The State Treasurer is authorized to pay to Simon Krewson of Philadelphia county, a soldier of the revolutionary war, forty dollars immediately, and annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly during life, to commence on the 1 Jan 1831 11 Jan 1831. 8. An act for the relief of ANDREW SHUSTER, a soldier, and SUSANNA NOLF, the widow of a soldier of the revolutionary war. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Andrew Shuster of the city of Philadelphia, forty dollars immediately, as a gratuity for his revolutionary services. The annuity heretofore allowed to GEORGE NOLF of Northampton county, dec. a soldier of the revolutionary war is hereby continued to Susanna Nolf, widow of the said deceased, during her natural life. 11 Jan 1831. 9. An act for the relief of JACOB SCHNEIDER, a soldier of the revolutionary war. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Jacob Schneider, of Schuylkill county, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars payable half yearly during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1831. 11 Jan 1831. 13. An act to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road from the Lackawaxen turnpike, near the farm of DANIEL BUNTINGS, by the Glass Factory to the new road from Bethany to Homesdale, near the farm of WIDOW THOMAS, in Wayne county. That ISAAC DIMMICK, JOHN CARR, CHRISTIAN FAATZ, JACOB FAATZ, WILLIAM GREELE, DAVID ARNOLD and NATHANIEL A. WOODWARD, are hereby appointed commissioners for making the road. 17 Jan 1831. 14. An act authorizing the construction of a bridge across the West Branch of the Susquehanna river, at the town of Clearfield. That ROBERT ROSS SEN., J.F.W. SCHNARS, JOHN KYLER, JAMES READ and SAMUEL FULTON of Clearfield county, are hereby appointed commissioners for the erection of the bridge and JOSEPH BDOONE SEN., JOSIAH W. SMITH, JOSEPH M. MARTIN, LIBEON LUTHER and JOB ENGLAND, of Clearfield county are appointed commissioners to open books before the first day of June next. 17 Jan 1831. 15. An act authorizing JACOB NITTZ SR. of Westmoreland County to sell and convey certain real estate. That Jacob Nittz Sr. of Westmoreland County is authorized to sell and dispose of all the right, title and interest and claim of his children, CHRISTINA NITTZ and JACOB NITTZ of the undivided 2/3 part of the 1/8 of a tract of land, (of which their grandfather HENRY TOSH, died seized) situated in Ligonier Twp., Westmoreland County, adjoining JAMES M'CURDY, JACOB TOSH, JOSEPH CLIFFORD, ROBERT M'DOWELL and ROBERT REED, containing 300 acres, and to execute a title to the purchaser as if said children were of full age. 17 Jan 1831. 16. An act declaring a certain part of the West Branch of the river Susquehanna, a public highway. The West Branch of the Susquehanna from the Cherry tree or Canoe Place, up to JOHN DOUGLASS' saw mill, is hereby declared a public highway. 17 Jan 1831. 18. An act for the relief of sundry soldiers and SUSANNA MORGAN, the widow of a soldier of the revolutionary war. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay JOHN CARMONDY, of Columbiana County, in the state of Ohio, a revolutionary soldier, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on 1 Jan 1831. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay HENRY FELL, of Northampton County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately as a gratuity and compensation in full for his revolutionary service. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay FREDERICK BODINE of Niagara county, state of New York, forty dollars immediately, as a gratuity and full compensation for his revolutionary services. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay JACOB JOHNSON of Montgomery county, forty dollars immediately as a gratuity and full compensation for his revolutionary services. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Susanna Morgan of Northampton county, widow of a revolutionary soldier, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of 40 dollars during life, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1831. 17 Jan 1831. 19. An act authorizing JOHN BAUGHMAN and JACOB FISHER, as trustees to carry into effect the last will and testament of PETER BAUGHMAN of North Huntingdon Twp. in the county of Westmoreland, so far as relates to building a school house and receiving certain bequests in said will for that purpose. 21. An act to confer on ELIZABETH STRAUCH, the rights and benefits of a child born in lawful wedlock. That Elizabeth Strauch, a daughter of DANIEL STRAUCH and SUSANNA STRAUCH, (late SUSANNA REED) of Schuylkill County born some time before the marriage of the said Daniel and Susanna Strauch, shall have and enjoy all rights, benefits and advantages of a child born in lawful wedlock. 21 Jan 1831. 23. An act supplementary to an act passed the 11 Apr 1825 and a supplement to said act, passed 29 Mar 1827 authorizing the executor of the last will and testament of JAMES ANDERSON, dec. to sell real estate. That MARY ANDERSON, executrix of the last will and testament of James Anderson, late of the borough and county of York, be authorized to complete any sales of the real property left by said testator which was commenced by WILLIAM BARBER (now deceased.) and said Mary Anderson can sell the real estate which was left by the testator for the payment of debts. 21 Jan 1831. 24. An act to incorporate a company to make a turnpike road from the Abington and Waterford turnpike, near the bridge of Tunkhannock creek, to Carbondale. That GEORGE W. HEALEY, NATHAN BACON and ELEZER TOWNSON are hereby appointed commissioners to make the road. 25 Jan 1831. 26. An act reviving an act incorporating the borough of Waynesburg, and changing the to Waynesboro. That the act to repeal incorporating the borough of Waynesburg, Franklin county, passed 30 Mar 1824, is hereby repealed and the act to incorporate the town passed 21 Dec 1818, is hereby revived and re-enacted with the following limits: Beginning at a stone on the lands of JOHN FLANAGAN, northwest to a stone on the lands of HENRY FUNK, JOHN HESS and others, southwest to a stone on a line between ANDREW BAKER and JOHN GILBERT, THOMAS WALKER and others, southeast to lands of JOHN CLAYTON, thence to the place of beginning. 25 Jan 1831. 29. A supplement to an act to incorporate the Susquehanna and Delaware canal and railroad company. That WILLIAM HENRY, ALEXANDER E. BROWN, STOGDELL STOKES and JACOB B. STOUD, of the county of Northampton, are appointed additional commissioners. 25 Jan 1831. 31. An act authorizing AARON GREGG, under the direction of the court of common pleas of the county of Greene, to execute a deed to THOMAS FLETCHER, for a lot of land in said county. RICHARD GREGG, late of the county of Greene, now deceased, in his lifetime sold a certain lot of land, of forty perches, in Carmichaeltown, in said county to STEPHEN BROCK, for a price which was paid and satisfied, but for which lot of land no deed of conveyance was executed by the said Richard Gregg; that all the right of the said Stephen Brock has been transferred, and is now held by Thomas Fletcher, of the same county; that the said Richard Gregg having made a will and appointed executors to the same, they did, after his decease, prove the same and took upon themselves the execution thereof; that since which time two of them are also deceased, and the only survivor, if he be living, has removed out of the state, so that there is no person to execute a deed. Therefore we authorize Aaron Gregg, as fully as if he were an executor of the will to deliver a deed of conveyance to the said Thomas Fletcher. 28 Jan 1831. 33. A supplement to an act to incorporate the Dundaff and Tunkhannock and other turnpike road companies. In the eleventh section, for commencing the making of the Snow Shoe and Packerville turnpike road, which shall pass through Kylerville, Clearfield county, is hereby extended for ten years, and JAMES ALLPORT and ALEXANDER B. REED, are hereby appointed commissioners. 28 Jan 1831. 35. An act to change the name of THOMAS WOOD ABBOTT to THOMAS ABBOTT WOOD. Whereas JOHN ABBOTT and ESTHER ABBOTT his wife, (formerly ESTHER WOOD) deem it expedient to change the name of their son Thomas Wood Abbott to Thomas Abbott Wood, (now aged thirteen years) therefore it is hereby authorized that Thomas Abbott Wood, formerly Thomas Wood Abbott shall be known by the above name with all legal rights. 36. An act for the relief of PHILIP WEITZEL and HENRY BLACK, soldiers of the revolution. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Philip Weitzel of Lancaster County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars during his life payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1831. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Henry Black of Adams County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, during life, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1831. 31 Jan 1831. 40. An act for the relief of JOHN DAILY, SAMUEL KLINE, DEWALT LYNN and JACOB WINGLER, revolutionary soldiers. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay John Daily, of Warren County, and state of New Jersey, and to Samuel Kline of Berks County, soldiers of the revolutionary war, forty dollars each, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars each, during life, payable half yearly, to commence 1 Jan 1831. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Jacob Wingler of Cumberland County and Dewalt Lynn of Northumberland county forty dollars each immediately, as a gratuity and full compensation for their revolutionary services. 27 Feb 1831. 42. An act concerning the heirs of RICHARD WISTAR, the elder, deceased. Richard Wistar, the elder, City of Philadelphia, by his last will and testament, recorded 1788, did direct his executors should cause a division to his lands in the counties of Northumberland and Bedford. Executors by mistake, on 12 Jan 1793 recorded in rolls office, letters of attorney book #7 pages 326/7/8/9. The said partition has been lost and not being recorded in the proper counties the persons who derive titles to lands aforesaid have been deprived of the benefit of said recorded instrument of partition. It is hereby enacted that the proper officer of the rolls office on payment of a reasonable compensation for his services furnish an authenticated copy of the said recorded instrument of partition or allotment to any person claiming title through the same, duly recorded in said county and regarded as the original instrument of partition or allotment. 