Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In General Assembly met and is hereby enacted by the Authority of the Same. 5. A supplement to an act providing for the furnishing of the state capitol. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to STEPHEN HILLS, architect, the sum of $3000.00 it being the balance due him, by contract, for erecting and completing the state capitol. 23 Jan 1822. 9. An act to authorize MAGDALEN EWING, widow of JOHN EWING, dec., to mortgage his real estate. That Magdalen Ewing, widow of John Ewing, late of the city of Philadelphia, dec., be authorized to borrow on mortgage of the real estate of her husband, such sums necessary for the purpose of paying the debts of the estate, and supporting and educating the minor children. 29 Jan 1822. 10. An act for the relief of DANIEL M'NEIL, an old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to DANIEL M'NEIL, of Montgomery county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars during life payable half yearly. 29 Jan 1822. 15. A supplement to an act to contract with JOHN BIOREN, for printing the sixth volume of the laws. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay immediately, to John Bioren, $600.00 in advance, for printing the sixth volume of the laws of this commonwealth. 8 Feb 1822. 17. An act to enable the administrators of JOSEPH BALL, dec., to maintain and defend suits, etc. That in all actions of ejectment brought by or against the late Joseph Ball, and now pending in any court, the administrators may sue and prosecute or defend actions of ejectment and trespass, and other actions. It shall be lawful for the executors to release and convey any estate, receive money and give releases. 8 Feb 1822. 18. An act compensating WILLIAM POWER, of Perry county, for services rendered. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to WILLIAM POWER, $405.00, it being the amount of interest due him, on surveying fees for making and returning sixty surveys for JOHN NICHOLSON, on which the commonwealth has a lien. 8 Feb 1822. 19. An act to authorize ISAAC LEEDOM, guardian of HARRIOT WINING, to sell and convey real estate. That Isaac Leedom, guardian of Harriot Wining, a minor child of JACOB WINING, dec., is hereby authorized to sell all rights and title in a certain tract of land situate in Eastnantmel twp., Chester county, adjoining lands of GEORGE WINING and others, bequeathed to HENRY WINING, by the last will and testament of Jacob Wining the elder, dec. containing 100 acres, and to make and execute a deed to the purchaser. 13 Feb 1822. 20. An act to incorporate the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company. Whereas, an act passed 20 Mar 1818, to improve the navigation of the river Lehigh, the legislature did grant to JOSIAH WHITE, GEORGE F.A. HAUTO, and ERSKINE HAZARD, certain rights and powers, and by deed dated 10 Aug 1818, convey to trustees to the company all right vested in them by the act, reserving certain residuary profits and privileges in the management of the company, and as they did by purchase become the proprietors of estates in sundry tracts of coal land, situate near the Lehigh, which for the purpose of raising funds to work their coal mines, did by deed dated 20 Oct 1818, convey them to the company, reserving certain rights and privileges in the management, and did unite themselves on 21 Apr 1820, as the Lehigh Navigation and Coal company, etc. 13 Feb 1822. 25. An act for the relief of MOLLY M'KOLLY, for her services during the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to Molly M'Kolly, of Cumberland county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to commence on 1 Jan 1822, payable half yearly during life. 21 Feb 1822. 27. An act for the relief of WILLIAM HARBISON and PETER KIDD, old soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to William Harbison, of Butler county, and to Peter Kidd, of Washington county, the sum of forty dollars each immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1822. 21 Feb 1822. 28. An act to authorize the executors of the last will of GEORGE HALLER, dec., to sell real estate. That DAVID CASSET and PETER SCHULTS, executors of the late will of George Haller, late of York, York county, dec., be authorized to sell and convey as much of the real estate for the purpose of paying the debts of the deceased as the court shall direct. 27 Feb 1822. 29. An act authorizing the laying out a road from Pennsborough to Danville. That ABRAHAM TAYLOR, of Lycoming county, DANIEL MONTGOMERY and MATTHEW COLVIN, of Columbia county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a state road from Pennsborough, Lycoming county, by way of the town of Washington to Danville, Columbia. 27 Feb 1822. 31. An act for the elections in the borough of Strasburg and village of Manheim, Lancaster county. That the electors of the village of Manheim, Rapho twp., Lancaster county, shall at the house now occupied by JOHN JEFFERIES, shall elect two citizens, one of whom will be appointed constable. 