Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In General Assembly met and is hereby enacted by the Authority of the Same. 1. An act allowing CHARLES TREZIYULNEY, to copy drafts. That the Surveyor General is hereby directed to permit Charles Treziyulney, of Centre county, to make copies of drafts, for the purpose of aiding him in the construction of his map of Centre county, 24 Dec 1823. 2. An act to authorize the executor of ELIZABETH KING, dec., to sell a house and lot. That THOMAS M'DOWELL, executor of the last will and testament of Elizabeth King, late of Franklin county, dec., is hereby authorized to sell a certain house and lot, situated in the town of Mercersburg, and convey all rights and title to the purchaser. 24 Dec 1823. 4. An act to vest in MARGARET DAVIESON the estate of her son DAVID M'CORKHILL, late of the county of Chester, dec. That all right and title of this commonwealth to the estate, real and personal, of David M'Corkhill, dec., who died without heirs or kindred, is hereby vested in his mother, Margaret Davieson. 24 Dec 1823. 5. An act authorizing THOMAS CADWALLADER, committee of the person and estate of WILLIAMINA WEEMS TRAVIS, a lunatic, to sell her real estate. That Thomas Cadwallader, committee of the person and estate, of Williamina Weems Travis, of the city of Philadelphia, single woman, is hereby authorized to sell the whole or part of the share, of Williamina in any lands, tenements or hereditaments within this commonwealth, which descended or came to her on the part of her father, JOHN TRAVIS, or on the part of her mother, ELIZABETH TRAVIS, both of the city and deceased, which is held in common with ANN B. TRAVIS, FRANCES B. TRAVIS, and ELIZABETH L. TRAVIS, sisters of Williamina, and to make and execute a deed to the purchaser. 26 Dec 1823. 6. An act for the relief of ELIZABETH MANSON, widow of JOHN MANSON, a revolutionary soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Elizabeth Manson, of Washington county, widow of John Manson, a revolutionary soldier, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 26 Dec 1823. 11. An act to incorporate the Mount Pleasant turnpike company, of Wayne county. That BENJAMIN KING, JAMES MANNING, GERSHAM WILLIAMS, LUTHER STARK and THOMAS LILIBRIDGE, of Wayne county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to complete the road commencing at the Bethany and Dingman's Choice Turnpike Road, near BENJAMIN KING's, in Mount Pleasant twp., thence north to the state line, in a direction to Deposit, on the Delaware river. 24 Jan 1824. 12. An act vesting title to a tract of land in trustees. That the Land office is hereby authorized to issue a warrant, for 29 acres and 145 perches of land, situate in Shade twp., Somerset county, adjoining lands of JOHN STATLER, JOHN STUMP and others, to John Statler, JACOB MOSES and SAMUEL STATLER, in trust, for the sole use of the congregations of Shade twp., composed of the Presbyterians and Lutherans. 24 Jan 1824. 14. An act for the relief of MARY VANOSTRAND. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Mary Vanostrand, the sum of twenty dollars, to which her illegitimate son, WILLIAM STONE, dec., was entitled, by an act passed 29 Mar 1813. That all right, interest and claim in the estate, real and personal, of William Stone, who died without heirs or kindred, is hereby vested in his mother, Mary Vanostrand. 3 Feb 1824. 15. An act for the relief of SIMON KREWSON, JOSEPH DEARMAN and JOHN BLAKE, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Simon Drewson, $100.00, to Joseph Dearman, $100.00, and to John Blake, $100.00, respectively, of Philadephia county, immediately, for their services and sufferings in the revolutionary war. 3 Feb 1824. 16. An act for the relief of JOHN WATERS, EDWARD PEART and THOMAS DOBSON, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to John Waters and Edward Peart, of Philadelphia county, each forty dollars, immediately, and an annunity of forty dollars payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to COLONEL JOHN HAAS, of Northumberland county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, for the use of Thomas Dobson, a revolutionary soldier, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 3 Feb 1824. 17. An act authorizing the laying out of a state road. That EVAN THOMAS, of Northampton county, JOHN PRICE, of Pike county, and JOHN CLEMMENS, of Wayne county, aere hereby appointed commissioners, to lay out a state road, from Armat's landing, on the river Delaware, at the Water Gap, in Northampton county, by way of Cherry creek bridge, ____ BELL and _____ THOMAS' mills, and to SAMUEL PRICE's in Pike county, and near ROBERT BORTREE's in Wayne County, to the Easton and Bellmont turnpike road, near HARRY HARMAN's. 3 Feb 1824. 