May 5, 1861 Mrs. Pricilla Cobean(?) Copens(?)—This venerable lady is no more. Yesterday, after a lengthy and eventful life, she has gone down to the grave “like a shock of corn cometh in, in his season”. The many virtues which adorned her character crowd upon the memory. For a period of nearly thirty years the writer of these lines enjoyed her friendship. During 17 years of this period, our relationship as pastor and parishioner were of the most intimate and tender kind; and in almost every point of view that I have observed her character, I considered her one of the finest specimens of Christian lady I ever knew. Uniformly dignified, but never affected; kind, affectionate and sympathizing in her disposition, she always commanded the respect of all who knew her.
