Delone, Esq., Disposes of Woodlands and Property in Adams Co. On Monday afternoon C. J. Delone, Esq., sold at public sale in front of the Central hotel, in this place, the following tracts of woodland: Tract No. 1 – Situate in Berwick township, Adams county, containing 10 acres and 48 perches. Purchased by Charles H. Bittinger at $177.50. Tract No. 2 – Situate in Union township, Adams county, containing 4 acres and 47 perches. Purchased by D. E. Winebrenner, Jr., at $356. Also, two tracts of Improved real estate were sold as follows: Tract No. 1 – Situate in Mt. Rock, Mountpleasant township, Adams Co., improved with a two-story frame dwelling, and larger frame cigar factory, containing about 24 perches of land. Purchased by J. W. Gitt at $920. Tract No. 2 – Situate in Irishtown, Oxford township, Adams county, improved with a one-story frame cigar factory. Purchased by J. W. Gitt at $221. S. H. Crawford, Jr., was the auctioneer. L. Johns, the Well-Known Leaf Tobacco Dealer and Cigar Manufacturer of That Place. One of the largest sales of real estate in this vicinity took place last Saturday when more than a score of properties in McSherrystown, formerly belonging to S. L. Johns, were sold at public sale by C. J. Delone, Esq. While most of the houses were plain frame structures, they were sold at a sacrifice. Hundreds of men, with a number of women, attended the sale. S. H. Crawford, Jr., was the auctioneer. The properties were sold as follows: Tract No. 1 – Large two-story brick dwelling, No. 138 Main street, 54 x 178 ft. to J. W. Gitt at $1,430. Tract No. 2 – Large two-story frame dwelling, No. 604 Main street, 70 x 185 ft., to J. W. Gitt at $450. Tract No. 3 – Two-story frame dwelling, Nos. 600 and 602 Main street, 36 x 183 ft., to J. W. Gitt at $380. Tract No. 4 – Two-story frame dwelling, with baker shop, No. 357 Main street, 37 x 216 ft., to George F. Eckenrode, the tenant, at $4,350.