19. An act for the relief of JOHN HUFF, MICHAEL YOUNG, HENRY BUSH, and ANDREW ALLSWORTH, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to John Huff, of Northampton county, to Michael Young, of Lancaster county, to Henry Bush, of Pike county, to Andrew Allsworth, of Butler county, each forty dollars, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 9 Feb 1824. 20. An act authorizing the state treasurer to pay JONATHAN PRAY, a sum of money. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Jonathan Pray, $375.00, in full for a tract of donation land, which he was entitled to and which appears not to have been drawn. 18 Feb 1824. 21. An act for the relief of JOHN KENNEDY, a revolutionary soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to John Kennedy, of Butler county, a revolutionary soldier, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 18 Feb 1824. 22. An act to increase the pension of AGNESS CRAWFORD, widow of MAJOR JAMES CRAWFORD, who served in the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Agness Crawford, of Lycoming county, twenty dollars, in addition to the pension she now draws, payable in the same manner as the forty dollars, herefore granted her, commencing on the 1 Jan 1824. 18 Feb 1824. 23. An act declaring part of Fishing creek, a public highway. That Fishing creek, from the mouth of Banks' run to the lands of JOSEPH ANTHONY, in Logan twp., Centre county, is hereby declared a public highway. 18 Feb 1824. 28. An act for the relief of ADAM FREDERICK ROESER, a soldier of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Adam Frederick Roeser, of Westmoreland county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, during life, payable half yearly, to commence on the 1 Jan 1824. 3 Mar 1824. 29. An act for the relief of RICHARD B. TAYLOR and CHARLES MEANS. That act for the relief of insolvent debtors, passed 6 Mar 1814, are hereby extended to the case of Richard B. Taylor, now in the prison of Centre county, under sentence of the court for fornication and bastardy, and to the case of Charles Means, now in prison in the jail of Bedford county, under a sentence of the court for a similar offence. 3 Mar 1824. 33. An act to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge. That OWEN RICE, of Bethlehem, JACOB BLUMER, of the borough of Northampton, GEORGE YUNDT ESQ., of South Whitehall, PETER RUCH, of North Whitehall, FREDERICK BIERY and JOHN STERNER, of Hanover, are hereby appointed commissioners, for erecting a bridge over the river Lehigh, near ____ BIERY's mill, Leghigh county. 5 Mar 1824. 34. An act making further appropriations to the erection of a Penitentiary in Philadelphia county, and in the county of Allegheny. That the following persons shall be commissioners for carrying on the work of the penitentiary erecting near Pittsburg, WILLIAM WILKINS, JAMES ROSS, ALEXANDER JOHNSTON JR., JAMES RIDDLE, HUGH DAVIS, JOHN SCULL, ABNER BARKER, WILLIAM M'CANDLESS, CHARLES KENNEY and JAMES YOUNG. 15 Mar 1824. 36. An act vacating certain parts of state roads therein mentioned. That BENJAMIN DORRANCE, ELIAS HOYT and NAPTHALI HURLBUT, are hereby appointed commissioners, to review and vacate so much of the state road, from the west end of the bridge over the river Susquehanna, at Wilkesbarre, Luzerne county, through Huntingdon twp., to Washington, in Columbia county, vacated from the town of Washington to where the state road crosses Big Fishing creek. The vacated road to be reviewed is from the house of JAMES BARNES, in Kingston twp., Luzerne county, to the southerly line of lands belonging to AARON ROBERTS, in Plymouth twp., expenses to be paid by Aaron Roberts. That JOHN GEBBART JR., PETER WILL and HENRY CHORPENING, all of Somerset county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to review and vacate that part of the state road leading from the White House tavern, through Somerset county, etc., and the expense shall be paid by DAVID TEDROW, proprietor of the town of New-Lexington. 15 Mar 1824. 37. An act for the relief of PETER CORT, a revolutionary soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Peter Cort, of Columbia county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 15 Mar 1824. 38. An act for the relief of NATHAN HILANDS and BENJAMIN PAUL, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Nathan Hilands, of Indiana county, and to Benjamin Paul, of Chester county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 15 Mar 1824. 