27 Feb 1822. 34. An act for the relief of sundry soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to ROBERT CRAWFORD, of Westmoreland county, MICHAEL YEISLY, of Union county, PETER CRAWFORD, of Berks county, and SAMUEL BLAIR of Northumberland county, the sum of forty dollars each immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to each, to commence on 1 Jan 1822, to be paid half yearly. 28 Feb 1822. 35. An act altering the line dividing the counties of Crawford and Venango. The dividing line now includes the corner of #1210, north to a tract of land claimed by JAMES LUCE, thence east to 3 tracts of warranted land formerly the property of the Holland Land Company, and warranted in the names of RICHARD GILL, SAMUEL GILL and PETER GILL, east across a small strip of vacant land in the name of DANIEL M'COMBS #12, east the length of 8 tracts of settlement lands to the south east corner of the 8th tract #84, and warranted in the name of MOSES LONG, to where the line intersects the line of Crawford and Warren counties. 28 Feb 1822. 36. An act for the relief of MOSES TOWNSEND, of Greene county, and MARY HAMILTON, of Lancaster county. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay Moses Townsend, of Greene county, the sum of $150.00, as compensation for his services and expenses in the capturing of ASA WORTHINGTON, by virtue of the Governor's proclamation dated 16 Feb 1820. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay Mary Hamilton, of Lancaster county, the sum of $50.00, being the amount of money she paid to Moses Townsend, for apprehending Asa Worthington. 28 Feb 1822. 37. An act to authorize the trustees of the German Reformed Congregation the city of Lancaster, to dispose of real estate. That JOHN REITZEL, JOHN LEONARD and GEORGE MESSERSMITH, trustees of the German Reformed congregation in the city of Lancaster, are hereby authorized to sell two lots in the city of Lancaster, #526 & 527, which was purchased in 1820 by the minister, trustees etc. from PETER BIER and CATHARINE BIER, his wife, and to execute a deed of conveyance to the purchaser. 28 Feb 1822. 38. An act authorizing the review of part of a state road. That JOHN M'ALLEN, ALEXANDER WALKER and GEORGE DANSDILL, are hereby authorized to meet at Strasburg, Franklin county, to review the state road which leads from Strasburg, to the top of Sideling Hill, Bedford county, and also to view a route to intersect the southern turnpike at or near C. REAMERS, and to lay out the same. 28 Feb 1822. 39. A supplement to an act for the relief of PETER FRICKER, an old soldier. Whereas, by an act passed 24 Mar 1817, an annuity was granted to Peter Fricker, an old soldier, and the same was directed to be paid to FREDERICK HELLER ESQ., in trust for Peter. And whereas, Frederick is desirous of declining that office, therefore, the annuity granted to Peter Fricker, is in the future, to be paid to JACOB GOODMAN, of Reading, Berks county. 28 Feb 1822. 43. An act vesting a title. That the officers of the land office are authorized to issue a patent and title without charge, for 10 acres and 153 perches of land, situate in in Franklin twp., York county, (adjoining lands of JOHN HIGAS, JOHN ERNST and FREDERICK HOKE,) unto trustees in trust for the sole use and benefit of the German Lutheran and Presbyterian congregation, and the trustees shall be JOHN SHULTZ, DAVID MYERS, VALENTINE HIGAS, and MICHAEL BENDER. 6 Mar 1822. 45. A supplement to an act laying out a state road. That the report made by EPHRAIM ESTEP and JAMES WIER, commissioners appointed by the act passed 2 Apr 1821, to lay a state road from Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland county, through Bellvernon and Bentleysville, to intersect the national road east of Washington, Washington county, is hereby confirmed and rendered valid. The compensation which CHARLES FULWOOD would have been entitled to, had he acted as a commissioners, shall be allowed to CHARLES DEHASS for services rendered in surveying the road. 6 Mar 1822. 47. An act authorizing the state treasurer to pay contractors. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay unto the administrators of ISAAC MARKLEY, late of Montgomery county, dec., and to the assignees of SAMUEL BARD of Montgomery county, who were contractors on the Ridge road turnpike, in proportion to their claims. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JOHN NOBLE, of the county of Bedford, a contractor on the Chambersburg and Bedford turnpike road company, the sum of $414.07. 11 Mar 1822. 48. An act for the relief of the estate of WILLIAM BINGHAM, dec. Whereas, William Bingham Esq., formerly of the city of Philadelphia, did on 13 Jan 1804, make and publish his last will and testament in writing and did devise unto ALEXANDER BARING, HENRY BARING, ROBERT GILMOR, THOMAS MAYNE WILLING and CHARLES WILLING HARE, all his real estate, lands etc. upon trust for the uses in the will. And whereas, Charles Willing Hare, one of the trustees, has been declared to be a lunatic and non compos mentis, and a committee has been appointed, and whereas, Robert Gilmor, trustee, has departed this life, whereas, all the estate of William Bingham, at Robert Gilmor 's decease shall be vested in two additional persons. 