia under his command late in the service of the United States. An act for the relief of RUTH HATRICK and ANN DOROTHY GETTIG. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Ruth Hatrick, widow of WILLIAM HATRICK, late of Berks county, a soldier of the late war, fifty dollars immediately. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Ann Dorothy Gettig, of Northumberland county, widow of the late LIEUTENANT GETTIG, an officer in the revolutionary war, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually, to be paid half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. 10 Mar 1817. 85. An act to improve the navigation of the river Delaware. That JACOB MIXSELL, of the borough of Easton, and LEWIS S. CORYELL and COLONEL JOHN KINSEY, of Bucks county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to remove all obstructions of the river Delaware, beginning at the head of the "Foul rift" in Northampton county, to the falls of the Trenton Delaware bridge. WILLIAM ERWIN of Bucks county, and WILLIAM BARNET of Northampton county shall view these places and make a report to the governor, and if favorable work is to continue. 13 Mar 1817. 88. An act for the relief of JACOB HERRINGTON, an old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay unto Jacob Herrington, of Crawford county, the sum of forty dollars immediately and an annuity of forty dollars, to be paid half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. 13 Mar 1817. 90. An act for the relief of CASPER STONER, an old soldier, and others. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Casper Stoner, the sum of forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, to commence on 1 Jan 1817, to be paid half yearly during life. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to EVE DOUGHERTY, of Armstrong county, widow of PATRICK DOUGHTERTY, a soldier in the late war, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually, to commence on 1 Jan 1817, and to continue for five years, provided upon the death or marriage of Eve Dougherty, the annuity shall be paid to the guardian of the minor children of Patrick Dougherty, dec. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to ELIZABETH STICKLE, widow of JOHN STICKLE, late a soldier, fifty dollars immediately. 13 Mar 1817. 92. An act to confer on JANE VAN SCHUYVER the rights and benefits of a child born in lawful wedlock. Whereas, Jane Van Schuyver, the wife of SAMUEL VAN SCHUYVER, of the borough of Bristol, Bucks county, was born a short time before the marriage of her reputed father and mother, therefore Jane Van Schuyver, shall have all the rights of a child born in lawful wedlock, as if she had been born after the marriage of her reputed father and mother. 13 Mar 1817. 93. An act for laying and opening a state road from the north line of PA to Meadville. That JOHN BROOKS and WILLIAM M'GRADY, of Crawford county, and WILLIAM MILES, of Erie county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out the road between Crawford and Warren. 13 Mar 1817. 103. An act to authorize the surviving administrator of the estate of CHARLES CLARKE, and also the executors of WALTER CLARKE and of THOMAS DAVENPORT, to execute deeds for lots. That JOHN LACKEY, surviving administrator of Charles Clarke, late of North Beaver twp., Beaver county, dec., is hereby authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to WILLIAM ADAIR, JAMES FULLERTON and JOHN NESBIT, in trust for the use of the congregation of Westfield, for 1 acre of land, from lot #1771 donation land. That JOHN HUNTER and JOHN CLARKE, executors of Walter Clarke, late of North Beaver twp., Beaver oounty, dec. are hereby authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to William Adair, James Fullerton and John Nesbit, trustees, for 1 acre from lot #1772 in the first district of donation land. That the executors of Thomas Davenport, late of Plymouth twp., Luzerne county, dec., are hereby authorized to execute a deed of conveyance to ABRAHAM VAN LOON, for part of lot #4, in the river tier of meadow lots, containing 8 acres and 150 perches, adjoining lands of JOSHUA PUGH and others, according to the verbal contract entered into in his lifetime. 