Aaron Schlosser is doing the work. H. W. Trostle shipped to the city 31 crates of eggs in three days last week. About 50 friends and relatives met at the home of Wm. Funt and family, to celebrate his 60th birthday. Prof. E. E. Taylor and family, of Littlestown, spent several days here last week. Filmore Peters is sawing shingles at Howard Funt and A. D. Taylor’s. His saw mill is sawing a lot of lumber for Ira Taylor. Geo. Freed is having his house painted. E. Sheely is doing the work. Union Township Items – Sells Station, Apr. 24 – Mr. Henry Geady, of Bel Air, Md., was visiting at Mrs. John Byers’ recently. Luther and Elva Slifer, of Silver Run, Md., paid a visit to Mr. Wm. Weisensale and family recently. Mr. Geo. P. Black, of Barlow, was the guest of Ezra C. Bachman last Sunday. One of Mr. L. P. Bachman’s hens laid an egg that measures 4 x 6 inches in circumference. Mr. B. would like to hear from some one who can beat it. Mr. David Boose, of Silver Run, Md., was visiting Miss May Weisensale last Sunday. Rm. Jeremiah Frock and son have improved part of the cemetery of Christ church with a fine fence. The framers are busy with their spring work. Some have begun planting corn and others are plowing. Bonneauville Items – Bonneauville, April 24 – The farmers are all busy sowing oats and plowing their corn ground. L. C. Myers is planting sweet corn and peas for market. Some of the wheat fields look pretty well and may yield a fair crop, but there are some that look very bad. John Yohn, of Hanover, visited Henry Olinger on Sunday last. F. I. Dun, Lucian Heltzel and families visited H. Heltzel on last Sunday. Ida Weaver, of Hunterstown, paid H. Groft a visit on Sunday. J. A. Neol and wife spent last Sunday with F. A. Noel. One of Ambrose Schmidt’s best mules died recently. Mr. Daniel Spangler was buried at Salem U. B. church on Monday. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Mr. Spangler was one of Mt. Pleasant’s best citizens. Newsy Bendersville – Bendersville, Apr. 24 – The Orthodox Friends, of this place, held their Quarterly Meeting on Saturday and Sunday last. The services were very interesting, and quite a number of visitors were present. The speakers were, Mrs. Andrews, and Mrs. Thomas, of Darlington, Md., Messrs. Allen Thomas, John Thomas, Mrs. Mary McCollough and Miss Ida Jones, of Baltimore, Md., Mr. Samuel Neive and Mrs. Tatum, of Annapolis, Md. Rev. Straub delivered an eloquent sermon, to a crowded audience last Sunday evening. Mr. Harry Quigley, who has been ill since his arrival to this town, is able to be about again. Mrs. Shriver, of Harrisburg, formerly of this place, is spending a few days with friends at this place. Messrs. Isaac Tudor, Howard Gardner and John Tudor, of York Springs, were in our town on Sunday. Harry Weaner, of Carlisle, Pa., who has been visiting for the past week at Mrs. Asper’s, on High street, has returned to his home. Chas. Timmons, of Gettysburg, was in this place on Tuesday last. Miss Mae Gardner spent Sunday here. Her many friends were glad to see her. Adam Burkholder, of Harrisburg, is visiting friends in the vicinity. Mr. S. B. Gochnaur, our new enterprising store-keeper, is doing a rushing business. Among the many attractions to the fair sex, is the handsome young clerk. A forest fire has been raging for several days in the South Mountain near Georgetown. The Sheriff levied on all the personal property of Andy Christ, merchant of Idaville. The sale began Thursday to continue until all of the goods are sold. We are always glad to see Sheriff McIllhenny’s smiling face, but are sorry that he has so much official business in this locality. Fountain Dale Items – Fountain Dale, Apr. 24 – Miss Mary Smith, of Fairfield, visited friends in the Dale a few days this week. Franklin Wolf visited at Thurmont over last Sunday.