7 Feb 1831 44. An act to incorporate the Philadelphia, Germantown and Norristown railroad company. That JOHN SAVAGE, PETER WAGER, BENJAMIN CHEW JR., SAMUEL KEITH, LEWIS RUSH, JOSEPH SOLMS, JOHN PATTERSON, GEORGE M. HICKLING and ALEXANDER M'CARAHER, of the city of Philadelphia, JAMES M'CORMACK, BENJAMIN E. CARPENTER and JACOB HEYBERGER of the Northern Liberities, REUBEN HAINES, THOMAS R. FISHER, JOHN LEIBERT, ISRAEL GILBERT, JOSEPH HERGESHEIMER, ELIJAH DALLET, JOHN WATERS, EDWARD H. BONSALL and THOMAS H. CRAIG of Philadelphia county, JOSEPH THOMAS, WILLIAM POWELL, PHILIP S. MARKLEY, GEORGE SHEAFF, SAMUEL MAULSBY, PETER DAGER and MATTHIAS HOLSTEIN, of the county of Montgomery, are hereby appointed commissioners to survey, lay down, and fix such route beginning at Stony creek, Norristown, passing through the townships of Plymouth and Whitemarsh, Montgomery county, also near the village of Germantown, thence to the city of Philadelphia. 17 Feb 1831. 46. An act to incorporate the president, managers and company of the Armstrong and Clearfield turnpike road company. That THOMAS BLAIR, JACOB PONTIOUS and JOSEPH MARSHALL, of Armstrong county, CHARLES C. GASKILL and JOHN W. JENKS of Jefferson county, JOHN EWING and HENRY KINTER of Indiana county, DAVID FERGUSON and JOHN IRVINE of Clearfield county, WILLIAM A. THOMAS and HARDMAN PHILIPS of Centre county, are hereby appointed commissioners, and the road shall commence at the borough of Kittanning, Armstrong county, thence to Punxatawney, Jefferson county, to intersect the Northern turnpike at the mouth of Anderson's creek, Clearfield county. 17 Feb 1831. 47. An act authorizing the sale of certain real estate. That MARY TOOLE, of the city of Philadelphia, is hereby authorized to sell the messuage and lot in Locust street, city of Philadelphia, and the messuage and lot in Washington street, being the property of which Mary Toole, the elder, died seized, and execute a deed to the purchasers, and proceeds shall be invested for the use and benefit of such persons entitled under the last will and testament of Mary Toole, the elder, dated 17 Nov 1818. 17 Feb 1831. 54. An act to incorporate the West Chester railroad company. That JOSEPH HEMPHILL and THOMAS P. COPE of the city of Philadelphia, THOMAS H. BRINTON, of Delaware county, JOSHUA EVANS, THOMAS ASHBRIDGE, EZRA COPE, JOHN W. TOWNSEND and THOMAS WILLIAMSON, of Chester county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 18 Feb 1831. 57. An act to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road from the borough of Muncy, through Hillsgrove and Eldredvill, in Lycoming county, to intersect the Berwick and Newtown turnpike, near Towanda creek, in Monroe Twp., Bradford county. That ELIPHALET MASON, FREDERICK FISHER and TIMOTHY H. LEWIS of Bradford county, JOHN P. SCHUYLER, THOMAS TAGGART, JOHN C. HILL and JOHN MONTGOMERY JR. of Lycoming county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 23 Feb 1831. 58. An act authorizing WILLIAM SILL and JOSEPH M. BISHOP, of Bradford County, to erect a dam in the river Susquehanna. A dam in the north branch of the Susquehanna, in the township of Monroe, where they have erected a sawmill. Dam to extend from the western shore to an island directly opposite, commonly called Ackley's Island. 23 Feb 1831. 59. An act to erect the town of Mercersburg, in the county of Franklin, into a borough. That the boundaries are: Beginning on land of ROBERT SMITH ESQ., southwest to lands of MICHAEL SELLERS, thence by lands of Sellers and _____ CREAMER, to lands of JOHN BRAWNSON ESQ., thence to lands of WILLIAM M'KINSTRY ESQ., to lands of ADAM HOAK, to lands of Robert Smith to beginning. 26 Feb 1831. 61. An act authorizing compensation to JACOB S. SPANG and DAVID SINK, for damages done by certain state roads. On the written application of Jacob S. Spang, of the township of Oley, Berks County, within 1 year, the judges of the court of quarter sessions of Berks Co. are required to appoint 6 disinterested men to view and adjudge the amount of damages sustained by Jacob S. Spang in consequence of a state road leading from Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County to _____ STETLER's Tavern, Montgomery County, passing through the couny of Berks having been laid out through his land situated in Pike Twp. Berks Co. If any four shall agree to the amount of damages they shall make a report at the next quarter sessions and said amount shall be paid to him. The same proceedings are authorized to be extended to David Sink of Robison Twp. Berks County for damages to have been sustained by a certain state road opened through his land, leading from Waynesburg, Chester County to Birdsborough, Berks County. 26 Feb 1831. 62. An act enabling ELIZA GARDINER to execute certain powers without the intervention of her present husband. That Eliza Gardiner, now the wife of JOHN GARDINER, late ELIZA HAMILTON, widow and executix of ANDREW HAMILTON, deceased, shall have the power and authority without the joiner or intervention of her husband to sell and convey such part or parts of the real estate of the said Andrew. All rents reserved on any sales shall be payable to her in trust for uses and purposes of last will of Andrew and 1/2 of same shall go to MARY ANN HAMILTON of Philadelphia County, daughter of said Andrew Hamilton at age 21. 26 Feb 1831. 63. An act authorizing the executors of PETER BEISEL, dec. to convey certain real estate. Peter Beisel, of Allen Twp. Northampton County deceased, by his will directed his executors to lease his real estate during the lifetime of his wife. Since the decease of Peter Beisel circumstances have occurred as to induce the widow and legatees to believe it is more advisable to make sale to secure income for said widow during her life. On 16 Oct 1830 they did sell land situated partly in Allen Twp. Northampton Co. and partly in Hanover Twp. Lehigh Co. containing 245 acres and 76 perches to GEORGE BREINIG for the sum of $50.12 1/2 per acre. and a certain tract of woodland situated in Moore twp. Northampton Co. containing 13 acres and 3 perches to ADAM LAWBACH for $13.85 per acre and it was discovered under the existing laws of this commonwealth the said executors have no authority to convey said real estate. Therefore. OWEN RICE and JACOB BEISEL, executors of the last will of Peter Beisel, Allen Twp. Northampton Co. are hereby authorized to grant and convey to George Breinig and Adam Lawbach the said tracts of land purchased at public sale 16 Oct 1830 and to convey title of said land in order to secure the payment to GERTRUDE BEISEL, widow of deceased an annual sum during her lifetime. 26 Feb 1831 68. An act to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road from the Milford and Owego turnpike, about two miles west of APPOLLOS DAVIS', upon Cherry Ridge, Wayne county, through Wageners's Gap, to the Carbondale and Blakely turnpike road, near ______ DECKER's mill, in Luzerne county. That JAMES SEYMOUR, JOHN H. BULEN and CONRAD SWINGLER, of Wayne county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 2 Mar 1831 71. An act concerning the real estate of JOHN SMILEY, dec. That the right and title acquired by John Smiley, late of Fallowfield Twp. Washington County to his lands shall be in all respects as good and perfect as if the said John Smiley had been a citizen of the United States and the disposition of said lands in his last will shall be as good and valid as if he had been a citizen at the time of making his last will and testament. 3 Mar 1831 73. An act to incorporate the president, managers and company of the Dundaff and Honedale turnpike road. That GOULD PHINNEY and BENJAMIN BAILEY, of Susquehanna county, THOMAS MEREDITH, of Luzerne county, NELSON FORD, JAMES M'MULLIN and FRANCIS GRISWOLD, of Wayne county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 14 Mar 1831. 74. An act to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the river Susquehanna, at the borough of Towanda, the seat of justice, in the county of Bradford. That CHAUNCEY FRISBIE, JOSEPH M. PIOLLET, HARRY MORGAN, NATHANIEL N. BETTS, THOMAS ELLIOTT, GEORGE H. BULL, HENRY MERCUR, ELIPHALET MASON and WILLIAM MYER, are hereby appointed commissioners. 14 Mar 1831. 75. An act to incorporate the town of Bloomfield, Perry county, into a borough. The borough of Bloomfield is bounded: East corner of a bridge, over GEORGE BARNETT's mill race, to JOHN CLESSE's land , to lands of CASPER LUPFER, thence by lands of Lupfer, to include lands of John Clesse, JOHN D. CREIGH, DR. JONAS ICKES, A.M. AXE, JOHN RICE, M. HUBLER and SAMUEL KLINEPETER, to the corner of J.M. DUNCAN's land, to a black oak on George Barnett's land, to _____ M'COWN's, to beginning. That George Barnett, DAVID LUPFER, Dr. Jonas Ickes and COL. JOHN WILSON, shall superintend the first election. 14 Mar 1831 76. An act to incorporate a company for the purpose of erecting a permanent bridge over the river Conemaugh, at Saltsburg, in Indiana county, near the point at the mouth of the Loyalhanna creek, in Westmoreland county. That WILLIAM STEWART, MICHAEL KUNKLE, JOHN KLINE, and JAMES R. JOHNSTON, of Westmoreland county, EDWARD CARLTON, JAMES LUCK, and JACOB DUNN of Indiana county, are hereby appointed commissioners. 14 Mar 1831. 78. An act for the relief of JACOB BOOZ and EBERHARD OHL, soldiers of the revolutionary war. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Jacob Booz of Montgomery County and Eberhard Ohl of Schuylkill County, soldiers of the revolutionary war, forty dollars each, immediately as a gratuity, and compensation in full for their revolutionary services. 14 Mar 1831. 79. An act for the relief of CHRISTIAN RIBLET, a soldier of the revolution. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Christian Riblet of Union County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately as a gratuity and compensation in full for his revolutionary services. 14 Mar 1831. 80. An act authorizing WILLIAM E. LEHMAN, of the City of Philadelphia, to sell and convey certain real estate, or to lease the same or any part thereof, on ground rent. That William E. Lehman, executor of last will and testament of WILLIAM LEHMAN, ESQ. of the city of Philadelphia, deceased is authorized to sell and convey or lease all right, title and interest of property situated in the city and county of Philadelphia. A lot situated on the south side of Chesnut Street, and east side of Schuylkill Second Street, containing front on Chesnut St. 247 feet and 6 inches and in depth southward 60 feet. Also - a lot of ground on the north side of Chesnut St. between Schuylkill Fifth and Sixth Streets, containing in breadth, on Chestnut St. 22 feet and in depth northward 126 feet. Also - a lot ground with an old and useless tenement, situate on north side of Mulberry St., 50 feet westward from the west side of Delaware Twelfth St. containing 25 feet front, on Mulberry St. in depth, northward, 120 feet. Also - lot of ground with several small tenements, in ruins, situate on the south side of Mulberry St. at the distance of 100 feet eastward from the east side of Broad St. containing on Mulberry St. 50 feet and in depth southward, 137 feet. An act to legitimate the children of DAVID OWEN, by ORILLA BENNET, of the county of Bradford. The children of David Owen, by Orilla Bennett, shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of children born in lawful wedlock and they shall be able to take, hold, inherit, pass and transmit, all and any estate, and to all intents and purposes had been born in lawful wedlock. 