22 Mar 1817. 109. An act enabling the executors of the last will and testament of MICHAEL MURPHY, dec., to release and convey to JOHN LANEY a tract of land. Whereas, Michael Murphy, late of Cambria county, sold to SAMUEL MOSS, a tract of land, containing 104 1/4 acres, and by deed did by mistake convey another tract of 100 acres instead of the said tract, containing 104 1/4, which Samuel Moss afterwards conveyed all his right and title to John Laney, and Michael Murphy is since deceased, leaving a will, the devisees named are under age, therefore, LUKE M'GUIRE, executor of Michael Murphy, dec., is hereby authorized by any deed to release and convey to John Laney, now lives, situtated in Southampton twp., Bedford county, containing 104 1/4 acres, being a part of a large tract called Armagh, containing 313 acres and 152 perches, granted to Michael Murphy by patent dated 1 Feb 1799, provided Laney releases all his title and claim to the 100 acre tract adjoining the described tract, and sold by Michael Murphy in his lifetime to LEONARD NICKUM. 22 Mar 1817. 110. An act to authorize a permanent bridge to be built over the Swatara from State street in the town of Portsmouth, Dauphin county. Whereas, the proprietor of the town of Portsmouth, Dauphin county, in disposing of the lots reserved $10.00 on the original price of each lot, amounting to $3300.00, in the hands of the several purchasers, to be appropriated to the building of a permanent bridge over the Swatara from State street, and tolls to be applied to the improvement of the streets, and then for a public school for the education of poor children, but no adequate provision has yet been made for building or collecting the money, therefore, GEORGE FISHER, WILLIAM ALLISON, ENOCH SKEER, JOHN DETWILLER, JOHN SWAR and JOHN ELLIOT are hereby authorized to demand, sue for and recover the sum of $10.00 and to build the bridge. 22 Mar 1817. 113. An act to establish a public ferry on the west branch of the Susquehanna river, at the mouth of Nippenose creek, Lycoming county, and to vest the right in HENRY ANTES JR. That Henry Antes Jr., shall have the right, at his own cost, to make a good landing on the river Susquehanna, on the estate of Henry Antes Jr., situate on the great road leading from Jersey Shore to Nippenose valley, opposite the mouth of Nippenose creek, Lycoming county. 22 Mar 1817 114. An act to incorporate the Lackawana turnpike road company. That JOHN STODDART, EBENEZER SLOCUM, EBENEZER DRAKE, JOHN GARDNER and ELEAZER CARY, are hereby appointed commissioners to make a road near ____ WRIGHT's forge on the Lackawana creek, Pittston twp., Luzerne county, to the Easton and Wilkesbarre turnpike, near the thirteen mile stone. 22 Mar 1817. 115. An act to authorize the commissioners of Franklin county, to sell and convey a lot whereon the jail of the county now stands, and to purchase another lot to erect a new one. Whereas, the erection of a new jail in the county of Franklin is necessary, therefore, the commissioners of Franklin county, are hereby authorized to sell and by deed convey the lot situate in Chambersburg, Market and Second streets, #76, with the buildings and appurtenances, being the same lot which BENJAMIN CHAMBERS and SARAH CHAMBERS, his wife, by deed, dated 28 Sep 1784, granted and conveyed to JAMES MAXWELL and others, trustees for Franklin county, and the monies from the sale to be applied to the purchase of other ground and the erection of a new jail. 22 Mar 1817. 116. An act incorporating a school at Meadville. Whereas, DAVID MEAD, by deed of indenture dated 23 Jun 1796, Book H, page 456, Allegheny county court house, did grant to CORNELIUS VANHORN, HENRY REICHARD and LUKE HILL, a lot situate in the town of Meadville, #37, therefore, a school is hereby established under the direction of five trustees, Cornelius Vanhorn, Henry Richard, SAMUEL LORD, SAMUEL TORBETT and WILLIAM FORSTER, all of Mead twp., Crawford county, are hereby the first trustees. 