11 Mar 1822. 49. An act to annul the marriage of JOHN R. LIVINGSTON and ELIZA LIVINGSTON, his wife. That the marriage contract entered into by John R. Livingston, alias JOHN LIVINGSTON, alias JOHN ROSENKRANTZ, alias WILLIAM STEWART and Eliza his wife, of Philadelphia county, is hereby declared to be null and void and they are hereby free from all legal duties as fully as if they had never been joined in marriage. 11 Mar 1822. 50. A supplement to an act erecting part of Cumberland county into a separate county, to be called Perry. That MOSES RANKIN, of York county, JAMES HINDMAN, of Chester county, PETER FRAILEY of Schuylkill county, DAVID FULLERTON of Franklin county, and JAMES AGNEW, of Bedford county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to determine the seat of the county. 11 Mar 1822. 52. A supplement to the act for the improvement of the state. That RICHARD ALLEN of Luzerne county, JAMES HAYS and JACOB SHOUSE, of Northampton county, are hereby appointed commissioners to view and inspect two roads leading from the Lehigh Bridge to the Lehigh Water Gap. 11 Mar 1822. 55. An act incorporating the Presbyterian Congregations of Norriton and Lower Providence, in the county of Montgomery. That the trustees, STEPHEN PORTER, JOHN M'FARLAND, ANDREW TODD, ARCHIBALD DARRAH, JOSEPH CRAWFORD, JOHN PATTERSON, JOSEPH HENRY, WILLIAM M. WHITE and DAVID GETTYS, are hereby erected into one body politic and corporate. 18 Mar 1822. 58. An act incorporating the town of Lewisburg, Union county, into a borough. The borough of Lewisburg is bounded: Beginning at the west branch of the Susquehanna river at the corner of JACOB CENTMYERS and MARGARET SPIDLER's land, thence by land of WILLIAM SHAW, JAMES BENNET, JAMES GEDDIS, GEORGE BERRYMAN and WILLIAM HAYS, to a pine on a line of land of GEORGE DERR, thence to Buffaloe creek, to the river. That JOHN NESBIT and ALEXANDER GRAHAM of the town, shall publish and superintend the elections. 21 Mar 1822. 59. An act to enable ROBERT M. WAUGH, administrator of WILLIAM BROWN, dec., to sell and convey real estate. That it may be lawful for Robert M. Waugh, administrator of William Brown, dec. at the request of MARY SPEER, to sell and convey all or part of a tract of land situate in New London twp., Chester county, which JOSEPH SPEER, by indenture dated 2 Sep 1816, conveyed to William Brown, in trust for Mary Speer, and to make a good deed to the purchaser, and the proceeds to be for the use of Mary Speer. 21 Mar 1822. 61. An act to fix the number of Senators and Representatives. The judges of the district composed of the counties of Berks and Schuylkill, shall meet at the house of JOHN BAILEY in Hamburg, in the county of Berks, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Dauphin and Lebanon, shall meet at the public house of JOHN WOLFERSBERGER, in Campbellstown, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Northumberland and Union, shall meet at the house now in possession of RANDALL WILCOX, in the borough of Lewisburg, Union county, the judges of the district composed of Luzerne and Columbia, shall meet at the house now occupied by SAMUEL HEADLEY, in Berwick, Columbia county, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Lycoming, Centre, Clearfield, M'Kean, and Potter, shall meet at the house now occupied by ASHER HUNT, at Bald Eagle Bridge, Centre county, the judges of the district composed of the counties of York and Adams, shall meet at the house now occupied by HENRY BEAR, in Hanover, York county, the judges of the district composed of Huntingdon and Mifflin, shall meet at the house of JOHN REED, in Belleville, Mifflin county, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Washington and Greene shall meet at the house formerly occupied by HENRY CARTER, in the town of Amity, Washington county, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Allegheny, Beaver and Butler, shall meet at the house now occupied by MARTIN BYRNES, in Pine twp., Allegheny county, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Somerset and Bedford, shall meet at the house of JOHN STATLER, Allegheny mountain, the judges of the district composed of the counties of Venango, Warren, Armstrong, Indiana, Jefferson and Cambria, shall meet at the house now occupied by PHILIP CLOVER, in the county of Armstrong. 25 Mar 1822. 63. An act for the relief of the heirs of JOHN DUNN, a soldier of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay unto the heirs of John Dunn, the sum of $200.00, in full satisfaction for a tract of donation land. 25 Mar 1822. 64. A supplement to the act for the improvement of the state. That MICHAEL KUTZNER, JOHN JONES, (of Shamoken twp.) and COL. JOHN MILLER, of Northumberland county, are authorized to view two routes of a road already laid out from the foot of the Big Mountain to the foot of the Little Mountain, Columbia county, and after viewing each route from the foot of Big Mountain to JOHN YAGER's tavern, the remaining money from the act shall be applied for the improvement thereof. 