Stover took Jacob Sheely’s horse, hitched to Andrew Wisler’s Dayton wagon to go to McKnightstown Station and bring back some parties that had gone on the excursion to Baltimore, and as the train started away from the station, the horse became frightened. Mr. Stover held on to the animal until the bridle tore, then he had to let it go. The horse ran to McKnightstown, then to Cashtown and Hilltown, and was caught a half mile east of the latter place, by Harry Hartman and George Geyer. One shaft was broken off and the other one cracked, the wagon being not injured otherwise; the harness was torn somewhat. A lucky run off.
