At the regular argument court on last Monday, before their honors S. McC. Swope and Associate Judges Geo. H. Trostle and C. D. Smith, the following current business was disposed of. The accounts of executors and administrators as advertised were confirmed. John M. Linn and E. J. Naugle were appointed appraisers to appraise and set apart property for use of Mary E. Spence, widow of James Spence, late of Franklin township, deceased. C. Roy Plank was appointed constable of Cumberland township to fill unexpired term of Samuel B. Vaugh, the duly elected constable who declined to accept the office. Widow’s list under $500 law in estate of George Waldkirsch, late of Latimore township, was filed and approved. John J. Meals and V. H. Meals were discharged as executors of the last will of Solomon Meals, late of Tyrone township. Authority was granted Henry Kinneman, executor of will of Mandilla Kinneman, to sell house and lot in Abbottstown and bond for same was approved. An order of sale was granted to D. D. Schriver to sell the farm of Jeremiah Schriver, 135 acres in Straban township, and bond for same was approved. Reuben W. Slaybaugh was recently appointed guardian of Carrie May, James Floyd, Rebecca J. and Mabel E. Slaybaugh, minor children of Clayton Slaybaugh, late of Butler township, dec’d and bonds were approved. Geo. W. Peters was recently appointed guardian of Wm. J., Anna R., Lloyd and Ira C. Mummert, minor children of John Mummert, dec’d, and bonds were approved. Reuben W. Slaybaugh and Geo. W. Peters, guardians as above set out, were authorized to join in the sale of the real estate of Wm. H. Slaybaugh, dec’d, make by the adult heirs to the widow Rebecca Slaybaugh. Wm. M. Shank was discharged as the administrator of estate of Geo. A. Shank, late of Tyrone township, dec’d. E. G. Ross who allowed to pay into Court the sum of $1210.03, amount of a recognizance charged upon his farm, under partition proceedings, the said sum belonging to heirs of Jesse Starner, the original parties being all dead and their heirs widely separated and some unknown. Arishia G. Rice, executrix of will of Belfora Heller, late of Bendersville, was allowed to pay into Court share of Anna Allen of $61.07 and Daisy McGrail, $20.35, their whereabouts being unknown, and upon such payment to be discharged as executrix. Authority was given Anthony Deardorff, guardian of James Scott Wolford, to use the funds of ward in his hands $176 for education of the ward. The account of Geo. Meckley, guardian of Samuel H. Gilliland, minor child of Lucinda V. Gilliland, late of Kansas, dec’d, was approved and he was ordered to be discharged upon paying balance of $333.80 to his ward. The coroner’s jury reporting that Samuel Reichard came to his death by hanging himself to a rafter in his chicken house, as reported in a late issue of this paper, was approved. The return of sale of real estate of James M. Hahn, late of Cumberland township, to Geo. L. McDannell for $550 after being bid up to $350 at the public sale was confirmed. An order of sale was granted to George Meckley, assignee of Jacob Smith to sell the assigned real estate, house and lot in Heidlersburg and a farm of 359 acres in Tyrone township. Jacob Guise and W. A. Taughinbaugh were appointed appraisers in assigned estate of Herbert F. Hamme and Henry D. Hamme, in hands of their assignee John S. Trone. County Auditor’s report of County Commissioners, County Treasurer, County Sup’t and Almshouse officers were filed in open court. The return of sale of J. L. Williams, assignee of E. D. Hudson, of the Fairfield property to Pius A. Miller for $7700 and the Round Top property to Wm. H. Tipton for $1000 was confirmed. The application of Wm. R. Lauver to have George Lauver adjudged of feeble mind and guardian appointed was presented to Court and hearing fixed for April 22. Charter was granted to the Fountaindale Cornet Band of the County of Adams. Several arguments were heard and disposed of. The rule in Quarter Sessions to show cause why the order of maintenance of $1 per week to Susannah Eckenrode should not be stopped was discharged which leaved the order of maintenance in force. In the Common Pleas the motion for judgment of nonsuit in case of use of Susannah Eckenrode vs. Samuel Eckenrode, Marks Bream and Wm. M. Bowers, was refused, which allows the case of wife to stand in which she sues to recover her maintenance. The motion to take off nonsuit in case of Dr. Henry W. Schwartz vs. Mary A. and Oliver A. Smith was withdrawn, ending litigation in this case. F. A. Asper of Menallen township, Henry Hemler of Mountpleasant township and Oscar D. McMillan, of Gettysburg borough, were appointed viewers for a bridge over little Marsh creek at place where road leading from Knoxlyn to Orrtanna crosses said creek. Order was made allowing Ed. A. Weaver, committee of Elizabeth Rimbaugh, $200 for support of said Elizabeth Rimbaugh to Jan. 1st, 1905