14 Mar 1831. 82. A supplement to an act marking lines dividing the counties of Lebanon and Dauphin, passed 23 Mar 1829. That to supply the place of JOHN WEIDMAN ESQ., of Lebanon county, dec. JOHN HARRISON ESQ. of Lebanon county is hereby appointed commissioner. 14 Mar 1831. 83. A supplement to an act to run lines of the counties of Lycoming, Bradford and Tioga. Whereas, JOSEPH STILWELL, has declined to serve as commissioner, JOSEPH F. QUAY, is hereby appointed commissioner in his place, at three dollars per day. 14 Mar 1831 86. A supplement to the act to incorporate the borough of Muncy, in Lycoming county. The borough of Lawrenceville, is bounded at the Tioga river, at the New York line, to the south line of IRA KILBUN's land, to west line of JAMES FORD's land to the New York line. That town of Covington, is bounded at junction of Trout alley, and the east and west state road, west along the line of land owned by EPHRAIM B. GEROULD and JOHN RUSH, thence to the beginning. An act authorizing the laying of a state road from the junction of the Philadelphia and Great Bend, and Easton and Belmont turnpike roads, in Pike county, to the public road leading from Priceburg to the Delaware Water Gap, Northampton county. An act authorizing the laying out a state road from the mouth of Larries creek, Lycoming county, by the way of Wellsborough, Tioga county, to the New York state line, near Lawrenceville. That LORENTUS JACKSON and TITUS IVES of Tioga county, and JOHN KNOX and JOHN FISHER of Lycoming county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out a state road. 23 Mar 1831. 109. An act for the relief of the legal heirs and representatives of WILLIAM WOODS. On the 28 Oct 1829 a judgement was rendered against William Woods of the borough and county of Huntingdon, for the sum of $300.00 on a recognizance dated 13 Apr 1825 conditioned for the appearance of ISRAEL EVANS at the quarter sessions of said county, who after conviction and before sentence was passed upon him absconded and execution upon said judgement has since been levied upon a certain log house and part of a lot of ground, the only property of William Woods, who in June last was accidentally killed, leaving a family of eight children, most of them in their minority and who are now destitute of parents and of any means of sustenance other then the property mentioned. And whereas it would operate oppressively upon the orphan children of said decedent without advancing public justice, the court of common pleas of Huntingdon County is authorized and required to stay further proceedings on a judgement entered in said court, on the 29 Oct 1829 against William Woods and to direct the prothonotary to enter satisfaction on the records of said court for the amount of the debt and interest due on said judgement. 23 Mar 1831. 110. An act authorizing the trustees of REBECCA ENEU to invest moneys of said Rebecca Eneu. That PHILIP PELTZ, JOHN LENTZ, and RICHARD PELTZ, trustees of the estate of Rebecca Eneu of the county of Philadelphia, be empowered to invest all moneys now in their hands in such real estate, bond, mortgage, or other securities as they may deem sufficient with the consent of Rebecca Eneu with all rents, issues, profits or interest being paid to Rebecca Eneu during her lifetime. 23 Mar 1831 114. An act to incorporate a company to make a turnpike road from Bethany to Honesdale. That NATHANIEL B. ELDRED, JAMES MANNING, THOMAS SPANGENBURG, RANDAL WILMOT, CHARLES FORBES, and PAUL S. PRESTON are hereby appointed commissioners. The road shall be not less then forty, and not more then fifty feet in width, well ditched to carry off water, composed of wood, gravel, stone, slate and sand. 25 Mar 1831. 117. An act for the relief of JOSEPH M'DERMOT, and others, revolutionary soldiers. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay DANIEL WAGONER, of Centre county, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately as a gratuity for his revolutionary services. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay CHRISTIAN KOCH of Lycoming County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately and an annuity of forty dollars during life, payable half yearly, to commence on the 1 Jan 1831. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay CHRISTOPHER CAR, of Montgomery County forty dollars immediately, as a gratuity and as full compensation for his revolutionary services. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay HENRY SHANTZ, of Montgomery County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately and an annuity of forty dollars during life, payable half yearly, to commence on 1 Jan 1831. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay WILLIAM BEAN, of Mercer county, forty dollars immediately as a gratuity and as full compensation for his revolutionary services. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay to the children and heirs of PETER LISKE, deceased, $200.00 as full compensation for lot #1995 of 200 acres in the tenth district, which was patented to Peter Liske, and which fell within the boundary of the state of New York. An act to annul the marriage contract of RUDOLPH STAUFFER and MARY STAUFFER his wife. The marriage contract entered into between Rudolph Stauffer and Mary his wife, now or late of the county of Montgomery, is hereby annulled and made void, and the parties released from all duties and obligations arising and derived thereof, as absolutely as if they had never been joined in the bonds of matrimony. 29 Mar 1831. 124. An act to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road, from the nearest eligible place on the Bethany and Dingman's Choice turnpike, not to exceed four miles from Honesdale, to the Narrows of the Delaware river, at Big Eddy, in Wayne county. An act to change the name of SAMUEL WOODCOCK, of Luzerne County, to that of SAMUEL L. WOOD and to legitimate SAMUEL BREDER, of Northampton County. That Samuel Woodcock be authorized to change his name to Samuel L. Wood. Samuel Breder, of the township of Hanover, in the county of Lehigh, son of GEORGE BREDER, of Hanover Township, in the county of Northampton, shall have and enjoy all the rights and privileges of a child born in lawful wedlock as if he had been born in lawful wedlock. 31 Mar 1831. 142. An act to confer on SARAH JONES, the rights, privileges and benefits of a child born in lawful wedlock. That Sarah Jones, of the borough of Lebanan, in the county of Lebanon, the illegitimate daughter of ELIZABETH HUBLER, late of Tulpehocon Twp. Berks County, deceased shall have and enjoy all the rights, privileges, benefits and advantages of a child born in lawful wedlock as if she had been born in lawful wedlock. 30 Mar 1831. 143. An act supplementary to an act entitled "An act authorizing the trustees of NANCY WHARTON, to sell and convey certain property," passed 13 Apr 1827. Whereas, two certain deeds of trust and marriage settlement, all the estate and property, which was of NANCY CRAIG, who intermarried with JOHN WHARTON, was conveyed to EDWARD TILGHMAN, his heirs and assigns, to hold upon the trusts in the deed set forth, and which said trusts, by the death and will of Edward Tilghman, have since become vested in ELIZABETH TILGHMAN, and BENJAMIN TILGHMAN, his executors, and by sundry other deeds, conveyances and assurances, since executed other estates, have become vested in the said Elizabeth Tilghman, and Benjamin Tilghman, their heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, in trust for the like and same uses and purposes, (omitting only the trust until marriage.) as are mentioned in the two deeds of trust and marriage settlement, concerning the estate, real and personal, thereby conveyed and assigned. An act to incorporate the Lizard creek, Lehigh and Loyalhanna bridge companies. That JACOB DINKEY, JOHN D. BOWMAN, JOHN HORR, JACOB ANDREWS, GEORGE KELCHNER and THOMAS CRAIG, are hereby appointed commissioners to erect a bridge over the river Lehigh, above Lizard Creek. BROADHEAD, of Luzerne county, are hereby appointed commissioners, to view and lay out a state road, at the intersection of Centre street, in the town of Tamaqua, Schuylkill county, through the Panther mountain gap, and Lintner's gap of Broad mountain, thence over Spring mountain, to intersect the Berwick turnpike, at the south side of Buck mountain, at Black Creek in Luzerne county. TAYLOR, of the county of Bucks, are hereby appointed commissioners, together with the commissioners appointed by the state of New Jersey, to be incorporated by virtue of the act passed by New Jersey, and the same is adopted and ratified by the commonwealth of Pa. to erect a bridge over the river Delaware. 1 Apr 1831. 154. An act relative to the probate of a certain will Whereas, it is represented that RICHARD STERLING, JR. died sized of about 60 acres of land, situate in the county of Greene, and on his deathbed in the form of a noncupative will, devised the said land to his father, during his natural life, and after his death, to his half brother, GEORGE RATLIFF, a black man. It is further represented that the said George was a slave, at the date of the said devise, by reason of which the estate could not vest. It is hereby enacted that the register of wills in the county of Greene, is herby authorized to receive proof of the noncupative will of the said Richard Sterling, junior, in the same manner and with like effect, as if the said George Ratliff had been a freeman at the time of the making of said will, as if the same had been done within the time prescribed by law. The disability of George Ratliff to inherit as next of kin to Richard Sterling Jr., deceased, be removed and George Ratliff is hereby invested with the same rights and privileges, in relation to said estate, as if he had been free at the death of Richard Sterling Jr. providing nothing shall interfere with the rights of the master to the service of the said George, and that the aforesaid estate may be sold, or disposed of by the said George, or pass to his heirs, under the intestate laws of this commonwealth. 1 Apr 1831. 