22 Mar 1817. 117. An act authorizing the trustees of the Evangelical German Lutheran congregation of Zion's church in Penns twp., Union county, to sell and convey a piece of land. That it may be lawful for PHILIP MORR and JACOB ROUSCH, as trustees to sell and convey a piece of land containing 42 acres, and to apply the proceeds towards the payment of a debt arising by the erection of a church, reserving 6 acres for a burial ground and as a glebe for the church. 22 Mar 1817. 118. An act granting compensation to FREDERICK FOERING for services performed as deputy master general of the militia of the commonwealth. Whereas, Frederick Foering, of the county of Philadelphia, was appointed deputy quarter master general of the militia and rendered services, and no provision by law to compensate him for services rendered, therefore, the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to Frederick Foering, $510.00 in full for services performed in the years 1813 and 1814. 22 Mar 1817. 119. An act releasing to ELIZABETH CRUM, wife of PETER CRUM, the right of the commonwealth to a escheated estate. Whereas HENRY BACH, late of Menallin twp., Adams county, died intestate, without heirs or kindred, being seized of a certain real estate, which is supposed to have escheated to the commonwealth, and whereas Henry left a widow named ELIZABETH BACH, who has since intermarried with Peter Crum, therefore, all the right and title that may be in this commonwealth, by reason of escheat to a tract of land containing 40 acres, adjoining lands of THOMAS BALDWIN, GEORGE WILSON and others, the same is released to Elizabeth Crum. 24 Mar 1817. 120. An act for the relief of NICHOLAS ANGST, and old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay unto Nicholas Angst, of Schuylkill county, the sum of forty dollars, to be paid half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. 24 Mar 1817. 121. An act appropriating a sum for opening and improving the state road from Logan's narrows, Huntingdon county, to the state road leading to Presque Isle. That the governor, is hereby authorized to draw his warrants upon the state treasurer in favor of WILLIAM BERRY, of Huntingdon county, and ABRAHAM KEAGY and GREENWOOD BELL, of Clearfield county, for the sum of $800.00 to be expended in opening and improving said road. 24 Mar 1817. 123. An act incorporating the subscribers to the PA Botanic Garden. Whereas, for the purpose of establishing a botanic garden in the city of Philadelphia, the subscriptors are hereby declared a body politic and corporate, and the officers are JONAS PRESTON, president, ROBERT RALSTON, SIMON GRATZ, JOSEPH CLOUD, BENJAMIN TUCKER, ROBERT VAUX, REUBEN HAINS, ISAAC C. JONES, JOSHUA LONGSTRETH, EDWARD CLARK, ADAM ECHFELDT and LEWIS CLAPIER, directors. 24 Mar 1817. 124. An act to incorporate the Wind Gap, Nazareth and Hellerstown turnpike company. That WILLIAM HENRY SEN., CHRISTIAN D. SENSEMAN, JOHN HAMAN, HENRY JARRET, GEORGE BUTZ, GEORGE HESS, CHRISTIAN ROTH, JACOB GEISINGER and JONAS ROTHROCK, of Northampton county, and ABRAHAM FERTZ and JOSEPH FRY SEN., of Lehigh county, and WILLIAM GREEN of Bucks county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to make a road commencing in the Easton and Wilkesberre turnpike road, near the Wind Gap, thence through the town of Nazareth, by _____ BUTZ's tavern and Hellerstown, to intersect the Springhouse, Northampton town and Bethlehem turnpike. 24 Mar 1817. 125. An act to incorporate a company to erect a bridge over French creek at the town of Franklin, in Venango county. An act for the relief of FREDERICK SHRIVER, WILLIAM HAMSON, ELIZABETH M'CULLOUGH, and ATCHESON MELLON. That the state treasuer is hereby directed to pay to Frederick Shriver, of Lancaster county, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually during his life, to be paid half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1817. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to William Hamson, of Lebanon county, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually during his life, to be paid half yearly, to commence the 1 Jan 1817. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to Elizabeth M'Cullough, widow of ROBERT M'CULLOUGH, a soldier in the revolutionary war, forty dollars as a gratuity. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JAMES COLLINS, of Lycoming county, for the use of Atcheson Mellon, the annuity granted to Atcheson Mellon by the act passed 1 Mar 1811, is hereby altered. 24 Mar 1817. 128. An act authorizing WILLIAM GULLILAND, WILLIAM KERR and MOSES M'ILVAIN to sell and convey land. Whereas a warrant was granted to JOHN KERR and JOHN MONTEETH, for a piece of land, in trust for the congregation of the Pines, in Straban twp., Adams county. An whereas, John Kerr and John Nonteeth, being both deceased, and the congregation having become extinct, the descendents of the congregation wish to appoint trustees to sell and convey a part of the land and enclose the remainder for a burial ground, therefore, it shall be lawful for William Gilliland, William Kerr and Moses M'Ilvain, as trustees to sell and convey by deed a piece of land containing 12 acres, adjoining lands of ABRAHAM FICKES, WILLIAM CASHMAN and others, and the proceeds applied towards erecting a wall of stones or brick around the ground reserved for a burial ground. 24 Mar 1817. 129. An act to authorize the executors of JACOB ARNDT, dec., in conjunction with JOHN HERSTER, of the borough of Easton, to convey real estate to PHILIP H. MATTES. Whereas Jacob Arndt and John Herster, of the borough of Easton, in Northampton county, were lawfully seized as tenants in common, in a certain messuage and the greater part of two contiguous lots istuate in the public square and Northampton street, in the borough of Easton, #88 and 89, the said land Jacob Arndt and John Herster, sold to Philip H. Mattes by parole, a stone messuage and lot, being part of the above, in consideration of $5200.00 payable in discharge of certain liens existing on the whole of said messuage and contiguous lots, and before any conveyance could be executed to Philip H. Mattes, Jacob Arndt died, therefore, FRANCIS SWAINE and ELIZABETH SWAINE, late ELIZABETH ARNDT, ABRAHAM ARNDT, and JOHN NICE, executors of Jacob Arndt, are hereby authorized in conjunction with John Herster, to grant and convey to Philip H. Mattes, the lots, upon payment of the residue of the purchase money to be paid. 24 Mar 1817. 130. An act to revive and amend an act incorporating the first Presbyterian congregation of the Big Spring in Newtown twp., in Cumberland county. The act passed 27 Feb 1788, is hereby revived, and ATCHESON LAUGHLIN, WILLIAM KILGORE, JOHN GETTIS, RICHARD WOODS, JAMES PURDY, DAVID STERRET and ALEXANDER THOMPSON, are hereby appointed trustees. 24 Mar 1817. 132. An act authorizing the trustees of the Low Dutch congregation in Adams county, to sell and convey a piece of land. Whereas, CORNELIUS COSYN did by deed, convey to FRANCIS COSSART, DAVID VANDINE and DAVID DEMORAST, in trust for the use of the Low Dutch congregation of Calvinists, a piece of land containing 1 acre, and whereas all the trustees are deceased, and the members have become attached to other congregations, the house and land are now lying waste, and the members wish to sell the same. Therefore, it shall be lawful for WILHELMUS HOOGHTALEN, JACOB CASSAT and GARRET BRINKERHOOF as trustees to sell and convey to sell a piece of land with a building erected, situate in Straban twp., Adams county, containing 1 acre, and the proceeds shall be applied towards erecting a permanent wall around the burying ground. 24 Mar 1817. 