42. An act for the relief of JAMES SMITH and PETER KORR, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to James Smith, of Perry county, and to Peter Korr, of Northumberland county, each, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 19 Mar 1824. 43. An act for the relief of MARY EAGAN and NANCY DEMPSEY, widows of soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Mary Eagan and Nancy Dempsey, of Cumberland county, each forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, payable half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 19 Mar 1824 44. An act for the relief of the Representatives of JOHN MELISH, dec. That the Secretary of the Commonwealth, Surveyor General, Auditor General, and state treasurer are hereby authorized to adjust and settle the accounts of the late John Melish, dec., on account of the state map, in the construction and publication of the same. The sum not to exceed $3500.00. 19 Mar 1824. 45. An act for the relief of WILLIAM GUNN SEN., a revolutionary soldier, and the lineal heirs of ROBERT M'BRIDE. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to William Gunn Sen., of Washington county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to the order of JOHN M'MEENS, of Lycoming county, in trust for the use of the lineal heirs of Robert M'Bride, a soldier of the revolutionary war, $300.00, in full for a tract of donation land. 22 Mar 1824. 49. An act for the relief of ELIZABETH M'NEAL, and others, widows of revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Elizabeth M'Neal, of Montgomery county, to CATHARINE MARKLEY, of Adams county, and to ELIZABETH SHUBERT, of Philadelphia county, forty dollars each, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JOHN BOYD ESQ., of Northumberland county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, for the use of ELIZABETH LYON, of Northumberland county, during her life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 25 Mar 1824. 51. A supplement to an act to incorporate a company for making a road. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to PATRICK LOGAN, of Montgomery county, the sum of $1593.00, authorized by the act passed 8 Feb 1816, and as soon as the company has completed the road from the Spring House tavern, Montgomery county to _____ TREWIG's tavern, the additional sum of $7157.00, being the residue authorized. 27 Mar 1824. 52. An act authorizing the Land officers to issue a patent. That the Land Officers are hereby authorized to issue a patent, free of expense, for lot #1860, in the second donation district, to GEORGE CROW, of Bucks county, a soldier of the revolutionary war. 27 Mar 1824. 54. An act for the relief of WILLIAM HINTON, MARY M'LAIN, and MARY SHADE. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to William Hinton and to Mary M'Lain, of Centre county, and to Mary Shade of Cumberland county, each forty dollars, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, during life, payable to them, commencing on 1 Jan 1824. 27 Mar 1824. 56. An act for the relief of MARY LORENTZ, a widow of an old soldier. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Mary Lorentz, of Northumberland county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, during life, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 27 Mar 1824. 57. An act for the further relief of the indigent Deaf and Dumb, within this commonwealth. That the governor is hereby authorized to draw his warrant on the state treasurer, in favor of ROBERT PATTERSON, HENRY SIMPSON, and WILLIAM ALLEN, for $1000.00, for indemnifying the Philadelphia asylum of the deaf and dumb, for the tuition of poor children already taught in that institution. 27 Mar 1824. 58. An act authorizing the laying out of a road, from Waynesburg, in Greene county, to intersect the national road, in Fayette county. That JOHN FORDYCE, of Greene county, THOMAS BOYD and JOHN SHREEVE, of Fayette county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 27 Mar 1824. 60. An act authorizing reviews of parts of state roads. That ROBERT M'CLAY, WILLIAM GAMBLE, of Fannet twp., and THOMAS M'CLELLAND ESQ., of Lurgan twp., Franklin county, are hereby authorized to review the part of the state road lying between the foot of the mountain, about 100 rods east of MARY TEMMON's house, in Fannet twp., Franklin county, and the foot of Tuscarora mountain, Metal twp. That the court of Dauphin county, shall have authority to grant a review of the state road from Lancaster, through Jonestown to the borough of Sunbury, Northumberland county, as is laid out between Pine Corner, near the house of JACOB HOFFMAN JR., and the saw mill of MATHIAS DEIBLER, in Lykens twp., Dauphin county. That JOHN M'CULLOUGH, ANDREW S. WHITE and CADWALLADER BAKER, are hereby appointed viewers, to review that part of the state road between the borough of Butler and Newcastle, which lies between the eastern line of Muddy creek twp., and ______ BITTNER's farm, Butler county. 