Died, at Conewago Chapel about four miles from this borough, on Monday morning, 8th (?) inst., in consequence of a paralytic stroke, Rev. Adam Brit in the 81st year of his age. His remains were carried to the grave by the Rev. Brethren on the 9th inst., attended by a numerous concourse of people. Rev. Brit was a member of the (illegible word) of the Jesuits before its dissolution by Clement XIV but so great was his attachment to that body that no sooner was it restored by Pius VII than he immediately rejoined it. He was beloved by all who knew him. Sept. 25, 1822 Sentinel On Friday evening last, William Sturgeon of Oxford, was found dead on the road leading from this place to Oxford. He had reached this place the evening before, on his return home, it is supposed, owing to the darkness of the night, his horse had deviated from the road and succeeded in obtaining a high bank from which, by the horse stumbling, he was precipitated into the road and his neck dislocated. October 2, 1822 Sentinel Died, at his residence in Straban Twp., on the morning of the 23rd Sept., John Croft (or Craft), Sr., in the 63rd year of his age. In the early part of his life, he became a member of the Presbyterian Church after which, until the close of his life, he ever evinced by his conduct that he was a worthy member of the same. As a man, he was justly and generally esteemed. He was a most affectionate husband and father. His numerous relatives and friends will long and seriously lament the loss of so worthy a man. December 4, 1822 Sentinel Public Sale Farm and mills situated on Marsh Creek, Adams Co., five miles from Gettysburg, four miles from Emmitsburg. The farm lies in a bend of Marsh Creek, 150 acres, a considerable portion is bottom and meadow. The improvements are a convenient log dwelling house and kitchen, stone bank barn, young apple orchard. The mill house is 40’x45’, three stories high, containing two water wheels. There is also a saw mill partly new. The above is allowed to be the best on Marsh Creek.