25 Mar 1822. 65. A supplement to an act granting compensation to JOHN KOONS. That the name of DAVID SHOEMAKER, in the act passed 2 Apr 1821, shall be construed and understood as DANIEL SHOEMAKER, and all privileges intended to be granted to John Koons, shall vest to John Koons, as though the name of Daniel Shoemaker had been inserted in the original act, and the name of David Shoemaker shall be considered null and void. 25 Mar 1822. 66. An act for the relief of FREDERICK BIRD, FREDERICK WENDT, and JOHN M'CLAIN, soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Frederick Bird of Philadelphia county, and John M'Clain, late of Cumberland county, each, the sum of forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, payable half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1822. That the state treasurer is hereby authoried to pay to Frederick Wendt, of Union county, a gratuity of forty dollars immediately. 26 Mar 1822. 68. An act to authorize SAMUEL BELL, of Berks county, to erect a toll bridge over the river Schuylkill, near his present fording place, and opposite the road known by the name of Lardner's lane. 26 Mar 1822. 70. An act authorizing the laying out a state road. That THOMAS BARR, of Armstrong county, THOMAS ENOCHS and WILLIAM M'CANDLESS, of Allegheny county, are hereby appointed commissioners to view and lay out a state road from the town of Kittanning, Armstrong county, thence to Pittsburg. 29 Mar 1822. 71. An act for the relief of SIDNEY PENDERGRASS, DEBORAH M'COY, and MARGARET CAPPLE. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Sidney Pendergrass, of Cumberland county, widow and relict of LAWRENCE PENDERGRASS, a soldier of the revolutionary war, to Deborah M'Coy, of Indiana county, widow and relict of DANIEL M'COY, a soldier of the revolutionary war, and to Margaret Capple, of the county of Bucks county, widow and relict of CHARLES CAPPLE, a soldier of the revolutionary war, an annuity of forty dollars each, to commence on 1 Jan 1822, to be paid half yearly during life. 29 Mar 1822. 73. An act to confer on JOHN KENWORTHY and MARY KENWORTHY, the rights and privileges of children born in lawful wedlock That John and Mary, infant children of MARY WEST, of the city of Philadelphia, are hereby invested with the surname of their reputed father John Kenworthy of Philadelphia, and under the names of John Kenworthy and Mary Kenworthy, shall have all the rights, and advantages of children born in lawful wedlock, as if their reputed father had been married to their mother. 29 Mar 1822. 75. An act incorporating the German Reformed and German Lutheran congregation of Whitemarsh twp., Montgomery county. Nothing in this act shall interfere with the provisions and restrictions contained in a deed of conveyance, dated 17 Oct 1818, between PHILIP SELLERS ESQ., and wife, and HENRY SHEETZ, JOHN HANEY, JACOB GILBERT, and CHRISTOPHER GRAFFLEY, trustees of the religious congregations. 30 Mar 1822. 78. An act to incorporate the trustees of the proprietors of Kingston, in Luzerne county. That until the election of officers of the corporation, LAZARUS DENISON, JOHN BENNET and ELIAS HOYT, the present committee of the proprietors of the twp., shall be vested with the powers of trustees. 30 Mar 1822. 79. An act for the relief of sundry soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JOHN M'CALLISTER, of Montgomery county, JOHN M'LEOD, of Butler county, JEREMIAH BANNEN, of Beaver county, and SOLOMON ADAMS, of Bedford county, the sum of forty dollars each immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, to commence on 1 Jan 1822, to be paid half yearly during life. 30 Mar 1822. 80. An act for relief of sundry soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JAMES BARRETT, of Columbia county, to CHARLES WALLACE of Chester county, and to WILLIAM GUTHRIE, of Armstrong county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, to commence on 1 Jan 1822, to be paid half yearly during life. 30 Mar 1822. 83. An act incorporating the Kimberton and Yellow Springs Turnpike company. That JOHN ROGERS, JOSEPH M. PAUL, EDWARD SITER, DAVID WILSON, MAJOR M'VAUGH, JAMES BONES and EMMOR KIMBER, are hereby appointed commissioners, for the road which shall commence in the Philadelphia and Lancaster turnpike road, near the Spread Eagle tavern, to Valley Forge, passing through Kimberton to the Yellow Springs. 30 Mar 1822. 87. An act to enable the trustees of the Lutheran and Calvanist congregation of Trindle's Spring, in Cumberland county, to exchange part of the lands of the congregation. That JOHN SAILOR, ANDREW EMINGER SR., HENRY KELLER and FREDERICK BRENNER, trustees of the Lutheran and Calvanist congregation of Trindle's Spring, Cumberland county, are hereby empowered to exchange a part of lands of the congregation, with JACOB MYERS, for so much of the lands of Jacob Myers as may be necessary to afford a free communication from the meeting house an dcongregation, to the public road leading from THOMAS FISHER's mill to the mill of DAVID WILLIAMS on Yellow Breeches creek, and the trustees are hereby authorized to execute to Jacob Myers and receive from him, in trust, all deeds of conveyance as may be necessary. 