After remaining in the business one year he returned to Adams County, and engaged in the nursery business as traveling salesman, in which he remained two years, since when he has made farming his occupation. He owns the farm on which he now resides, and has himself accumulated the most of what he possesses. In 1875 he was married to Levina Hess, daughter of Jonathan Hess, a native of Fulton County, Penn.; she is of Scotch-Irish descent. Mr. and Mrs. Hill are members of the Presbyterian Church.
