Master Clare Heilman spent several days in Hanover this week. Mr. Wm. Gipe, of York, was in town on Tuesday. Mr. Robert Lau, of the Baltimore Medical College, was in Berlin on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Martin attended the funeral of the latter’s grandmother, Mrs. Mary Eyster Longanecker. She was buried at Friends Grove church. Mr. Henry Raffensperger, of Bowlder, was in town last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Brown returned on last Thursday from the Baltimore Hospital. Both had operations performed and are much improved. Mrs. Lydia Thoman, of York, formerly of Abbottstown, died at the York Hospital on Sunday. She was brought to this place and a short service and burial was held at Mummert’s Meeting House. She was a niece of Mr. John Jacobs, of this place. Mrs. William Jacobs died on Thursday and was buried at Mummert’s Meeting House on Sunday morning. Rev. C. L. Baker officiating. She was a stepmother of Mr. Jno. Jacobs, of this place. She was aged 87 years, 10 months and 8 days. John Wonders, of Bermudian, died Dec. 11th. He was aged 67 years, 8 months and 11 days. The funeral was held last Thursday and interment made at the Barnes church, Rev. Fox officiating. Mr. Geo. Jacobs, who has the contract for putting the steam heating apparatus in the Sunday House, expects to have it completed ??? Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. David Fissel, of Hampton, were in town one day recently. BUCHANAN VALLEY Miss Bertha McKenrick has returned home after spending a few months in Gettysburg. Mr. Francis X. Drachbar, spend Sunday with James McElwee, of Big Flat. Hon. Francis Cole, Sr. and Miss Mary Bart are very ill at this writing. MT. TABOR Mrs. Charles Yengst, who has been on the sick list for some time, is improving at this writing. Smiling Cupid has been piercing the hearts of some of our young people with his keen edged arrow. One of the results was a very pretty wedding which was solemnized at Wenksville on Tuesday evening, Dec. 12th, the contracting parties being Mr. Harry Snyder, of this place, and Miss Hettie Taylor, of West Point. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Edw. Bierley, pastor of the M. E. church. These young people have a large circle of friends who join in wishing them a happy journey over life’s pathway. Mr. Geo. Toner, of this place, and Miss Mary Gates, of near Bendersville, were united in marriage Saturday evening of last week. We extend our congratulations. Mr. Melvin Baish, of the C. V. S. N. S., Shippensburg, is spending his Christmas vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett Baish. Miss Harriet Little has been suffering with very sore eyes for some time past. Miss Blanche McBeth, of the C. V. S. N. S., of Shippensburg, is spending her vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. McBeth. Mr. Edward Gulden, of Missouri, is spending several weeks with his parents. Mr. John Biesecker sold his live stock Saturday of last week and will move to Hanover in the near future. Mr. Fillmore Peters has sold the tract of timber containing 2 acres on Big Hill, to Chas.