27 Mar 1824. 61. An act appointing commissioners to view and lay out state roads. That JOAB BAILEY ESQ., and DAVID GRAY ESQ., of Greene county, and DAVID FRAZER, of Washington county, are hereby appointed viewers to lay out a state road from Greensburg, Greene county, through the borough of Waynesburg, to West Alexandria, Washington county. That WALLACE M'WILLIAMS and ROBERT PATTERSON, of Washington county, and JOHN ROBERTS of Beaver county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to lay out a state road from Washington, Washington county, through Mount Pleasant, Burgetstown, Cross roads and Frankfort, to Georgetown, on the Ohio river, in Beaver county. That THOMAS MASTERSON ESQ., and JOHN THOME ESQ., of Lancaster county, and HENRY SULTZBACH, of York county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a state road form Colebrook Furnace, Lebanon county, to the borough of Marietta, Lancaster county, thence across the Susquehanna river to intersect the turnpike road leading from Columbia to York, at Henry Sultzbach's tan yard, York county. 27 Mar 1824. 66. An act authorizing the orphans' court of Bucks county, to appoint trustees authorizing the sale of real estate of SAMUEL PARKER, a lunatic. That in case the trustees, appointed by the last will and testament of JOHN CORSON, dec., die, resign, refuse to act or remove from this state, it shall be lawful for the orphans' court of Bucks, to nominate trustees. That JOSIAH B. RICHARDSON, and MARSHALL PRESTON, of Belerica, Middlesex twp., state of Massachusetts, guardians of Samuel Parker, of the same place, a non compos mentis person, are hereby authorized to sell all the rights, title, and claim of Samuel Parker, in five contiguous tracts of land, situate in Somerhill twp., Cambria county, PA, surveyed on five warrants, in the names of WILLIAM CLARK, JOHN CLARK, JACOB NAGLE, HENRY WELSH and WILLIAM SANSOM, dated 13 Nov 1793, containing 2145 acres and 80 perches, and execute a deed to the purchasers. 27 Mar 1824. 68. An act to incorporate the erecting a bridge, over the river Lehigh, near Seigfried's Ferry. That JACOB DILLINGER, PETER KOBLER and JOHN DEICHMAN, of Lehigh county, and GEORGE WEBER, CHRISTIAN HAGENBAUGH, JACOB VOGLE, MICHAEL WEAVER and JAMES KENNEDY, of Northampton county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 27 Mar 1824. 69. An act authorizing the laying out a state road, commencing at the town of Warren, Warren county, and ending on the Susquehanna and Waterford turnpike, in Jefferson county. That JOHN ANDREWS, of Warren county, JOHN CORBET, of Armstrong county, and JOHN BARNET, of Jefferson county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 27 Mar 1824. 70. An act for the relief of MARTIN ZIGLER, JOHN KIGHLER and JAMES STEWART, revolutionary solders. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Martin Zigler, of Franklin county, and to John Kighler, of Philadelphia county, revolutionary soldiers, forty dollars each, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JAMES M'NIGHT, for the use of James Stewart, a revolutionary soldier, of Adams county, forty dollars immediately, and forty dollars annually, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 27 Mar 1824. 71. An act for relief of PAUL MAURER, ANDREW REED and THOMAS M'HENRY, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Paul Maurer, of Schuylkill, to Andrew Reed, of Chester county, and to Thomas M'Henry, of Columbia county, forty dollars each immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 27 Mar 1824. 73. An act to erect the town of Montrose, Susquehanna county, into a borough. That WILLIAM JESSUP and ALMOND H. READ, of Montrose, shall publish and superintend the election. 29 Mar 1824. 74. An act for the relief of JACOB WOLF and sundry other soldiers of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Jacob Wolf, of Armstrong, of Armstrong county, to SAMUEL UTTER, of Perry county, to GEORGE P. RANSOM, of Luzerne county, and JOSEPH TWEED, of Lancaster county, each forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to RUTH THOMPSON, of Chester county, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, during life, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 29 Mar 1824. 