155. An act authorizing the guardian of the minor children of ANDREW CAIRNS, to sell certain real estate. That it shall be lawful for MOSES SULLIVAN, guardian of the minor children of Andrew Cairns, late of Beaver County, deceased, to make sale of a tract of land, containing 120 acres, adjoining lands of LAWRENCE SHIVELY, and others in Hopewell Twp. Beaver County, of which the said Andrew Cairns, died seized, on behalf of children to allow and pay to ALEXANDER LORRIMER and ELIZABETH LORRIMER his wife, a just recompensation for their release of the right of dower of the said Elizabeth, in said tract of land, provided the consent of such children as may be of full age at time of sale shall be given. This act shall be approved by the orphan's court of Beaver County and said guardian shall give satisfactory security to said court for the proper discharge of the money arising from said sale. 1 Apr 1831. 156. An act authorizing JOHN SHINDLE and HENRY WINGERT, executors of the last will and testament of PETER SHINDLE, to sell and convey certain real estate. Whereas Peter Shindle, late of Lebanon county, deceased, by his last will and testament, dated 14 Feb 1825 ordered and directed that the stone house, where his son JACOB SHINDLE keeps tavern, should be appraised by three men, and Jacob might take it at the valuation, and that the same three men should appraise the house where he resided and CONRAD SHINDLE might take it at the valuation. After appraisement the guardians (John Shindle and Henry Wingert) of the children of Jacob Shindle dec. refused to take the stone house at the appraisement and Conrad Shindle refused to take residence house at the appraisement and no provision was made for the refusal in the will and that said Peter Shindel died seized of another house and lot situated in the borough of Lebanon adjoining lots of JOHN GLENINGER, JACOB ARNDT, and the Lebanon academy lot, that no provision was made by said will for the disposal of said house and lot. Therefore it is enacted that John Shindle and Henry Wingert, executors of the last will and testament of Peter Shindle, late of Lebanon County dec. are authorized to sell and convey title to all three pieces of property. 1 Apr 1831. 158. An act to authorize the auditors of Gibson Twp. in the county of Clearfield, to settle account of WILLIAM LEONARD, late supervisor of Lawrence and Gibson Twps. in said county. In payment for work done within the township of Gibson after said township of Gibson was struck off from the township of Lawrence, but before supervisors had been elected in the township of Gibson. 159. An act authorizing BENJAMIN MARTIN, under direction of the orphans' court of Bedford County, to execute a deed to HENRY WHILT. Henry Whilt purchased from the surviving executrix of DANIEL DAVIS, deceased, a certain tract of 205 acres of land in the township of Providence, county of Bedford, that Henry Whilt has received possession of the said premises and on his part has fully complied with the contract. That MARY DAVIS, the said executrix of Daniel Davis, deceased, has since died intestate, and BENJAMIN MARTIN administered to her estate, that no deed has been executed for the said tract of land. It shall be lawful for the orphans' court of Bedford County to hear proof of the said Henry Whilt and others interested and on being fully satisfied that Henry Whilt ought to receive a title for the land the court shall authorize Benjamin Martin, administrator of the estate of Mary Davis deceased, to make and execute a deed. 1 Apr 1831. 160. An act for the relief of the administrators of JOHN KENDALL, dec. and ISAAC GRIFFITH, late deputy marshalls. That the Auditor General is authorized to audit and re-settle the account of militia fines, collected by John Kendall, now deceased, late a Deputy Marshall of the United States, for the counties of Berks and Schuylkill, as rendered by JOHN MILLER and JOHN BICKEL, his administrators and of Isaac Griffith, late a Deputy Marshall of Bucks County and in re-settlement of all accounts to allow all changes as would have been allowed, and amount of any balance which may be found to be due, to the aforesaid administrator of John Kendall, shall be paid out of the state treasury, provided such balance shall not exceed $396.95. The lien of the commonwealth against the real estate of Isaac Griffith and his securities, shall not be destroyed, or in any wise impaired, so far as respects the residue, which may be found remaining due from him to the commonwealth, after such re-settlement. 161. An act to incorporate the Fishing creek railroad company. That CHARLES GRAEFF, JOHN GODDARD and GEORGE M'ELDRIGE of Philadelphia, SIMON GUILFORD, of Lebanon county, GEORGE N. ECKERT of Berks county, SAMUEL HAIN, BENJAMIN AYCRIGG of Schuylkill county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay down and fix a route for a single or double railroad commencing at the feeder of the Union canal, at the mouth of Fishing creek, in Pinegrove twp., Schuylkill county, to the foot of Broad mountain. 1 Apr 1831. 167. An act for the relief of ABRAHAM FRAYER. The State Treasurer is authorized to pay Abraham Frayer of Butler County $300.00 in full for a tract of donation land, which was granted to JOHN MILLER, a soldier of the revolutionary war, whose right and interest has become legally vested in Abraham Frayer, situate in what is commonly called the Struck donation, in the second district, #352, containing 200 acres, which had previously to the date of the patent, been appropriated by actual settlement. Provided said Frayer, shall first deposit in the office of the Secretary of the Land Office, his title papers and a release thereof. 1 Apr 1831. 168. An act to erect Youngstown, in the county of Westmoreland, into a borough. Boundaries are: beginning at _____ KEENAN's mill, thence to the turnpike at JOHN RAWAN's, southeast to MARTIN WEST's, to FRANCIS LITTEL's, etc. The electors shall hold their elections at the house of JOHN GIBSON, in the borough of Youngstown, and JAMES KEENAN and WILLIAM T. BALDRIDGE shall superintend the election. 2 Apr 1831. 170. An act to alter the boundaries of the borough of Jersey Shore, in Lycoming county. The boundaries are: beginning at the West branch of the Susquehanna river, at the corner of land of RICHARD WEBB and JACOB W. PFOUTS, along the land of THOMAS CALVERT, to a corner of WILLIAM B. SMITH, to a corner of ABRAHAM LAWSHE's lot, thence to a public road leading to the house of JAMES NICHOLS, thence along the lands of Abraham Lawshe and JAMES WILSON, north to a post on the line of JOHN SLONECKER, over his lands, to a post on the line of ROBERT MAFFET, over his lands, to the river. 2 Apr 1831. 171. An act for the relief of JOHN SANTEE, a soldier of the revolutionary war. PALETHORP, THOMAS CAVE, of the city of Philadelphia, BENJAMIN SERRILL, BENJAMIN PEIRSON, THOMAS SMITH, PRESTON EYRE, GEORGE G. LEIPER, JOSEPH ENGLE, SAMUEL EDWARDS, and ARCHIBALD T. DICK, JOHN K. ZEALIN, JOSEPH M.G. LESCURE, HENRY MYERS, WILLIAM AMIES, DAVID LYONS, JOHN HINKSON of Delaware county, are hereby appointed commissioners to locate and construct a railroad of one or more tracts from the city of Philadelphia, along the route of the Baltimore post road, making the post towns of Darby and Chester, to the Delaware state line. That THOMAS D. GROVER, JOHN PIERCE, JAMES M'CANN, WILLIAM G. ALEXANDER, JOSEPH BURDEN, PHILIP PELTZ, F.A. RAYHOLD, JOSEPH SOLMS, GEORGE M. HICKLING and JOHN CREAN are hereby appointed commissioners, of the Southwark railroad company, and are to construct a railroad of one or more tracts, from the Delaware river, in the district of Southwark, through the county of Philadelphia, to Broad and Cedar Streets, through the county of Philadelphia to the river Schuylkill. 2 Apr 1831. 174. An act to incorporate the Swatara and Good Spring creek railroad company. That G.M. ELDRIDGE, and ISAAC STARR, of the city of Philadelphia, ISAAC ECKERT of Berks county, CHRISTIAN LEY, of Lebanon county, MARCUS CAUFMAN and SIMON ULMAN of Pinegrove, Schuylkill county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay and fix a route for a single or double tract railroad, from the northern end of the Union canal company's railroad, up the Swatara river, up Good Spring creek, to a point in the heart of the coal region, in the county of Schuylkill. 2 Apr 1831. 175. An act to incorporate the Roush creek railroad company. That NATHAN BUNKER and JACOB MAYLAND, of the city of Philadelphia, DANIEL D.B. KEIM and PETER ECKERT, of Berks county, SAMUEL HAIN and WILLIAM GRAEFF of the county of SCHUYLKILL, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay down and mark a single or double railroad from the northern end of the Union canal company's railroad, up Roush creek, to a point in the heart of the coal region of Schuylkill county. 2 Apr 1831. 176. An act to incorporate the trustees of the township and borough of Wilkesbarre, the trustees of the township of Plymouth, and the trustees of the township of Hanover, in the county of Luzerne. That until the election of officers, ELEAZER BLACKMAN, HEZEKIAH PARSONS and ANDERSON DANA, the present committees of the borough and township of Wilkesbarre, FREEMAN THOMAS, CALVIN WADHAMS and BENJAMIN REYNOLDS, the present committees of the township of Plymouth, and SAMUEL JAMESON, JOHN MOYER and JOSEPH HUNTINGTON, the present committee of the township of Hanover, shall be vested with the powers of trustees and any suit except the suit against CHRISTIAN MENSCH, already commenced, may be prosecuted to a final determination, by the respective corporations. 2 Apr 1831. 180. An act to incorporate the Cumberland Valley railroad company. That SAMUEL ALEXANDER, JOHN HARPER, CHARLES B. PENROSE, JOHN M. WOODBURN, and ANDREW M'DOWELL, of Carlisle, ADAM REIGLE, HENRY FORD, LEWIS ZEARING of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland county, JACOB M. HALDEMAN and JOHN FORSTER of Harrisburg, Dauphin county, and MARK RICHARDS and JACOB F. PLEIS of Philadelphia, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay down and mark a railroad beginning at the borough of Carlisle, Cumberland county, to a point on the Susquehanna river, near the borough of Harrisburg. 2 Apr 1831. 182. An act to authorize PETER RICHTER to use the towing path side of the Pennsylvania canal, to load and unload property at his store house. It is hereby enacted that Peter Richter be authorized to use the towing path side of the Pa. canal, in loading and unloading property at his store house, erected on the Isle of Que, in Union County, provided he does not injure said towing path or canal and does not interfere with or impede the passage of any persons or property on said canal or towing path and that the consent of the board of canal commissioners shall first be obtained. 