1 Apr 1822. 91. An act declaring Auchwick, Sidling Hill, Bald Eagle, Stoney, and Sinnemahoning creeks, and a part of Little Juniata river, in Huntingdon, Bedford, Somerset, Centre and M'Kean counties, public highways. That Auchwick creek, in the counties of Huntingdon, and Bedford, from the mouth, to JOHN WILDE's mill, is hereby declared a public highway. That Sidling Hill creek, from its mouth to the mouth of Woodenbridge creek, Bald Eagle creek, Centre county, from JOSEPH WILLIAMS' saw-mill to the mouth of Laurel run, and the North Branch of Sinnemahoning creek, in M'Kean county, from the Drift Wood to the mouth of North Creek, are hereby declared public highways. That the waters of Little Juniata river, in Antes twp., Huntingdon county, as far up the river to the saw mill dam of ALEXANDER ALE and DANIEL ALE, is hereby declared to be a public highway, and that Stoney creek below the mill dam of PETER BERKY ESQ., to the mill dam of GEORGE KIMMEL ESQ., in the county of Somerset, is hereby declared a public highway. 1 Apr 1822. 94. An act authorizing the sdministratrix and administrator of the estate of JAMES LINDSEY, dec. to convey lots. Whereas, James Lindsey, dec, late of Greene county, did by written bond obligate and bind himself to convey to WILLIAM FLETCHER, two lots in the town of Jefferson, Greene county, which bond has been lost or mislaid, in consequence of which, MARY LINDSEY, administratrix, and THOMAS HUGHES JR., administor of the estate of the dec., have by bond bearing date 31 Aug 1819, bound themselves with William Fletcher, to make him a sufficient deed for the two lots and have also given William Fletcher a release from any demand of purchase money, therefore, the administrators are hereby authorized to make and execute a deed of conveyance to William Fletcher, for two lots #25 and 27. 1 Apr 1822. 95. An act for the relief of MARY GUYER, widow of PETER GUYER, a soldier fo the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to Mary Guyer, of Franklin county, widow of Peter Guyer, an old soldier, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1822. 1 Apr 1822. 97. An act relative to the Paoli parade ground. Whereas the members of the Chester and Delaware county battalions of volunteers, have contracted for the purchase of land in Willistown twp., Chester county, on which is placed the Paoli monument, as a parade ground, therefore, it shall be lawful for the owner of the ground to grant and convey the same to the commanding officers of the battalions. 2 Apr 1822. 100. An act for the relief of SAMUEL KELLY, an old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Samuel Kelly, of Indiana county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1822, payable half yearly. 2 Apr 1822. 101. An act for the relief of sundry soldiers, and widows of soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to CHARLES OLDWINE, of Washington county, in the state of Maryland, the sum of forty dollars immediatley, and an annuity of forty dollars to comence on 1 Jan 1822, to be paid half yearly during life. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JOHN HANNAH, of Clark county, in the state of Kentucky, the sum of $200.00, in full satisfaction for a tract of donation land. That the state treasurer is required to pay to JOHN HESSER, of Schuylkill county, a gratuity of forty dollars. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to ANDREW STOLL, of Bucks county, and to ROBERT THOMPSON, of Dauphin county, forty dollars each, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each to commence on 1 Jan 1822, to be paid half yearly during life. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to DANIEL M'MARTH, of Allegheny county, $33.30 in full for arrearages of pay, for services rendered during the revolutionary war. An act for the relief of sundry old soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby directed to pay to GEORGE SIDLE, of York county, and JOHN NEIL, of Chester county, forty dollars each immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each during life, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1822. Whereas, DAVID REYNOLDS, the present guardian of BARNARD VALENTINE, is desirous of being released from the trust reposed in him, as Barnard Valentine has removed to the state of Ohio. Therefore, after the 1 Feb next, the annuity of forty dollars granted for the use of Barnard Valentine, shall be paid to DANIEL CHRISTY, of Mifflin county, to be expended in providing clothing and diet for Barnard Valentine. An act to improve the navigation of the river Monongahela. That SOLOMON KRIPPS and JOSEPH ENOCHS, of Fayette county, and WILLIAM LECKEY, of Pittsburg, are hereby appointed commissioners to have removed all obstructions which impede the navigation of the river Monongahela. HENRY HEATON, of Fayette county, JOHN BROWNLEE, of Washington county, and JOHN WALKER, of Allegheny county, shall view as commissioners, one fourth of the subscription. 