78. An act concerning the sale of real estate. That JAMES M. PORTER, of Northampton county, administrator of all goods, chattels, rights and credits, which were of JOHN E. PARKER, late of Plymouth, North Carolina, dec. is hereby authorized to sell and convey, the estate of John E. Parker, within this commonwealth. That JAMES GIBSON, administrator of PETER M'CALL, dec., during the minority of JOHN GIBSON M'CALL and PETER M'CALL, children of Peter M'Call, is hereby authorized to sell and convey, all the real estate of Peter M'Call dec. was entitled, by the death of his father, ARCHIBALD M'CALL, situated in the counties of Clearfield, Centre, Union and Pike, and contracts conveyances, etc., by James Gibson, shall be valid, against all claims under Peter M'Call, and James Gibson shall pay to John Gibson M'Call, and Peter M'Call, or their heirs the full amounts of the sums by sales upon reaching the age of 21. 29 Mar 1824. 79. An act for the relief of CAPTAIN HENRY REGES. That the Auditor General is hereby authorized to settle and adjust the accounts of Captain Henry Reges, for subsistance furnished his volunteer rifle company, while on their march, in 1812, from Chambersburg, Franklin county, to their place of rendezvous at Meadville, in Crawford county. 29 Mar 1824. 80. An act for the relief of the widow and children of TITON GRELAND, and others. Whereas, Titon Greland, late an auctioneer of the city of Philadelphia, paid into the state treasury, $1000.00 for a commission of auctioneer, for one year, commencing on 1 Jun 1823, and he died on 10 Feb 1824, three months and nineteen days previous to the expiration of the year, and whereas he left a widow and orphan children, therefore, the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to the administratrix of Titon Greland, dec., $296.23, which is the sum of the unexpired portion of the year paid. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay JOHN FILSON, brigade inspector of the second brigade, third division, Pa. militia, $51.97, being the costs and expenses incurred by him on two suits brought before JUSTICE WOLLASTON, of Chester county, against him and RICHARD B. WOODWARD, for an attempt to enforce the collection of milita fines. 29 Mar 1824. 81. A supplement to an act establishing an academy in the borough of Huntingdon, Huntingdon county. The trustees of the Huntingdon Academy shall consist of the following persons: WILLIAM STEEL, PATRICK GWIN, WILLIAM R. STEVENS. 29 Mar 1824. 82. An act for the relief of SAMUEL CAREY, THOMAS ALLISON and EDWARD M'MASTERS, revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Samuel Carey, of Luzerne county, to Thomas Allison, of Indiana county, and to Edward M'Masters, of Lycoming county, forty dollars each, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars to each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 29 Mar 1824. 84. An act authorizing the laying out a state road, commencing at Bell's Cross Roads, about two miles west of Jefferson, in Greene county, by JOHN LINDLY's mills, to West Alexander, in Washington county. That JONATHAN KNIGHT, JAMES M'QUAWN, of Washington county, and THOMAS COLVER, of Greene county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 29 Mar 1824. 85. An act for the relief of HENRY MILLER, an officer of the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Henry Miller, of Perry county, $240.00 immediately, and an annuity of $240.00, payable quarterly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 29 Mar 1824. 86. An act for the relief of sundry widows of revolutionary soldiers. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to CATHARINE KEASY, of Butler county, JANE ROGERS and JANE BOWER, of Lancaster county, JANE M'GUIRE, of Westmoreland county, and to ELIZABETH STATZER, of Berks county, forty dollars each, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1824. 29 Mar 1824. 89. An act to incorporate the First Presbyterian church, at Norristown, and for other purposes. That the trustees of the Presbyterian church at Norristown, Montgomery county, are hereby erected into one body politic and corporate. The trustees are: JOHN HENDERSON, JOHN CHAIN, DAVID WOLMER, ROBERT HAMILL, SAMUEL CRAWFORD, WILLIAM M'GATHERY, ULRICH SCHLATER, WILLIAM POWEL, and ANDREW CRAWFORD. That the trustees of the German Mennonist Congregation of Doylestown twp., Bucks county, are hereby erected into one body politic and corporate. They are able to sue and recoverall sums of money as were devised to the congregation by JOHN WIERMAN, late of Doylestown twp., dec., and that ABRAHAM GEIL, WILLIAM GODSHAWK, and SAMUEL GODSHAW, are trustees. That JAMES ALLISON, THOMAS HENRY, DAVID MARQUIES, DAVID EAKIN and EDWARD WAGGONER, trustees of the Presbyterian congregation at Beavertown, Beaver county, are hereby authorized to erect a church on the southeast public square, and to enclose a yard, not exceeding 1/4 acre. 29 Mar 1824. 