2 Apr 1831. 183. An act authorizing JACOB KIRK, of Lancaster County to sell and convey certain real estate. That Jacob Kirk, of Lancaster County, is hereby authorized to sell and convey all the right, title and interest of SARAH WOOD, minor daughter of THOMAS WOOD, of Lancaster County dec. and also the right, title and interest of the minor children of ANNE MONTGOMERY, dec. who was a child and one of the heirs of Thomas Wood dec. in two certain pieces of property; one being a tract of land of 100 acres, and the other an undivided fourth part of a tract of land, containing about 120 acres, both in the county of Lancaster. 2 Apr 1831. 184. An act authorizing DANIEL ESTERLY, administrator of the the estate of DANIEL DRENKEL, dec., CATHARINE ETTER, guardian of five minor children, and DANIEL FOCHT and DANIEL A. BERTOLET, to sell certain real estate. That Daniel Esterly, administrator of the estate of Daniel Drenkel of Berks County, dec. be hereby authorized to sell the right, title and interest of the estate of Daniel Drenkel held in lands and to make good and sufficient deeds. That Catharine Etter of Lancaster County, guardian of her five minor children, COLEMAN ETTER, BAYARD ETTER, MARY ANN ETTER, RUFUS KING ETTER and JAMES MONROE ETTER, by her late husband JACOB ETTER, dec. is hereby authorized to release to GEORGE WASHINGTON COOKE, all that large stone and brick house and lot of ground, situated on the corner of Second Street, or turnpike road and Walnut Street, in the borough of Marietta, being the same premises by article of agreement, dated 17 Feb 1814, the said Jacob Etter agreed to purchase of DAVID COOKE, the father of George Washington Cooke, but for which the said Jacob Etter had not paid the purchase money agreeably to the covenants, and no title for the same had been made by the said David Cooke to the said Jacob Etter. That David Focht and Daniel A. Bertolet, executors of the last will and testement of GEORGE FOCHT, of Oley Twp. Berks Co. dec. are authorized to execute and deliver to ALEXANDER THARP, administrator of the estate of THOMAS THARP, of Shamokin Twp. Northumberland Co. dec. a deed of conveyance for a certain tract of land, containing 126 acres in the township of Shamokin, Northumberland Co. which was sold by George Focht to Thomas Tharp. An act authorizing the laying out a state road in Berks and Schuylkill counties. That JONATHAN MILLER, of Berks county, and JOHN HEIM and HENRY STAGER, of Schuylkill county, are hereby appointed commissioners to lay out, a state road, beginning at state road leading from Hamburg to Roehrersburg, where a public road from Bernville intersects the same, near SOLOMON ALBRIGHT's tavern in Upper Bern township, Berks county, to Schuylkill Haven, in Schuylkill county. 2 Apr 1831. 187. An act to incorporate the Wyalusing salt manufacturing company. Whereas, there are indications of salt water, in the county of Susquehanna, and the citizens of Bradford and Susquehanna counties have been engaged in the search for salt water, for the last twenty-four years without success, therefore, JABEZ HYDE JR., DANIEL ROSS, SALMON BOSWORTH, DIMON BOSTWICK, IRA BRISTER and SAMUEL BRADSHAW are hereby appointed commissioners. 2 Apr 1831. 188. An act to annul the marriage contract of JAMES UNDERWOOD and MARGARET UNDERWOOD his wife, DAVID CONYNGHAM and MARIA CONYNGHAM his wife, PHILIP BUSH and ESTHER BUSH his wife, and JAMES DOVE and ANN DOROTHEA DOVE his wife. That the marriage contract entered into between James Underwood and Margaret his wife, of the county of Luzerne, be annulled and made void, and the parties released, and set free from the marriage contract, and from all duties and obligations, as fully as if they had never been joined in the bonds of Matrimony. That the marriage contract entered into between David Conyngham and Marie his wife, of the county of Lancaster, be annulled and made void, and the parties released and set free form the marriage contract and from all duties and obligations as fully as if they had never been joined in the bonds of matrimony. That the marriage contract entered into between Philip Bush and Esther his wife, of the county of Westmoreland, be annulled and made void and the parties released and set free from the marriage contract and from all duties and obligations as fully as if they had never been joined in the bonds of matrimony. That the marriage contract entered into between James Dove and Ann Dorothea his wife, of the city of Philadelphia, be annulled and made void and the parties released and set free from the marriage contract and from all duties and obligations as fully as if they had never been joined in the bonds of matrimony. 2 Apr 1831. 189. An act authorizing the laying out a graded road from Robbstown, by way of GENERAL MARKLE's mill, Greensburg, and to intersect the Northern turnpike road at New Alexandria, in Westmoreland county. An act to incorporate a company to make a free road from ABRAHAM HAYS, in the Somerset and Mountpleasant turnpike, to _____ WALTHOUR's on the Greenburg and Pittsburg turnpike, in the county of Westmoreland. That Abraham Hays, THOMAS HURST, ABRAHAM WEAVER, JOHN BYERS, SAMUEL POOL, JOSEPH GROSS, JOHN MCREIL, ANDREW FULTON, JACOB HARROLD, WILLIAM HINDMAN, JOHN PAINTER and JACOB EISERMAN, are hereby appointed commissioners. 2 Apr 1831. 191. An act for the relief of JACOB GALENTINE, PHILIP LONGSTRETH and JOSHUA NAPP, soldiers of the revolution. That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Jacob Galentine of Fayette County, and to Philip Longstreth, of Greene County, soldiers of the revolutionary war, forty dollars each, immediately and an annuity of forty dollars each during life, payable half yearly, to commence on the 1 Jan 1831. That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay to Joshua Napp, of Columbianna County, in the state of Ohio, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars during life payable half yearly to commence on the 1 Jan 1831. 2 Apr 1831. 192. An act relative to real estate, and vesting the interest of this commonwealth in escheated estates, in certain persons therein named. The orphan's court of Dauphin county, are hereby authorized upon the application of the executor of LEONARD WALLOUER, late of Dauphin county, dec., to issue a writ to the sheriff of the county, to have the said real estate appraised, and to give notice to all heirs, notice to be given to the sons of the testator, to come into court to take the real estate at the said valuation. That ISABELLA HURST and ELIPHALET BETTS, administrators of HENRY HURST, late of Crawford county, dec., are hereby authorized to perform all acts, in conjunction with IRA A. BLOSSOM, by virtue of act passed 27 Mar 1827. That THOMAS M'CALMONT and WILLIAM M'CALMONT, guardians of the persons and estates of STEWART MCKEE, JANE MCKEE and THOMAS MCKEE, minor children of the late THOMS MCKEE, of Centre county, dec., now residents of Wayne county, in the territory of Michigan, are hereby authorized to convey to PETER MURRAY, all the estate, title and right of Stewart McKee, Jane McKee and Thomas McKee, in a tract of land situated in Walker twp., Centre county, containing 84 acres, and full power is given to Thomas M'Calmont and William M'Calmont, to execute a deed for the land to Peter Murray, and purchase money to be used for the minor children with payment of residue if any, to be given them upon attaining full age. That DANIEL CHRISTY, one of the guardians of ADAM SHAFFER, a lunatic, late Beaver county, dec. is hereby authorized with the consent of the orphan's court, to convey all right and title of Adam Shaffer in 25 acres of land, situate in Beaver county, to JOHN SHAFFER, according to an article of agreement between the guardians of said lunatic and John Shaffer, for maintaining and providing the lunatic with sufficient meat, drink, washing and lodging during his natural life. That JACOB OSWALD, DANIEL OSWALD, BENJAMIN OSWALD, and JACOB MOSSER JR., guardians of the minor children of GEORGE SITTLER, late of Lehigh county, dec. are hereby authorized to sell the right and title of the minor children, in an undivided tract of land, situated in West Penn twp., Schuylkill county, adjoining lands of JOHN KERSCHNER and others, containing about 300 acres, and also convey them to the purchasers by a deed, as if the minors were of full age, provided, that before Jacob Oswald, guardian of POLLY SITTLER, Daniel Oswald, guardian of REBECCA SITTLER, Benjamin Oswald, guardian of HETTY SITTLER, and Jacob Mosser Jr., guardian of SUSANNA SITTLER and SOLOMON SITTLER, shall give bond to the court. That the estate of LAZARUS STEWART, of Luzerne county, real, personal and mixed, is hereby vested in CALVIN WADHAMS, ALEXANDER JAMESON and CHARLES D. SHOEMAKER, it being represented that Lazarus, from imbecility of intellect, is wholly incapable of managing or taking care of his own concerns, and Calvin Alexander, and Charles D. Shoemaker, trustees, are hereby authorized to collect in their own names, all debts due to Lazarus Stewart that may be necessary for the support of him and invest them in some productive fund for his use, and it shall be the duty of them to file every two years an account of their proceedings, or the trust will be null and void. That GEORGE BACHMAN, trustee appointed by Northampton county, under the last will and testament of George Bachman, dec., is hereby authorized to grant and convey to the Lehigh coal and navigation company, a certain tract of land situate in Bethlehem township, on the river Lehigh, adjoining lands of LEVI D. BODDER, JOHN FREEMAN, and of the Lehigh Coal and navigation company, containing 10 acres, 87 perches, for the consideration agreed upon and to sell the residue of the tract being the balance of 10 acres, 87 perches, for the best price and convey the same to the purchaser. That JOSEPH M'NAUGHTON, guardian of MARY CLOUSER, minor child of JOSEPH CLOUSER, late of Juniata township, Perry county, dec. is hereby authorized to sell and convey all right and title of Mary Clouser in a certain plantation, situate in Juniata twp., bounded by lands of PHILIP BOSSERMAN, JOSEPH GAUNT's heirs, VALENTINE BURREL, and others, containing 100 acres. That CORNELIUS CORTRIGHT, guardian of LOUISA CORTRIGHT and CORNELIUS CORTRIGHT, and JOHN GORE JR., guardian of GEORGE CORTRIGHT and HANNAH CORTRIGHT, minor children of JOHN CORTRIGHT, late of Pittston, Luzerne county, dec. intestate, are hereby authorized to sell all the rights and title of the minor children in a certain lot situate in the township of Pittston, containing about 58 acres, being part lot #1 and to execute a deed of conveyance to the purchaser, and to invest in some productive fund the proceeds