2 Apr 1822. 108. An act to vest certain real estate in the contributors to the Union School in Tredyffrin twp., Chester county. That plantation or lot of land devised by the last will and testament of ANN GEORGE, late of Tredyffrin twp., Chester county, dec., unto DOCTOR JOHN DAVIS and JOHN BARTHOLOMEW, containing 17 acres, is hereby granted and vested in the corporation of the Union School and the profits applied according to the intent in the will of Ann George. That the corporation is hereby authorized to sell the premises and to make a title for the same, provided the profits shall be applied to the support of a school within one mile. 2 Apr 1822. 111. An act establishing a ferry on the west branch of the river Susquehanna. That the heirs of MICHAEL ROSS, dec., shall have the right to establish a ferry, and shall make good and sufficient landings on their own land on the north and west sides of the river Susquehanna, opposite Market Street in the borough of Williamsport, Lycoming county. 2 Apr 1822. 112. An act extending the time for the payment of purchase money. That the balance of the purchase money and interest remaining due to the state, form JAMES MOORE, of Beaver county, on account of a certain fractional part of the reserved tract of land at the mouth of Beaver creek, in Beaver county, granted to him by act passed 22 Jan 1803, shall be paid to the treasury in six annual payments, with interest, and upon payment in full the land officers are hereby authorized to issue a patent for the tract of land. 2 Apr 1822. 113. An act vesting the right of this commonwealth to certain real estate. That all right and title which the commonwealth has acquired by escheat to a messuage or lot of ground situate in the borough of York, #165, whereof MATTHEW CHAPMAN died seized, without leaving any heirs or known kindred, one moiety including the western half of the lot, is hereby vested in LEWIS ROSENMILLER and JAMES SHALL, as the trustees of DANIEL HARRY, in trust for the benefit of the creditors of Daniel Harry, to be disposed in conformity to the deed of agreement, and the remaining moiety, including the eastern half of the lot shall be hereby vested in CATHARINE HOOVER. 2 Apr 1822. 115. An act authorizing ISAAC STOUT and GEORGE STOUT, executors, to sell and convey real estate. That Isaac Stout and George Stout, executors of the last will and testament of Isaac Stout, late of Williams twp., Northampton county, dec., are hereby authorized to execute and deliver a deed of conveyance for all land sold by the testor in his life time, and to sell and convey all the remainder of the real estate and distribute the proceeds to the proper heirs according to the will. 2 Apr 1822. 116. An act authorizing WILLIAM RAMSEY to convey a lot in the borough of Carlisle, Cumberland county. That William Ramsey, of Cumberland County, is hereby authorized to convey to JOHN W.L. HOGE, according to the articles of agreement, dated 11 Jun 1817, a certain lot with appurtenances, situate in the borough of Carlisle, #156, bounded on the north by North street and the east by Hanover street, on the south by lot #155, and on the west by lot #128. 2 Apr 1822. 120. An act authorizing the Secretary of the land office to issue a patent. That as soon as the purchase money, interest and fees due, are paid, the Secretary of the Land office is hereby authorized to issue a patent to ELIHU MORRIS, administrator of the estate of RICHARD MORRIS JR., dec., for the land surveyed in pursuance of a warrant granted to THOMAS FORSHEY, on the 5 Apr 1796, for 400 acres situate in the south west side of Bates' fork of Ten-mile creek, adjoining lands claimed by JOHN HOGE, HENRY PURVIANCE and others, then in Washington county, now in Greene, in trust to convey to JEREMIAH COLE, MARY COLE, wife of JOHN COLE, and MICHAEL RUPE. 2 Apr 1822. 121. An act to complete the titles to land sold by the trustees of Dickinson College. That the Secretary of the Land office, is hereby authorized to execute and deliver deeds, conveying all the right, and title of the commonwealth, to NATHAN WILCOX, WILLIAM BATES, ABNER C. ROCKWELL, DANIEL WILCOX, WILLIAM B. SPALDING, NOAH SPALDING, AMY CRANMER, SAMUEL WILCOX and WILLIAM MEANS, to the several tracts of land situate in Bradford county, which the trustees of Dickinson college had agreed to sell to them, but the title had become vested in the commonwealth, that is to say, to Nathan Wilcox all that tract of land by the courses and distances, mentioned in a certain diagram furnished by ZEPHON FLOWERS, to SAMUEL BAIRD, B. LAPORTE, and THOMAS OVERTON, and a copy is filed in the office of the secretary of this commonwealth, #1 containing 105 acres and 101 perches, he Nathan Wilcox paying the sum of $388.29 with interest. To William Bates, all that tract mentioned in #2 containing 36 acres and 71 perches, paying the sum of $123.62 with interest. To Abner C. Rockwell, all that tract #3, containing 268 acres, and 73 perches, for the sum of $986.79 with interest. To Danial Wilcox, that tract #4, containing 277 acres, 139 perches, for the sum of $864.30 with interest. An act to incorporate the Widow and Orphan Assurance society of the city and county of Lancaster. That CHRISTIAN ENDRESS, D.D., the present president, JOSEPH CLARKSON, the present vice president, GEORGE L. MAYER, the present treasurer, WILLIAM WHITE, the present secretary, and EBENEZER WRIGHT, NATHANIEL LIGHTNER, ROBERT EVANS, BENJAMIN OBER, GEORGE MUSSER, DR. SAMUEL FAHNESTOCK, and DR. F. A. MUHLENBERG, the present directors, are hereby incorporated into a society. The first election shall take place on 19 Feb 1822, at the house of WILLIAM COOPER, in the city of Lancaster. 2 Apr 1822. 125. An act to revive an act incorporating the Bethany and Canaan Turnpike road. That the act passed 5 Feb 1817 is hereby revived. That the time allowed, to authorize JOHN ERNST and SAMUEL SHERER to erect a toll bridge over Swatara creek, near the place known by the name of Ernst or Sherers' ferry, in the county of Dauphin, for the completion to be extended two years, and DANIEL ADAMS, JOHN BEER and JOHN CLARK, are hereby appointed additional commissioners. 2 Apr 1822. 126. An act to incorporate an academy or public school in the town of Warren. Trustees of Warren academy, JOSEPH HACKNEY, LATHROPE S. An act vesting powers in the orphans' court of Centre county. That the orphans' court of Centre county, is hereby authorized to order the administrators of JOHN DUNLAP, dec., to make sale of all or part of the lands belonging to the estate of the deceased, that may lie in part of Lycoming county, and was annexed to the said county 27 Mar 1819. 2 Apr 1822. 130. A supplement to incorporate the Luzerne and Wayne county turnpike road. It shall be lawful to change the route within Wayne county, so as to end at the east bank of Wallenpaupack creek, where the old Wyoming road crosses near the house of IRA KELLUM in Pike county. 2 Apr 1822. 136. An act relative to the real estate of WILLIAM HENDERSON, late of Montgomery county, dec., and JACOB RAMSEY. That JOHN MARKLEY, intermarried with ELIZABETH HENDERSON, administratrix of the estate of William Henderson, late of the county of Montgomery, dec., and Jacob Ramsey, are hereby authorized to make partition of several tracts of land in the commonwealth, held by William Henderson dec., and Jacob Ramsey as tenents in common. That John Markley, upon partition, is hereby authorized to release and make title to Jacob Ramsey which all the partition has assigned to him in severalty. 2 Apr 1822. 137. An act authorizing JANE HUTCHINSON, wife of ANDREW HUTCHINSON, who is non compos mentis, to join in making partition of the real estate late of NATHANIEL BRITTAIN, deceased. Whereas, the children and heirs of Nathaniel Brittain, late of Lower Mount Bethel twp., Northampton county, have agreed to make partition of the real estate of the deceased, but have been unable to complete the same, in consequence of Andrew Hutchinson, who is intermarried with Jane, one of the daughters of the deceased, being non compos mentis, therefore, Jane Hutchinson, of Lower Mount Bethel twp., is hereby authorized to join the other heirs of Nathaniel Brittain dec., in making partition of the real estate and make conveyances or releases to the other heirs for such part alloted to her, as if Jane was sole and unmarried. 2 Apr 1822. 138. An act authorizing the sale of real estate. That it shall be lawful for PHILIP H. An act relating to roads north and west of the rivers Ohio and Allegheny. That Wilkins twp., Allegheny county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their house now occupied by FRANCIS WILSON, on the Franktown road. That Salem twp., Westmoreland county, is hereby erected into a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house of JACOB LINSIBIGLER, innkeeper. That the electors of part of Middle Smithfield twp., Pike county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by JOHN BRICE. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to William Joshnston, of York county, the sum of forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to commence on 1 Jan 1822, payable half yearly during life. 2 Apr 1822. 151. An act to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road from Butler to Franklin. That WILLIAM BEATTY, HUGH M'KEE, of Butler county, and GEORGE M'CLELLAND and JOHN GALBRAITH, of Venango county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 2 Apr 1822. 