Taughinbaugh has his large saw-mill in running order and can saw logs forty feet long. Geo. Little and wife attended the funeral of Mrs. John Plank, at Hampton on Tuesday, March 3d. New Oxford Items – Mr. J. G. Gitt and wife are slowly convalescing. The Building and Loan Association’s first series expired last Saturday. Efforts are being made to organize a second series, as the first one was very satisfactory. There is considerable sickness in and around Oxford, but no one seriously ill. John Topper, of Thurmont, and W. Fink, of Taneytown, visited our popular and genial landlord, Wm. Topper, of the Columbus Hotel. Bert Treiber and wife, returned from Kentland, Ind., after a year’s absence, and will locate at Eichelberger’s Mill, near town. Several of our citizens attended the Inauguration at Washington. Our enterprising manufacturer, John Weaver, shipped to-day about five tons of gutter plates to Taneytown, in fulfillment of contract of said borough. Misses Fannie Steffie and Nina Livers visited the Eichelberg Academy last Friday. Hampton Items – Hampton, Mch. 5 – Mrs. Margaret Plank, died at her home in this place on Sunday, of Pneumonia, aged 73 years 4 months and 4 days. Interment in the Union cemetery at this place on Wednesday, Rev. Ketner officiating. The pall bearers were Messrs. Reuben Sipe, Philip Fickes, Daniel Myers and Adam Miller. Rev. Heimer, of New Oxford, was the guest of Mr. P. C. Hoffman’s on Tuesday. Mrs. Susan Chronister, who was spending some time with friends in Maryland, returned home on Saturday. Mrs. Wierman, of Wierman’s mill, was the guest of her mother, Mrs. C. Myers, on Saturday and Sunday.