not wanted for the maintenance and education of the children, filing an account every two years with the courts, with a final accounting upon the children reaching the age of 21. That JOSEPH PATTON, guardian, by appointment of the court of Washington county, of WILLIAM PATTON, JOSEPH PATTON JR., ALEXANDER PATTON, JOHN PATTON, SAMUEL PATTON, and ESTHER PATTON, minor children of Joseph Patton, is hereby authorized to sell all the right and title of the minor children, in 100 acres of land, situate in Franklin county, and to convey them to the purchaser as if the minors were of full age. That all the right, title and interest, which this commonwealth may have acquired by reason of escheat, for want of legal heirs of JULIAN ARMSTRONG, late of Butler county, dec. whereof she was possessed or entitled to by her mother SARAH WRIGHT, late of Butler county, dec., is hereby granted and vested in SAMUEL WRIGHT, MARGARET STEVENSON, and NANCY WRIGHT of Butler twp., Butler county. That it shall be lawful for HENRY STONEROAD, guardian of JOHN STONEROAD, HENRY STONEROAD, SAMUEL STONEROAD, SUSANNA STONEROAD and MARY ANN STONEROAD, minor children of THOMAS STONEROAD, late of Donegal Twp., Lancaster county, dec., to make sale of an undivided sixth part of a tract of land, containing 114 acres and 5 perches, situate in Fermanaugh Twp., Mifflin county, adjoining lands of JAMES STERNS, JOHN GRAY and others, and convey a good deed of conveyance, to the purchaser as if the minors were of full age. That PETER IHRIE JR., executor of the last will and testament of GEORGE IHRIE, late of the borough of Easton, Northampton county, dec., is hereby authorized to sell and convey all the right and title which George Ihrie, dec., at the time of death held, in a tract of land situate in Plainfield Twp. adjoining lands of JOHN MILLER, SAMUEL RUSSEL, PETER DEETS and others, containing 5 acres more or less, and also the one equal undivided eighth part, which George Ihrie, purchased in his life time, of the real estate of which GEORGE NOLF, formerly of Forks twp., died seized. That all right, claim and interest which the commonwealth may have acquired, by reason of any escheat to the personal property of JANE EASTON, from want of heirs, or by reason of her not disposing of the personal property bequeathed in her will of her father, HECTOR EASTON, of Franklin county, shall be vested in ALEXANDER EASTON, an illegitimate child of Jane Easton. That JOSEPH ALEXANDER, guardian of ROBERT ARBUTHNOT, of Washington county, is hereby authorized to sell and convey all the right and title of the minor, in a tract of land, situate in Buffaloe Twp., Washington county, containing 70 acres and to execute a title as fully as if the minor was of the age of 21. That HENRY HERSHNER, who is acting committee for the person and estate of LAWRENCE HERSHNER of Shrewsbury twp., York county, a lunatic, is hereby authorized to sell and convey all the right and title of Lawrence Hershner in 52 acres situate in the township and to convey the same by good deed as fully as if Lawrence were of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding. That ROBERT P. ELDER and ELIZABETH ELDER, guardians of the minor children of ROBERT ELDER, late of Swatara twp., Dauphin county, are hereby authorized to sell all the right and title of the minors in a tract of land, situate in Armstrong county, containing 310 3/4 acres, bounded by lands of JAMES ALEXANDER, by vacant land, by lands of JOHN SWIFT JR., and by lands of JOHN SWIFT and ANDREW BONNER, and convey it by deed to the purchaser, and the monies arising from the sale, to be applied to the improvement of a certain tract of land situate in Swatara twp., (other property of minors) and for the education and maintenance of the minors. That the escheated estate of DENNIS MAGEE, late of Fayette county, dec., whether real, personal, or mixed, is hereby vested in CONRAD MAGEE, his illegitimate son, as if he had been born in lawful wedlock. That JOHN GIBBS JR., of the city of Philadelphia, and SUSANNA GIBBS, also of the city, shall have and enjoy the rights and privileges of children born in wedlock to JOHN GIBBS, of Philadelphia, as full as if had been born in wedlock. That GEORGE WISE, guardian of the minor children of ELIZABETH HUFFORD, is hereby authorized to sell, all the rights and title of the minor children under the will of their grandfather, MATHEW RUSSEL, to a tract of land, situate in West Bethlehem twp., Washington county, and to execute a deed of conveyance to the purchaser, as fully as if the minors were of full age. That the last will and testament of JOSEPH PEARCE ESQ., late of Chester county, dec. JANE PEARCE and COL. CROMWELL PEARCE, his executors, were authorized to sell all the rest of his estate, within two years after his death, and by a codicil were empowered to make all deeds for the same. Whereas, the executors were unable to effect a sale within the time period, therefore, they are hereby authorized to make a sale and deed as if they had done so within the time period. That WILLIAM CHADDERTON, of Bucks county, the natural guardian of his minor children, MARY CHADDERTON and PHOEBE CHADDERTON, is hereby authorized to sell all the share, right and title of his minor children to any part of two tracts of land, situate in Northampton county, on the river Lehigh, one on the west side of the river, at the mouth of Nesquehoning creek, containing 170 acres, together with a small island near the mouth of the creek, and the other on the east side of the river Lehigh, opposite to the first tract, containing 167 1/4 acres, and to convey the same by good instruments of writing, to the purchaser as if the minors were of full age. Whereas, by an act passed 7 Apr 1830, MARY BROWN, trustee for MELISSA L. MOORE, was authorized with the consent of Melissa Moore, to let on ground rent forever, certain unimproved lots in the county of Philadelphia, and also to sell a part of the trust estate, to pay a mortgage debt due thereon, and since Mary Brown is dec. without having executed and performed the trust, therefore all power vested in Mary Brown is hereby vested in any trustee appointed by the supreme court of the eastern district of Pa. or by the court of the city of Philadelphia, to raise a sum not exceeding $2500.00 to CLEMENT REMINGTON for a mortgage debt, dated 27 Jan 1826 and recorded at Philadelphia in mortgage book G.W.R. #5, pg 201, on premises situate at the south east corner of Wood and John streets, n the district of Spring Garden, also to pay the expenses of paving the street in front of the unimproved part of the trust estate, situate on Sixth street, between Coates and Poplar lane, and of paving and curbing the footway in front of the same premises, and also the expense of filling up the lots to the lawful regulation of the district. That the title which this commonwealth may have acquired, by reason of an escheat, for want of heirs, of PETER KELLER, late of Colerain twp., Bedford county, dec., to the real and personal property whereof Peter died seized is hereby vested in LEONARD MAY and JOHN MAY, executors of JOHN MAY SEN., late of Bedford county, for the use and benefit of the hiers of JOHN MAY ESQ., dec. That ABRAHAM AURAND, administrator of the estate of ANDREW MILLER, late of Buffaloe twp., in Union county, dec. is hereby authorized to make and execute a deed to CATHARINE O'BRIAN for a certain house and half lot of ground, situate in the town of Lewisburg, in Union county, lying on the east side of Fourth street, adjoining a lot of CHARLES BYERS, and others. That it shall be lawful for WILLIAM M. GIRR, guardian of THEODORE LINDLEY, a minor, to make sale of the undivided interest of Theodore, (being one third part) in two tracts of land, situate in Pike run township, Washington county, one adjoins lands of SAMUEL ALLEN, WILLIAM RIGGS and others, containing 100 acres, the other, adjoining lands of ALLEN STOCKDALE, Samuel Allen, and the Monongahela river, containing 105 acres, and convey the estate by good and sufficient deed of conveyance to the purchaser, as if Theodore Lindley had attained the age of 21. That ELEAZAR CAREY, of Luzerne county, is hereby authorized to sell and convey to MERRIT SLOCUM, all the right and title to a certain tract of land, situate in Pittston township, containing 45 acres, adjoining lands of the Baltimore coal company, and others, which descended to FRANCES SLOCUM CAREY, and RHODA SAWYER CAREY, minor children of Eleazar Carey and FRANCES SLOCUM CAREY SEN., his wife, now dec., at the decease of their maternal aunt, SARAH SLOCUM, and Eleazar Carey is hereby vested with authority to execute a deed of conveyance as if the minor children were of lawful age. He shall invest the proceeds of the sale in the stock of the Wyoming bank, at Wilkesbarre, for the sole use, benefit and advantage of the minor children, without the power of diverting the same to any other purpose. That DAVID DERRICKSON, administrator of the estate of PATRICK FARRELLY ESQ., late of Meadville, Crawford county, Pa., who died intestate, is hereby authorized to sell so much of the real estate in the counties of Erie, Crawford and Venango, as may be deemed necessary for the payment of the debts of the intestate, and to vest in a purchaser the title. That the State Treasurer is hereby directed to pay to JONAS YOCUM, of Berks county, the amount of money, which was paid in the treasury on the 15 Jul 1830, by H.W. SMITH, deputy escheator of Berks county, on account of the escheated estate of POLLY HATZFIELD, dec.. That FRANCIS PATRICK KENRICK, acting Roman Catholic bishop, in the diocese of Philadelphia, is hereby empowered to sell and convey by deed, tow certain lots of ground, situate in the borough of Huntingdon, designated by numbers 174 & 175, and to vest in the purchaser all the interest, in the lots of ground now held in trust for the use of the Roman Catholic congregation, conditioned that he apply the proceeds towards the discharge of debt incurred by the said society in the purchase of other lots and erecting a church. That THOMAS KERR, FRANCIS BOGGS, and JOHN KNOX, commissioners of Mifflin county, are hereby authorized to sell and convey the jail and lot of ground on which it stands, and the proceeds shall be paid by the purchaser to the treasurer of the county, to be applied to county purposes. That all the estate, title and claim of THOMAS BILLINGTON, the elder, of Philadelphia, in his life time, to any lands, tenements etc. in Pa. which upon his decease descended to, and are now owned by his heirs, according to the intestate laws shall be vested in HENRY BILLINGTON of Philadelphia, and he shall sell and dispose of any of the estate, at any time and execute and deliver to the purchaser a good conveyance, and they may use any lawful means for the recovery of the possession of any part of the estate. Henry Billington shall apply the proceeds of the sales to defray the reasonable expenses of the execution of this trust, and the balance to divide among the rightful heirs. That JOSEPH STAYMAN, guardian of the minor children of OWEN EVANS, late of Cumberland county, dec. is hereby authorized to sell the right and title of the minor children, in a tract of land containing 20 acres, situate in Dickinson twp., adjoining lands of the heirs of NICHOLAS HORTING, and others, belonging to the heirs of Owen Evans, dec., and to execute a deed to the purchaser. That JOSHUA MARLIN, of Indiana county, and JAMES MCCAHAN, of Huntingdon county, guardians of the minor children of JOHN LAUGHLIN, late of Indiana county, are hereby authorized to sell and convey all the right title and interest in a tract of land, #5844, situate in Armstrong county, containing 440 acres and 74 perches, belonging to the minor children of John Laughlin, dec. 4 Apr 1831. 