153. An act for the relief of JOHN LAUER and ANDREW SMITH. Whereas, a warrant was granted to LUDWIG WISANG, on 19 Aug 1766, for 150 acres of land in Manchester twp., York county, and an entry made in the Land Office, it is stated that the land was situate in the Manor of Springetsbury, and charged at the rate of 60 pounds per 100 acres,but it has since been found that the land was not within the Manor, that lands not included therein were at that time charged at 15 pound, 10 shillings per hundred acres, and the officers of the Land Office have no authority to grant relief in this case, therefore, the Secretary of the Land Office, is hereby authorized to make settlement on the amount due on the quantity of land returned on the warrant, charging the same at the correct rate, upon payment of which with interest thereon as is usual in other cases, by John Lauer and Andrew Smith, on their producing a legal title, to issue a patent in the usual manner. 2 Apr 1822. 157. An act for the relief of CORNPLANTER, a chief of the Seneca nation of Indians. That the state treasurer is hereby required to pay to the treasurer of Warren county, any note, bond or other securities which Cornplanter (an Indian) may have given to secure the payment of any taxes, which have been assessed on the property of said Indian. That any lands granted by the commonwealth to Cornplanter and his heirs, shall hereafter be exempted from the payment of any kind of taxes, so long as he or they continue to hold the same in their own right, and for the use of his tribe of Indians. That JESSE MOORE ESQ., president fo the sixth judicial district, and JOSEPH HACKNEY ESQ., one of the associate judges of the county of Warren, be requested to have an interview with Cornplanter, to explain to him the nature and objects of this act, and the governor shall transmit to Corplanter, a certified copy, and one copy to each of the commissioners named. 2 Apr 1822. 161. An act to settle and adjust the accounts of ANDREW MITCHEL, late sheriff of Cumberland county. That the commissioners of the county of Cumberland, are hereby authorized to settle the accounts of Andrew Mitchel, late sheriff of Cumberland county, and pay the money due him on account of the support and expenses incurred for the maintenance of poor insolvent debtors. 2 Apr 1822. 164. An act for the relief of CHRISTIAN GLEIM. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Christian Gleim, the sum of $154.73, as a compensation due to him for stitching, covering and delivering the pamphlet laws of last session. 2 Apr 1822. 168. An act authorizing a review of parts of a state raod in Greene county. That JOHN SHREVE and JAMES TODD of Fayette county, and JOSEPH RITNER of Washington county, are hereby appointed commissioners who shall relocate that part of the state road which passes through Waynesburg and the state line, to the flats of Grave creek, between Waynesburg and DAVID BRADBERRY's. 2 Apr 1822. 171. An act to annul marriages. That the marriage contract entered into between ELEM SICKMAN, late of the county of Beaver, but now a convict in the penitentiary at Philadelphia, and MARY SICKMAN, his wife, is hereby annulled and the parties released from all duties as fully as if they had never been joined in marriage, provided nothing herein shall render illegitimate any children born of the body of Mary during her coverture. That the marriage contract entered into between CHRISTIAN JOSENHANS, and EVE DOROTHY JOSENHANS, his wife, of Butler county, is hereby declared null and void, and the parties set free as fully as if they had never been joined in marriage. 2 Apr 1822. 174. An act to provide for elections. The judges of the elections of the sixth district shall meet at the house now occupied by JOHN WOLFERSBERGER, Campbellstown, Lebanon county, the judges of the seventh district shall meet at the house now occupied by GEORGE FIESTER, Kutztown, Berks county, the judges of the ninth district shall meet at the house now occupied by JOHN P. SCHUYLER, in Pennsborough, Lycoming county, the judges of the eleventh district, shall meet at the house now occupied by PATRICK COCHRAN, in the town of Shippensburg, (Cumberland & Franklin), the judges of the twelfth district, shall meet at the house now occupied by ALEXANDER ENNIS, Ennisville, Huntingdon county, the judges of the thirteenth district, shall meet at the house now occupied by JOHN STOTLER, on the Allegheny Mountain, in Somerset county, the judges of the fourteenth district, shall meet at the house now occupied by JEREMIAH DAVISON, Luzerne twp., Fayette county, the judges of the seventeenth district, shall meet at the house now occupied by ROBERT ELDER, in Blacklick twp., Indiana county. 2 Apr 1822. RESOLUTIONS 8. Resolved that the Auditor General is hereby authorized to collect from the estate of JOSEPH A. M'JIMSEY, dec., late clerk of the senate, the sum of $844.12 1/2, being the balance which is found due the commonwealth on an advance of $1000.00, made to him by virtue of a resolution of 3 Apr 1821. 2 Apr 1822. 12. Resolved that THOMAS FORSTER, GILES SANFORD and GEORGE MOORE, are hereby appointed commissioners to make a complete survey of the harbour of Presque Isle, in Erie county, and peninsula, for which they will each receive $1.50 and $.75 per day for the necessary hands to assist in the service. 2 Apr 1822.
