About 500 were in attendance. Those attending came from East Berlin, York, Spring Grove, Hanover, Glen Rock, Harrisburg, Baltimore, Gettysburg, Dover, Red Lion, Frederick, Maryland, Philadelphia, Lancaster, Lititz, York Springs and many other localities. The program of the day consisted of community singing, devotional exercises conducted by the Rev. S. K. Jacobs, Spring Grove; addresses by the Rev. Donald Mummert, Harrisburg; the Rev. Charles L. Baker, East Berlin, and others. Selections by the male chorus of the Church of the Brethren, of York, featured. An interesting description of the Mummert family circle was given by Jacob Mummert, York, showing the descendants of the early Mummert settlers who came to America in the early seventeen hundreds. The following officers were elected: President, Ervin S. Mummert, Hanover; vice president, Eugene Mummert, York; secretary, Mrs. E. S. Wolf, Harrisburg; treasurer, William Mummert, East Berlin; historian, Jacob Mummert, York. The remainder of the day was spent in the renewing of old and making new acquaintances. It was decided to hold the 1927 reunion at the same place. The grove in which they met is owned by Daniel Mummert who extended an invitation to meet there again. The meeting opened at 11 a.m. when a temporary organization was effected by the appointment of the Rev. Donald Mummert as chairman and Birdes A. Jacobs as secretary. The latter gave a historical report in the afternoon and exhibited an old Martin Luther Bible which was at one time the property of Mathias Mummert, early settler of this clan. Mrs. Ernest S. Wolf, Harrisburg, also spoke. A dinner was served at 12:30 o’clock. The oldest member present was Edward Mummert, aged 79 years and eight months, and the youngest, Gloria Lucille Mummert, aged six weeks and two days. The Gettysburg Times – Thursday, August 19, 1926