193. An act for the preservation and repair of the Cumberland road. Whereas, that part of the Cumberland road, lying within the state of Pa. in many parts in bad condition for want of repairs, and doubts have been entertained whether the United States have authority to erect toll gates on the road, and collect toll,and as a large proportion of the people of this commonwealth are interested in this road, and its continuance and preservation. Therefore, WILLIAM F. COPLAN, DAVID DOWNER of Fayette county, STEPHEN HILL, BENJAMIN ANDERSON of Washington county, and THOMAS ENDSLEY, of Smithfield, Somerset county, shall be appointed commissioners for three years, to build toll houses, and erect toll gates on the Cumberland road as lies within the state of Pa. That the amount of tolls, after deducting costs, shall be applied to the repairs and preservation of the road. 4 Apr 1831. 194. An act to provide for the erection of a house for the employment and support of the poor, in the county of Schuylkill. An act to incorporate a company, to make a canal navigation round the western abutment of the permanent bridge, over the river Schuylkill, at the city of Philadelphia. That GEORGE N. BAKER, W.G. HAINES, WILLIAM M'GLINCY, JOSEPH B. MITCHELL, ROBERT C. MARTIN, JAMES M'CORMACK, JOHN WATERS, JOHN CREAN, GEORGE EMERICK, are hereby appointed commissioners of the West Philadelphia canal company. 4 Apr 1831. 200. An act for the relief of JAMES M'NAMEE. That the Canal Commissioners are hereby authorized to settle with James McNamee, late a contractor, on section #37, of the Juniata division, of the Pa. Canal for retained per centage, and for materials delivered, and if they find any due to him for work done on said section, they are required to direct payment as may appear due on the canal commissioners' books. 2 Apr 1831 201. An act authorizing the court of common pleas of the county of Berks, to direct the docket of ADOLPH HATZFIELD, to be delivered to some other justice of the peace, and to appoint a committee to take charge of the property of Adolph Hatzfield. Whereas Adolph Hatzfield, a justice of the peace for the county of Berks, in the month of August last past, was convicted of the crime of murder in the second degree, and sentenced to be punished, by imprisonment for twelve years, in the eastern penitentiary and that many cases upon his dockets remain unsettled, and also he has many unsettled accounts and owes some debts the court of common pleas of Berks county is authorized to order and direct the dockets of Adolph Hatzfield, a justice of the peace, to be delivered to any other justice of the peace who shall be designated by the court, together with all bonds, notes, books and papers, belonging to other persons, and placed in the hands of Adolph Hatzfield. That the justice of the peace to whom the aforesaid dockets shall be delivered shall issue process and proceed in the same manner as the said Adolph Hatzfield might had done. The court is authorized to appoint some competent person or committee to take charge of the property and estate of Adolph Hatzfield and shall have the same power to dispose of property and estate of Adolph Hatzfield under existing law. 4 Apr 1831. 203. An act for the relief of JOHN HARMAN and JAMES DUNGAN, soldiers and MARY ALBERT, the widow of a soldier of the revolutionary war. The State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay John Harman, of Fayette county, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately as a gratuity and compensation in full for revolutionary services. The State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay Mary Albert, of Washington County, Maryland, widow of a revolutionary soldier, forty dollars immediately and annuity of forty dollars payable half yearly during life to commence on 1 Jan 1831. The State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay James Dungan of Philadelphia County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars immediately, as a gratuity in full for his revolutionary services. 4 Apr 1831 204. An act authorizing the supervisors of Saville township, Perry county, to open a part of the state road, leading from Landisburg to Mifflintown. The supervisors are to open that part of the road which lies between Ickesburg and a school house, near the house of ALEXANDER ROBINSON, and to keep the road in repair, notwithstanding the sum of 300 dollars, may not have been subscribed, to aid in the making the road over the Tuscarora mountain, relating to the act passed 22 Apr 1829 is hereby repealed. 4 Apr 1831. 205. An act for the relief of JOHN BYERS, a soldier of the revolutionary war. The State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay John Byers of York County, a soldier of the revolution, forty dollars, immediately, and an annuity of forty dollars, payable half yearly, during life, to commence on the 1 Jan 1831. 4 Apr 1831. 206. An act to annul the marriage contract of JOHN WEAVER and CATHARINE WEAVER his wife. That the marriage contract entered into by John Weaver and Catharine his wife, of Montgomery County, be declared null and void, and they are hereby discharged and set free from all obligation , arising therefrom. 4 Apr 1831. 210. An act to incorporate the Rock Cabin and Tangascontack railroad company in Centre county. That ALEXANDER MAHON of Centre county, WILLIAM WILSON of Lycoming county, EBENEZER GREENOUGH of Northumberland coundy, SIMON CAMERON, GEORGE MISH and ISAAC M'CORD, of Dauphin county, and BENJAMIN S. BONSALL, JOHN WHITE, WILLIAM G. ALEXANDER, MICHAEL E. ISRAEL, GEORGE M. HICKLING, WILLIAM F. HARRISON, ROBERT C. MARTIN, JOSEPH BURDEN, JOSEPH B. MITCHELL of the city of Philadelphia, are hereby appointed commissioners to survey and lay down a single or double railroad, beginning at Rock Cabin, thence down to the river Susquehanna in Centre county. 4 Apr 1831. 211. An act authorizing the sale of certain real estate, belonging to the heirs of CHRISTIAN GEESE, dec. That ALEXANDER MAHON and ELIZABETH GEESE, administrators of the estate of Christian Geese, late of the borough of Newville, Cumberland County are authorized to sell all the right, title, and interest in the following two lots of ground, with the buildings thereon erected, situate on the north side of Main street in the borough of Newville, numbered 28 and 38, in the plan of said borough; also a lot of ground situate in Newton Twp., Cumberland Co. bounded by the Conodaguinett Creek and lands late of WILLIAM M'CANDLISH, dec. and others containing 11 acres and 68 perches, and to execute a deed to the purchasers. 4 Apr 1831. 212. A supplement to the act for the relief of the creditors of the Harrisburg, Carlisle and Chambersburg turnpike road. Whereas, that MATTHEW IRVINE has become liable to WILLIAM SCOTT, MICHAEL KIMMEL and ANDREW ALDRIDGE and BENJAMIN HIGDON, trading under the firm of Aldridge and Higdon, for the sum of $5000.00, with interest from the 2 Aug 1819, which money was recovered against Matthew Irvine in the circuit court by a decree of 18 May 1829, upon a guarantee executed by Matthew Irvine, together with ROBERT BLAINE and JOHN CAROTHERS, by which they were bound, as security for the Harrisburg, Carlisle and Chambersburg turnpike road, for the payment of ten drafts, of $500.00 each, payable to JOHN P. HELFENSTINE, on account of a contract for making a part of the raod. Whereas, certain preferred creditors and William Scott, Michael Kimmel and Aldridge and Higdon are about to issue an execution against Matthew Irvine and he has reason to believe that his whole property will be sacrificed, the other individuals jointly bound with him being dead and insolvent, therefore, it shall be the duty of the court of Cumberland County, from time to time, to distribute the monies and the men involved shall jointly, within 6 months, execute a release from the payment and if they should neglect or refuse the release, then the court shall pay the money to Matthew Irvine, in the same manner as directed to be paid to the contractors. 4 Apr 1831. 213. An act authorizing the trustees of certain churches, to sell and convey real estate. That JOHN RHOADS, JACOB MICHLEY, CONRAD KENNEL, and THOMAS KERN, church wardens and trustees of the four United Churches of North Whitehall, South Whitehall, and borough of Northampton, Lehigh county, commonly called the Egyptian church, and the Union church of North Whitehall twp., the Jordan church, in South Whitehall twp., and the German reformed in teh borough of Northampton, are hereby authorized to sell and convey, two certain tracts of land situate in the county of Lehigh, one containing 25 acres, was convey to the church wardens of said churches by MICHAEL KERN and wife, by deed dated 6 Jun 1801, and the other containing 6 acres and 53 perches was conveyed to the church wardens by PETER RUMBEL by deed, dated 8 Apr 1814, and the deeds executed by said church wardens shall convey to the purchaser title of the churches. 4 Apr 1831. 214. A supplement to an act, approved 14 Apr 1828 entitled "An act authorizing the sale and conveyance of certain real estate." An act to annul the marriage contract between JOHN BONER and MARGARET BONER his wife. That the marriage contract entered into between John Boner and Margaret his wife, of Greene County, be and the same is hereby declared null and void, and the parties set free from all the obligations arising therefrom. 4 Apr 1831. 