133. An act providing for compensation to the heirs of CHRISTIAN CROLL, for a tract of land certified to Connecticut claimants, in Salem twp., Luzerne county. That the heirs of Christian Croll require that the board of property shall examine into the title of Christian Croll to a tract of land, situate in Salem twp., Luzerne county, surveyed on a warrant dated 13 Jan 1786, in the name of JACOB SMITHERS, and containing 250 acres, an dif found certified to Connecticut claimants, and that Charistian Croll was fully, fairly entitled to the land, except the holders of certificates granted to Connecticut claimants they shall ascertain the amount paid into the treasury by Christian Croll, and calculate the interest and shall issue a certificate to the heirs and the treasurer is hereby directed to pay the amount, provided the heirs release to the commonwealth all the right and title to the lands. 24 Mar 1817. 134. An act to incorporate a company to make a turnpike road from Berwick, Columbia county, to Williamsport, Lycoming county. That JOHN BORROWS, ABRAHAM GRAFIUS, JONATHAN SMITH, BENJAMIN WARNER of Lycoming county, and JOHN BROWN, DAVID C. OWEN of Columbia county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 24 Mar 1817. 136. An act to enable the administrators of JOSEPH STURGEON to convey a tract of land. Whereas, Joseph Sturgeon, late of West Hanover twp., Dauphin county, dec., did in his lifetime, by parole agreement, sell to JOSEPH WILSON, a tract of land, bounded by lands of CHRISTIAN HERSHIE, JOSEPH WILSON and other lands of Joseph Sturgeon, dec., containing 28 acres and before a deed of conveyance was executed to Joseph Wilson, Joseph Sturgeon died intestate, without making any provisions for completing the contract, that the heirs of the deceased are in their minority, and the purchaser refuses to make further payment until such time as the title is made to him, therefore, JAMES DIXON and WILLIAM CATHCART, administrators of Joseph Sturgeon are hereby enabled to convey by deed, to Joseph Wilson, the tract. 24 Mar 1817. 138. An act to improve the navigation of the Allegheny river, Conowango creek and French creek. That $1000.00 is hereby appropriated for improving the Allegheny river which lies below the town of Franklin and $600.00 between Franklin and the state line, $200.00 for part of Conowango creek, between its junction with the Allegheny river and the state line, and $800.00 for French creek and WILLIAM PORTERFIELD, JOHN M'CALMONT JR., JOHN M'KINNEY, JOHN MARTIN JR., RICHARD PATCH are hereby appointed agents to lay out the money. 24 Mar 1817. 139. An act to incorporate the Chambersburg Water Company. That THOMAS HARTLEY CRAWFORD, PHILIP BERLIN, GEORGE BROWN, JAMES WRIGHT and JACOB GROVE, are hereby appointed commissioners to convey water into the borough of Chambersburg, from a stream or spring by means of pipes, trunks or acqueducts and to provide proper reservoirs. 24 Mar 1817. 141. An act for the relief of PETER FRICKER, an old soldier. An act to authorize the sale of real estate of the late WILLIAM YOUNG and REBECCA YOUNG, his wife, of Oxford twp., Philadelphia county, dec. Whereas, JOSEPH THORNHILL, late of the city of Philadelphia, carpenter, dec., on 2 Feb 1788, granted and conveyed to William Young, of Oxford twp., Philadelphia county, cordwainer, and Rebecca his wife, and the heirs of Rebecca, 3 acres with a small tenement erected, deed recorded 4 Feb 1788, in trust, upon condition William and Rebecca should at their own cost durng the natural life of their son JOSEPH YOUNG, who is now living, and has been blind from his infancy, provide Joseph Young suitable diet, washing, lodging and other necessaries and maintain and keep him during his natural life, and whereas William and Rebecca are deceased, without leaving funds to keep the estate in repair, which is now in a ruinous condition, and whereas William and Rebecca left 6 children, Joseph Young, WILLIAM YOUNG JR., and DAVID YOUNG, KEZIAH HUGHES, SUSAN CASNER and ANN YOUNG, and as Joseph Young is unable to maintain himself because of his blindness, therefore, ISAAC WORRALL and NATHAN HARPER, tanner, both of the borough of Frankford, are hereby authorized to cause to be sold, all the real estate mentioned and to make and execute conveyances to the purchaser, and after paying all expenses, invest the balance in public stock, or mortgage to be held by them in trust, to pay Joseph Young, during his natural life, the interest and at his death to distribute the stock or mrotgage among the children of Rebecca Young. 