Mumper, the junior member had taken the entire stock and moved it here to Littlestown. The dissolution is correct, but the senior member of Mumper & Son retains all the furniture stock at Gettysburg, while Mr. Chas. Mumper has purchased an entire new stock for his Littlestown store. On the evening of Feb. 2nd Miss Carrie Patterson, of North Queen Street, entertained a sleighing party from Gettysburg. After spending the evening very pleasantly in social games, etc., luncheon was served. Miss Patterson accompanied them home. Those present were: Misses Ziegler, Kalbfleisch, Mumper, Briel, Shute; Messrs. Shriner, Biner, Diehl, Brubaker, Rank, Ritter; also Miss Brockley and Mr. Klingle of Littlestown. Mr. Benjamin Clouser, Sr., an aged resident of Union township this county died last Wednesday afternoon. He had been unwell for a long time, and a few days ago contracted a heavy cold, which was followed by pneumonia and resulting in his death. Mr. Clouser was about 80 years old. His death makes the third from Union township within a week, and all of them only a few miles apart. Mr. Jeremiah Unger of the same township has been ill for sometime and is now in a critical condition. Mr. John E. Pitzer drove a party of ladies from Gettysburg to this place in his large four-horse sled last Monday evening. They made their headquarters at the Central. An excellent turkey supper was served at 8 o’clock. Those comprising the party were: Mrs. Philip Bikle, Mrs. W. H. O’Neal, Miss Annie O’Neal, Mrs. S. McC Swope, Mrs. W. A. McClean, Mrs. Jesse Walter, Mrs. Sallie Cox, Mrs. Oscar Klinger, Mrs. J. L. Butt, Miss Olevia McClean, all of Gettysburg; Mrs. L. B. Wolf, of Guntur, India; Miss Mary Leber, of York, and Miss Minnie L. Cox, of New York. Mr. Clayton Myers, of this place, has been on the sick list for about a week. Mr. E. Wolford has the champion snow drift. It is thirteen feet deep. Mr. John Hemler, the popular bar-tender of our hotel, is again at his post, having been absent on a sick leave. Two of Mr. John Kuhn’s children are on the sick list. The ice on the Conewago creek is reported being 20 inches in thickness. Peter Lease and Chas. Rickrode spent Thursday and Friday in town. Dr. Daniel Plank V. S., of York Springs, was in town last week. Hampton Jottings – Hampton, Feb. 15 – Rev. Welsh, Reformed minister of York, will hold services in the Union church at this place on Sunday morning at 10 o’clock. Miss Rachel Chronister is visiting friends at East Berlin. Miss Hollinger and Mr. Gise of Table Rock, were the guests of Lewis Chronister last Friday. On last Saturday morning, Miss Annie Haverstock, who is living at Mr. Richardson’s of near this place, whilst taking the ashes out of the stove, her clothes caught fire, and she was seriously burned before the fire could be extinguished. She is under the care of Dr. A. Myers, of this place. She is doing about as well as can be expected. We hope she may soon recover.
