McSHERRYSTOWN, Nov. 17. – That the epidemic of diphtheria now raging here is not yet under control, in spite of the closing of St. Mary’s Parochial school, was proven by the quarantining of four more homes over Saturday. All of the new cases reported are those of children in the following homes: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swope, Edward Stevens and Marcellus Staub, all of Main street, and J. W. Keffer, Fourth street. But as in the case of all those now affected with the disease the cases are mild, and all those down with the disease, are recovering nicely. The schools, which were to have been opened Monday morning, did not open until Wednesday. Dr. C. G. Crist, Gettysburg, health physician of Adams county, has again been called in to look the situation over and unless the epidemic soon shows signs of abatement, it may be found necessary to put the entire town under quarantine to relieve the situation. The town does not seem alarmed and the authorities are hopeful of a change.