24 Mar 1817. 146. An act to incorporate two companies for making a road from the city of Pittsburg, through Butler and Mercer to Meadville. That HENRY BALDWIN and WILLIAM ROBESON of the city of Pittsburg, WILLIAM CAMPBELL and JACOB MECKLIN, of the borough of Butler, JAMES MILLER and BEVAN PEARSON, of the borough of Mercer, for the Pittsburg, Butler and Mercer turnpike road company, JOHN REYNOLDS and THOMAS ATKINSON of the town of Meadville, JOSEPH SMITH and JACOB HERRINGTON, of Mercer, for the Mercer and Meadville turnpike road company, are hereby appointed commissioners. 24 Mar 1817. 148. An act declaring creeks, public highways. That Lower Chichester creek, Delaware county, from the mouth to the mill of DAVID TRAINER and GIDEON JAQUES, is hereby declared a public highway. That from the original cross banks adjoining the south west corner of the fast land of DAVID TRAINER JR. until it intersects the bank on the east side of Chichester creek, thence to the bank on the river Delaware, is under the control of the company. 24 Mar 1817. 150. An act to authorize the directors of the poor of Bucks county, to convey an estate. Whereas, JACOB FOX, late of Bedminister twp., Bucks county, by his last will and testament, dated 31 Mar 1783, after bequests to his wife, and grandchildren, and a bequest of one shilling each to his sons, did devise and bequeath the residue of his estate to the poor of Bedminster twp., and the inhabitants are willing that the estate be devised and granted to the heirs of Jacob Fox, therefore, the directors of the poor are hereby directed to grant and convey to the heirs of Jacob Fox, proportions as they would have been entitled to had Jacob Fox died intestate, all the estate he devised to the poor. 24 Mar 1817. 151. An act to vest in HANNA CARROL the right of this commonwealth to the estate of PATRICK CARROL, late of Londonderry twp., Chester county, dec. That all the right and title which the commonwealth may have acquired by reason of any escheat from the want of heirs or kindred of Patrick Carrol, to the estate whereof he died seized is hereby vested in Hanna Carrol. 24 Mar 1817. 153. An act confirming the title of JOHN O'NEIL and WILLIAM ALEXANDER, aliens to property. That the title of John O'Neil, of the borough of Easton, Northampton county (an alien) to a lot in the borough of Easton, #244, by lot conveyed to JACOB SHOUSE, is hereby confirmed, as far as the same may be deficient on account of John O'Neil being an alien, is to all intents and purposes as good as if he had been a citizen of the United States at the time of purchase. That the title of William Alexander, an alien, to a tract of land situate in Hempfield twp., Lancaster county, containing 4 acres, purchased by William Alexander from HUGH KENEDY, is hereby confirmed, as far as it may be deficient on account of him being an alien at the time of purchase. 24 Mar 1817. 154. An act to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over Big Beaver, near the ferry occupied by CHARLES MORROW. That JOSEPH T. That it shall be lawful for John May to erect and maintain a good bridge over French creek, at the place where the public road from the town of Meadville, Crawford county, to the town of Mercer, Mercer county, crosses, below the mouth of Little Conyaut creek, near the house of John May, and the property of the bridge is hereby vested in John May. 24 Mar 1817. 