90. An act authorizing the laying of state roads. That FRANCIS M'EWEN, of Centre county, ANDREW M'CLENAHAN, of Union county, and JACOB ANTES, of Lycoming county, are hereby appointed commissiones, to lay out a road from Bellefonte, Centre county, through Sugar Valley, to the west branch of the Susquehanna river, near the mouth of White Deer creek, Union county. That so much of the road laid out under the act passed 23 Mar 1819, from the borough of Marietta, Lancaster county, to intersect the Middletown and Harrisburg turnpike, near the house of JOHN NIESLY, in Dauphin county, as lies on the west side of the Swatara creek, is hereby vacated. 29 Mar 1824. 92. An act to authorize the review of certain roads. That SOLOMON G. KREPS, SAMUEL PATTERSON, and SAMUEL DUNN, of Fayette county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to review that part of the state road which passes through the lands of the heirs and devisees of the REV. JACOB JENNINGS, late of Fayette county, dec. That JAMES RALSTON, of Northampton county, PETER COOPER, and GEORGE KEEK, of Lehigh county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to re-locate that part of the state road, which was laid out by an act of 31 Mar 1823, from Wilkesbarre to the borough of Northampton, which is between a point not exceeding two miles above Lehighton, Northampton county, to the borough of Northampton, Lehigh county. That JOSEPH SMITH ESQ., JAMES NELSON and JAMES MONTGOMERY, are hereby authorized to meet at the borough of Mercer, to review that part of the state road laid out near the county line, between Armstrong and Jefferson, where the state road from Milesburg to Erie crosses the same, through the borough of Mercer to the Ohio line, but not go further then JOHN BARNES' improvement, about six miles from Mercer. 29 Mar 1824. 93. An act granting compensation to legal heirs and for other purposes. Stat the state treasurers is hereby authorized to pay to the heirs and legal representatives of EZEKIEL SHELCUT, $300.00, in full for a tract of donation land, to which he was entitled for his services in the revolutionary war. That the state treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to JAMES S. STEVENSON, of the city of Pittsburg, in trust for the use of ELIZABETH REED, of the city of Pittsburg, $600.00, in full compensation for 400 acres of donation land, to which her late husband, ARCHIBALD REED, was entitled, in consequence of his services as a lieutenant in the revolutionary war. 29 Mar 1824. 96. An act making appropriations to defray certain expenses of government. The following sums are hereby appropriated: The sum of $150.00 for extra clerk hire for the last year, for JOHN HOUSER. That ROBERT DICKEY, doorkeeper of the Senate, and THOMAS WALLACE, door-keeper of the House of Representatives, be appointed to take charge of the Capitol during the recess of the Legislature, for which service, they shall receive $30.00 each. 29 Mar 1824. 97. An act to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge. LLOYD, of Northumberland county, WILLIAM COX ELLIS ESQ., SAMUEL SHOEMAKER, of Lycoming county, are hereby appointed commissioners named in the act passed 15 Mar 1816, for erecting a bridge over the north-east branch of the river Susquehanna, between the town of Cattawissa and mouth of Fishing creek. 29 Mar 1824. 98. An act granting relief to ADAM MENSH, late supervisor of Catawissa twp., Columbia county. That in case Adam Mensh, late supervisor of Catawissa Twp., Columbia county, has been aggrieved in the settlement of his accounts in Mar or Apr. 1823, it shall be lawful to investigate the settlement made by the township settlers, and to allow any additional settlements, three person shall conduct a meeting in the town of Catawissa. 29 Mar 1824. 105. An act to confer on GEORGE BRINTON and others, the rights and privileges of persons born in lawful wedlock. That George Brinton, of Birmingham twp., Chester county, is hereby vested with the surname of his reputed father, CALEB BRINTON, of the borough of West Chester, and shall have all the rights and privileges of a person born in lawful wedlock. That Magaret, the illegitimate daughter of WILLIAM GRIFFITH, is hereby invested with the surname of her reputed father, William Griffith, of the county of Philadelphia, and under the name of MARGARET GRIFFITH, shall have all the rights and privileges of a child born in lawful wedlock. That George, the illegitimate son of MARY MERKLE, late of Berks county, dec. is hereby invested with the surname of he reputed father, JACOB RAHN, of Berks county, and under this name shall have all the rights and