217. An act regulating the boroughs of Petersburg, in Huntingdon county, Erie in Erie county, Honesdale in Wayne county, Frankford in Philadelphia county, Stoystown in Somerset county, and the Northern Liberties of Pittsburg. That the western and northern boundary of Frankford borough are: beginning at lands late of JACOB SMITH and JOHN L. WILLIAMS, thence across the Oxford or Middle road, an on the line of lands late of THOMAS LEIPER, dec. and RICHARD WISTAR, north west on line of lands of Leiper and JOHN LARGE, thence on a line of Large, ENOCH TOMLINSON, HUGH M'KINLEY, and others, crossing Adams' road and land of GARDNER FULTON, between lands of Fulton and Frankford calico printing company, to the middle of Frankford or Tackony creek, to where present borough line intersects the creek. 4 Apr 1831. 218. An act for the relief of FRANCIS ROSS. The Canal Commissioner be hereby authorized and required to pay out of the internal improvement fund to Francis Ross, of the county of Crawford, the sum of $240.00, in full compensation for his damages for removing his buildings from the line of the French Creek feeder and for damages for said feeder of canal passing through his farm. 4 Apr 1831. 219. A supplement to the act to erect the town of Alexandria, Huntingdon county, into a borough. That the borough of Alexandria in Huntingdon county, is extended on the western side beginning at the southwest corner of HENRY NEFF's lot, to the lands of ZACHARIAH GEMMILL, dec. northward to Dorsey's road, to the present line of the borough. The borough of Milton, Northumberland county, is extended on the eastern side beginning at the corner of CHRISTOPHER WOODS' out lot, between the farm lately owned by DOCTOR JOHN S. DOUGAL, and the farm owned by JOSEPH STRAUB, thence along THOMAS FOLLMER's line, along PHILIP FOLLMER's line, thence along ANDREW FOLLMER's line to the road leading to Washington, thence along Andrew Follmer's line until it strikes SIMON FOLLMER's line, thence along the line until it strikes JOHN M. HOUSEL's line, along the line till it strikes the present line at MR. POLLOCK's farm. 4 Apr 1831. 224. A supplement to an act passed 5 Apr 1830, to issue patents to certain settlers, residing west and northof the rivers Ohio and Allegheny and Conewango creek. That the name of BARNABAS SCOTT in the act is hereby changed to BARNABAS SCULLY. 4 Apr 1831. 225. An act regulating election districts. That the electors of that part of Union twp., Berks county, adjoining the twp. of Robeson, opposite Hampton forge, thence to where the Joana road intersects the Hopewell road, to the house of GEORGE KELLER, down the Hopewell creek, to the farm of JOHN SWINEHART, thence to the county of Chester, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by HARMAN BEARD, Robeson twp. That the electors of Turkeyfoot twp, Somerset county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by COLONEL JOHN YOUNKIN. That the township of Union, Tioga county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by ELI M. NITT. That the township of Farmington, Tioga county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by CHANDLER CHAMBERLIN. That part of Wayne twp., Mifflin county, lying within the following boundaries: beginning at the Huntingdon county line, where it joins the Juniata river, near the house of SAMUEL WHARTON, thence northwest to the Beaver dam run, until it passes LUKENS ATKINSON's mill, thence to the Huntingdon county line, on the top of Jack's mountain, to Jack's narrows, to the Juniata river, down the river to the beginning, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by THOMAS POSTLETHWAIT. That the electors of the township of Rush, Schuylkill county, who formerly elected at the house of JOHN BRAUS, shall hereafter hold their elections at the house now occupied by JOHN SLEER. That part of Norwegian township, Schuylkill county, lying west beginning at the intersection of the West Branch of the river Schuylkill and Manheim townships, thence up the east side of the West Branch of Schuylkill, to its intersection with Barry twp., shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by DAVID BUCKWALTER, in the town of Minersville. That the qualified voters residing in the twps., of Norwegian and Schuylkill, Schuylkill county, shall hereafter be a separate election district: beginning between the twps. of Norwegain and Manheim, to the house now occupied by JOHN PENMAN, to the Norwegian church, thence to the farm house of F.B. NICHOLS ESQ., thence to the line between the townships of Norwegian and Barry, following a line of Barry and Rush, thence south to the Middleprt school house, to the division of Brunswick and Schuylkill townships, excluding the town of Newcastle, and the qualified voters shall hold their elections at the Port Carbon House in the town of Port Carbon. That the electors of the township of Sterling, Wayne county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by ABRAHAM S. HOWE. That the electors of the township of Preston, Wayne county, shall hold their elections at the house of PETER C. SHERMAN. That the electors of Moore twp., Northampton county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by SOLOMON SHEAFFER. That the township of Tuscarora, Bradford county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the school house, near JEREMIAH J. LEWIS's. That the electors of the Smithfield election district, Bradford county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by JABEZ. L. GEROULD. That the township of Rome, Bradford county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by PETER ALLEN. That the township of Granville, in Bradford county, shall be a separate election district and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by ELAM PARKHURST. That the electors of Windham twp., Bradford county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by EDMUND RUSSEL. That the electors of Sheshequin twp., Bradford county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by EBENEZER SHAW. That the electors of Wheatfield twp., Indiana county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by JAMES ELLIOTT, in the village of Armagh. That the electors of the township of Lower Mahonoy, Northumberland county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by GEORGE MOYER. That the electors of Londonderry twp., Bedford county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by JOHN MILLER. That the electors of Blockley twp., Philadelphia county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by JAMES HALLS. That the electors of the part of Juniata twp., Perry county, who now hold their elections at the house of JOHN KOCH, shall hold the same at the house now occupied by JOHN SIPE, in the village of Milford. That the electors of Beaverdam twp., Erie county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by DAVID WATERS. That the townships of Genessee, Oswego and Allegheny, Potter county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by CORNELIUS CANNON, in Allegheny twp. That part of Allegheny twp., Armstrong county, lying on one side of a line, beginning at the mouth of Cherry run, to the Kiskiminetas river, at the town of Warren, leaving the town in the upper district, to be called Kiskiminetas, shall be a separate election district and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by SOLOMON SHOEMAKER, and the remainder of the township shall also be a separate election district to be called Allegheny district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by PETER KLINGELSMITH (big). That the township of Elk, Warren county, shall be a separate election district, and the electors shall hold their elections at the school house, near the house now occupied by JONATHAN POUND. The electors of Dublin twp., Huntingdon county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by MATHEW TAYLOR JR. That the incorporated district of Spring Garden, Philadelphia county, shall be divided into three wards. The elections shall be held as follows: first ward, at the public house now occupied by DANIEL NEWMAN, in Eighth, near Willow St., for the second ward at the public house now occupied by WIDOW FOOT, in Callowhill, near Thirteenth st., for the third ward, at the public house now occupied by THOMAS MAGUIRE in Coates st., opposite the Penitentiary. That the citizens of the township of Hopewell, Huntingdon county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by DAVID SIMONTON. That Stony Creek twp., Somerset county, shall be a separate election district and the electors shall hold their elections in Shanksville, at the house now occupied by JACOB J. SHOBER. That the following part of Washington twp., Indiana county, beginning at the west end of the borough of Indiana, west to the place where Mc'Kee's road intersecting old state road, near JAMES THOMPSON's dwelling house, past CHRISTOPHER STUCHOLLS' to ____ M'KEE's mill, thence to the house of SAMUEL LEWIS, past the house of WIDOW DOUGHERTY, to the Green twp. line, shall form an election district. That the electors residing in Manheim twp., Schuylkill county, shall hold their elections at the house now occupied by MICHAEL FREEHAFER, at Schuylkill Haven. 4 Apr 1831. 234. A supplement to the act entitled "An act for the relief of JAMES DUFFY, a contractor for making the Hanover and Carlisle turnpike road." The Treasurer of the Hanover and Carlisle Turnpike Road Company shall pay into the court of common pleas, of Adams County, twice each year, April and Nov. all tolls received after deducting expenses. The act entitled "An act for the relief of James Duffy", passed 1 Apr 1823 is hereby altered and the same is repealed. 4 Apr 1831. RESOLUTIONS 1. Resolution relative to PETER LAWYER, a soldier of the revolutionary war. State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay Peter Lawyer, the annuity allowed to said Peter, in the same manner that it has heretofore been paid to his guardian. 4 Jan 1831. 4. Resolution relative to the Lancaster Phalanx. Whereas, a corps of volunteers, known by the name of the "Lancaster Phalanx," belonging to the Lnacaster city Battalion, commanded by MAJOR FREDERICK HAMBRIGHT, have for some time had in their custody a piece of ordnance, which in consequence of a recent decision of a board of officers, they have returned to the state arsenal, and whereas, the corps has performed two tours of duty in the public service, during the last war. Therefore, the piece of ordnance be returned to the Lancaster Phalanx, when required to do so by the Commander in Chief of the militia of this commonwealth. 1 Apr 1831. 12. Resolution relative to the compensation of the commissioners appointed to revise the civil code. That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized to pay in the usual manner, to the order of WILLIAM RAWLE ESQ., THOMAS I. WHARTON ESQ., and JOEL JONES ESQ., (commissioners appointed to revise the civil code) the sum of $500.00 each, and $200.00 to the order of William Rawle, for expenses. 4 Apr 1831.
