Those present were: David Little and wife, Holiday Newman and wife, Calvin Stavely and wife, Daniel Sheely and wife, John Milhimes and wife, Chas. Newman and wife, Hamilton Wintrode and wife, Gilbert Rudisill and wife, Jesse Milhimes and wife, I. N. Lightner and wife, Daniel Snyder and wife, Misses Annie Newman, Mary and Lillie Hoffman, Laura, Gertie and Emma Snyder, Lizzie Roeser, Mrs. Sentz, Mamie Wintrode, Alda Newman, Messrs, Levi Foulk, James and Edward Milhimes, Theo. Little, Jesse and Chas. Milhimes, Chas. Conover, John Milhimes, Thomas Newman, Wm. Wintrode, Conrad Deaner, Authur Newman, Dennis Newman, Chas. Snyder, Jesse Snyder, Adison Newman, John Stavely and Willis Sheely. Fountain Dale Notes – Miss Jennie Heyser, of Jacks Mountain, is visiting in Hagerstown. Mr. John Barton has his blacksmith shop under roof. Wednesday night, Jan. 30. Mr. Jere Miller met with what might have been a very serious accident. On returning home from seeing his “best” girl his horse became unmanageable in front of Cleremont Hotel and started down the mountain, at Monterey Station. Jere succeeded in turning him out of the road, thinking to get him checked; but unfortunately the sleigh was upset and threw Jere out. The horse ran out across the mountain with the sleigh. It was found the next morning at Mr. James Sander’s; neither Jere the horse or the sleigh being hurt. Menallen Items – Fillmore Peters has moved his sawmill to the farm of Jos. W. Bream, where he is engaged in sawing lumber for Mr. Bream’s new barn. The revival at Mt. Olivet, conducted by Rev. Weidler, is still in progress. Mr. Frank Bream, teacher of the Cranberry school, treated his scholars to a sled ride on last Thursday afternoon. They visited Gardner’s school taught by Miss Myers. Miss Lizzie Meals, who has been sick for the last four month, is able to be about again. A mule belonging to P. L. Houck, had a leg broken by being kicked by another mule. The animal had to be killed. Fairfield Items – The G. A. R. of Fairfield will have its next monthly Bean Soup on Saturday, the 9th of February. All are cordially invited. It is a common thing to hear people complain of a bad cold and bad cough. This is the kind of weather to take colds. Some of our children are having the hoping cough and pneumonia. Mrs. Harry Musselman and Mr. Charles Musselman, of this place, attended the funeral of their cousin, Mr. Herr, in Lancaster county. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Walter, of Fairfield Station, have been visiting their daughter, Mrs. W. G. Slifer, of Idaville. Mrs. C. A. Spangler, of this place, went to Baltimore last Monday with her little son Walter to have his eyes treated. Idaville Recordings – Mr. Thomas Yeigler, of Gardner’s Station on returning from this place last Sunday night, met with a serious accident. In stepping over the fence his foot slipped and he fell over the rails, striking himself in the side, which caused almost, if not a fatal stroke Dr. Myers is the attending physician. Prof. E. A. Kinter, while attempting to take a piece of wood out of the store stove struck his eye against the door of the stove which may cause his eye to be in permanent weakness.
