A corps of speakers made the program and proceedings rendered one of interest and instruction. Irvin Mummert, a prominent business man, of Hanover, presided over the rendition of the program. The Rev. Donald Mummert, of Harrisburg, made a pleasing address of welcome which was ably replied to by George W. Baker, of Abbottstown. After luncheon, Prof. Thomas, assistant superintendent of the Harrisburg schools, made an address on Patriotism, Character and Home Life, after which Jacob Mummert, of York, gave a good general talk. Next Prof. Cletus Mummert, of Illinois, son of Richard Mummert, president of Huntington college, of that state, spoke of the Mummert clan in that section of Illinois, at the conclusion of which, Mrs. Emma Wolf, of Harrisburg, gave some new and interesting facts as to the early history of the clan. The last speaker, Birdes A. Jacobs, of East Berlin, then spoke on the ties that bound and interwove the Jacobs and Mummert families. The same officers forming the organization last year was re-elected the coming year and Mummert’s grove was again selected as the place for meeting in 1928, August 5th being chosen as the time.