165. An act making appropriations for internal improvements. That the sum of $2000.00 is hereby appropriated for the improvement of a road beginning at the intersection of the Block house road (otherwise known by the name of Williamson's road) along Lycoming creek across the head of Towanda, to the state line on New York, $1000.00 to that part of the road lying between EZRA SPALDING's and the intersection of the Block house or Williamson's road, to be paid to the order of JOHN GRAHAM, HENRY HEWS and JOHN HARMAN, the other $1000.00 to that part of the road lying between Ezra Spalding's out of the state line onf New York, to be paid to NOAH WILSON, JOHN WILBER, and WILLIAM FERMAN. That the sum of $700.00 is hereby appropriated to aid in the erection of wharves or embankments in front of the town of Kittaning, in Armstrong county, and ROBERT BROWN, HENRY JACK and MICHAEL MACKLIN are hereby appointed commissioners to superintend the application of the monies hereby granted. That the governor is hereby authorized to subscribe on behalf of the commonwealth, to the stock of the Huntingdon, Cambria and Indiana turnpike road company, 600 additional shares, to be applied t that part of the road between Blair's Gap and MARTIN R EGER's. That sum of $300.00 is hereby appropriated for opening and improving a road from Jonestown, Labanon county, to Wilkesbarre, passing through Northampton county, commencing at the line of Rush twp., Schuylkill county, to the line of Luzerne county, to be paid to WILLIAM MAJOR. That the sum of $400.00 is hereby appropriated for the purpose of repairing and improving the state road from Franklin county line to the forks of the road on the top of Sideling hill, Bedford county, to be paid to DAVID FIELDS and GEORGE DANSDILL, of Dublin twp. Bedford county. That sum of $1600.00 is hereby appropriated for the purpose of opening and improving a road laid out from the borough of Carlisle, Cumberland county, to Littleton, Bedford county, to be expended on the part between Roxberry and Fort Littleton, paid to JOHN DEARDORF, JOSEPH COLE and JAMES M'CURDY ESQ., of Franklin county, and DAVID FIELDS of Bedford county. An act to authorize the sale of real estate, late the property of PETER ALBERT, dec. Whereas, Peter Albert, late of Mahanoy twp., Northumberland county, dec., (now Upper Mahanoy twp.) died, leaving a widow and issue, PETER ALBERT JR., ELIZABETH ALBERT (intermarried with MOSES VAIL), RACHEL ALBERT (intermarried with JOHN DARRECK), PHILLIPINA ALBERT (intermarried with JOHN BUNDY), EVE ALBERT, deceased, (leaving one child GEORGE DARRECK), and MARGARET ALBERT, and Peter Albert by his last will and testament, did devise to his wife for life, two tracts of land and the widow is since deceased, that Margaret Albert, daughter of Peter Albert, has by due course of law, been declared a lunatic, and JACOB ZARTMAN, ADAM LINKER and ABRAHAM M'KINNEY appointed a committee to take care of her person and estate. An act for the relief of the heirs of CAPTAIN ISAAC SEELY. Whereas, Isaac Seely, a captain in the fifth regiment of the PA line, was entitled to a donation tract of land of 500 acres, and on 8 May 1803, a patent issued from the commonwealth to ELIZABETH HUNT, late widow, and children of Isaac Seely, for 500 acres in district #10, Erie county, for a donation tract #193, and situate in the triangle purchased from the United States, therefore, the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay unto the heirs of Captain Isaac Seely, dec., the sum of $750.00 in lieu of the tract of donation land #193 containing 500 acres, provided Elizabeth Hunt, widow of Isaac Seely, dec., release to the commonwealth all the right and title to the lands. 25 Mar 1817. 174. Resolved that WALTER LOWRIE, is hereby appointed a commissioner to meet the commissioners of the states of Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana, to examine the obstructions in the Ohio river, noting the probable expense relative to the navigation of the Ohio river, and the governor be requested to transmit a copy to the Governors of the other states. 25 Mar 1817. 5. Resolved that BENJAMIN R. MORGAN, of the city of Philadelphia, ROBERT HARRIS of Dauphin county, JOHN BOYD of Northumberland county, WILLIAM WILSON of Lycoming county, and JOHN HOLLENBACK of Bradford county, are hereby appoined commissioners to examine in conjunction with Maryland commissioners, the river Susquehanna to consider means best calculated to improve its navigation, and the governor is requested to transmit a copy to the governor of Maryland. 25 Mar 1817.
