Miss Margaret Shorb, of Rocky Ridge, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Wm. M. Ohler, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Koons spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Sarah Koons, at Keymar. Mrs. Edward Winters, Mrs. Burgess S. Miller and Mrs. Mary McGulgan spent Tuesday in Hanover. Mrs. Norville P. Shoemaker received word on Monday of the death of her brother, Mr. Carroll Lambert, of New Windsor. Mr. Lambert is well known in this place. Mrs. Margaret Stott, Miss Clara Brining and Miss M. Louise Reindollar left for Washington on Wednesday. Mrs. Harvey Fouke went to Baltimore on Tuesday to consult an eye specialist. BOYD’S ITEMS Miss Lucille Cole and Messrs. Joseph and John Oyler spent Sunday with Ernest Bittinger and family. Mrs. William Warren and son Lewis, of Wenksville, and Mrs. H. S. Hess, of Gettysburg, spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. David Showers. Miss Lucille Cole spent Saturday evening with Mr. Hanson Oyler and family. Recent visitors with Reuben Showers and family were: Miss Eva Warren, Fred Showers, and Edgar Showers. Those who spent Sunday with Reuben Showers and family were: Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lobaugh and children Ira, Verna, Maybell and Russel, Hiram Showers, Robert Martin and Edgar Showers, Misses Annie and Margie Warren. Mrs. David Showers is seriously ill. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. David Showers were: Mrs. Fred Showers, Mrs. Wilby Tuckey, Mrs. Elmer Lobaugh, and Charles McCauslin, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Showers and daughter Minnie. Elmer Lobaugh and son Ira spent Saturday in Bendersville. Samuel Dunlap spent Sunday with Mr. Charles McCauslin and family. Ira and Verna Lobaugh were recent visitors with S. A. Dunlap and family. BIGLERVILLE ITEMS Biglerville, Feb. 23. – The Woman’s Missionary Society of St. Paul’s Lutheran church held a reception at the home of Rev. and Mrs. S. F. Tholan, last Friday afternoon. They recently conducted a campaign for new members, securing ten ladies, and it was for these the reception was given. Mr. and Mrs. John Bream spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Fillmore Bream. S. G. Bigham has returned from a business trip to Pittsburgh. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Stine and son Eugene spent the week-end with C. J. Fohl and family. Mrs. Chloe Asper spent the week-end at her home near York Springs. The Biglerville Band staged a very successful home talent play in Thomas Brothers Hall on Saturday night. It was a comedy in three acts, “All a Mistake,” and the large audience was kept in a gale of laughter from the time the curtain rose. Between the acts there was a duet by Mrs. Stine and Earl Fohl, several songs by a male chorus and a reading by Miss Edrie Fidler. The play was under the direction of Orle Nary, and the committee in charge: Nile Thomas, Earl Fohl, and Ori Nary. While all accounts are not yet closed they are confident they have cleared over $75. The members of the cast were: Misses Belva Fohl, Hope Bream, Edrie Fidler and Mrs. Earl Fohl, Edwin Rice, Nile Thomas, Earl Fohl and John Fidler. The pianist was Miss Edna Ullrich. ABBOTTSTOWN ITEMS Abbottstown, Feb. 23. – Born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Staub, of Paradise township, Friday, a son. From the results of a fall which he received last week, George Hartman, residing with his grandson, William Hartman, Berwick township, is confined to bed. Mr. Hartman, who is 87 years old and fairly active for his age, fell while going from the house to the mill. No bones were broken by the fall, but the shock and contusions received are causing him much pain. Edward Sowers’ public sale of farm stock and implements in Paradise township, last Saturday, amounted to $989.87. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kinneman spent Saturday with their son, William Kinneman and wife, of Hanover. Mrs. Mary Chronister and Mrs. Loretta Kahlbaugh spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Chronister, near Hanover. Miss Sarah Wagaman, York, spent Saturday and Sunday here with her sister, Mrs. Charles W. Chronister, and family. Mr. and Mrs. George W. Steffan and daughter Beatrice, New Oxford, were guests of Mrs. Steffan’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Miller, on Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Rutter and son Arthur, of East Berlin, were guests of Mrs. Rutter’s grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Mummert, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Cleason E. Smith and family, of East Berlin, were guests of Mrs. Smith’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Berkheimer, on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rodgers and young son, of Cross Keys, were guests of Mr. Rodgers’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Rodgers, Sunday.