privileges of a child born in lawful wedlock, as if he had been the legitimate child of Mary Merkle, and all the right, title and claim of the commonwealth, to the estate of Mary Merkle, who died without heirs, is hereby vested in GEORGE RAHN. Whereas, MARY BROWER is the illegitimate daughter of ANNE YODER, of Douglas twp., Berks county, which Anne has been a person of insane mind, from her infancy, and therefore, incapable of distinguishing between right and wrong, and the husband of Mary Brower has prayed the Legislature to confer on his wife the right to inherit and transmit property belonging to her mother, therefore, Mary Brower, the wife of ABRAHAM BROWER, of Union twp., Berks county, shall be capable to inherit and transmit any estate, real, personal or mixed, belonging to her mother, Anne Yoder, of Douglas twp., as fully as if she had been born in lawful wedlock. 29 Mar 1824. 107. An act to annul the marriage of JAMES M'KIBBON JR., and POLLY M'KIBBON, his wife. A supplement, to an act making appropriation for certain internal improvements. That the moneys remaining in the hands of several overseers of the poor in Salt Lick twp., Fayette county, is hereby appropriated towards the erection of a bridge over Indian creek, near St. John's Furance, and that JAMES M'KOUN, ANDREW TRAPP, and SAMUEL WALKER, are hereby authorized to act as commissioners. That Upper Hanover twp., Montgomery county, is hereby erected into a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections, at the public house now occupied by SAMUEL M'NULTY. That the electors of Damascus twp., Wayne county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by CHARLES DRAKE. That Douglas twp., Berks county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house of JOHN WISE, now in the occupancy of DANIEL PILE. That the electors of Rostrover twp., Westmoreland county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by HUGH WRIGHT ESQ. That the electors in that part of Derry twp., Westomreland county, which lies north of the old Hannah's town road, shall hold their elections at the tavern house of NATHANIEL DOTY, now in the occupancy of ROBERT NICHOLSON. That Clarion twp., Armstrong county, is erected into a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by HENRY RILEY. That the electors of Redbank twp., Armstrong county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by HENRY DOVERSPIKES. That the electors of Manheim, York county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by ADAM SNYDER. That part of Hellam twp., York county, beginning at _____ VINEGAR's ferry on the river Susquehanna, thence to JOHN DRUCK's land, thence to the house of HENRY LEHMAN, thence to the house of JOHN NEWCOMER, thence to the turnpike road, leading to the borough of York, thence to the house of GEORGE DICTS SEN., dec., thence to the house of JOSEPH DILLINGER at the Windsor twp. line, to the beginning shall be erected into a separate election district, and elections shall be held at the house now occupied by PETER ZIGLER, in the village of Wrightsville. An act for the relief of GARBUT FISHER, and others. That Garbut Fisher, formerly of Leeds, in England, now residing in this commonwealth, is hereby rendered able in law, notwithstanding his alienage, to take and enjoy all lands in the counties of Northampton, Pike and Wayne, in which his father, WILLIAM FISHER, had legal title, and is now vested in the heirs of the late MIERS FISHER ESQ., as fully as if he were a citizen of the United States. That the surviving executor of the estate of THOMAS MAYNE WILLING, late of the city of Philadelphia, dec., is hereby authorized to execute a deed of conveyance, for a certain messuage or tenement and lot, situate at the corner of Walnut Street and Raspberry alley, Philadelphia, bounded by ground now or late of JOHN SAVAGE. 30 Mar 1824. 131. An act authorizing the laying out a state road, from Perrysville, Allegheny county, to the Butler turnpike, Butler county. That ROBERT HILANDS and WILLIAM ROGERS, of Allegheny county, and JOHN DODDS, of Butler county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 30 Mar 1824. RESOLUTIONS 1. Resolution relative to the purchase of the map of the country through which the proposed Cheasapeake and Ohio canal is to pass. That the Secretary of the commonwealth is hereby required, to subscribe for nine copies of a map of the section of country through which a canal to connect the waters of the Chesapeake and Ohio is proposed to pass, and of the National Road between Cumberland and Wheeling, with the adjacent country, by JAMES SHRIVER, agreeably to the proposals by FIELDING LUCAS JR., of Baltimore. 8 Jan 1824. 4.
