Hartzell, spent Sunday with Mr. Edward Biddle and family. Misses Bessie and Elsie Walters spent several days at Gettysburg this week. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rebert visited York Springs friends on Saturday. Mr. Norman Reynolds, of Harrisburg, spend several days at his home this week. Mr. Wm. Grogg, and daughter, Miss Mae, were in York on Saturday. Mrs. Bortner, Spring Grove, spent several days this week with Mr. Moses Bowser and family. Mrs. Elizabeth Wehler, residing with her son-in-law, Mr. Reynolds and family, of Reading township, is critically ill. Mr. Samuel Miller is clerking in A. B. Mummert’s store. Miss Fannie Bushey, who has been ill for some time, we are glad to learn is convalescing. Mr. Peter Eisenhart and wife, and Mrs. Lewis Bupp are spending a week in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington. Mr. Henry Wagner, formerly of this place, but now of York, has been circulating among old friends in town and vicinity. Messrs. Ned and Walter Resser and families, and Chas. Baker and family, all of York, were in town this week attending the funeral of their uncle, Dr. Wolf. Mr. U. L. Gladfelter is remodeling the carriage house building which he purchased from Myers & Spangler, and will move his wrapper factory into it in the near future. Dr. Raub Meisenhelder, of Hanover, formerly of this place, is quite ill with pneumonia. A protracted meeting had been in progress in the Evangelical church at this place for several nights, but owing to the lack of interest by the people and poor attendance, it closed on Tuesday evening. There will be regular preaching service on Sunday evening, Nov. 19th, by the pastor, Rev. Price. Miss Laura Spangler was in Gettysburg several days attending the C. E. convention, being sent as a delegate from the Reformed church of this place. Mr. A. B. Mummert is improving his house and store property with a coat of paint. Mrs. Jacob Wise died at the residence of her son, Cornelius Wise, on Lewis Bosserman’s farm, in Reading township, on Tuesday and was buried at the Bermudian Reformed church on Thursday morning, Rev. Spangler, officiating. The deceased was aged 79 years. Adams County Independent – Saturday, November 18, 1905
