The clan adopted a motion to request the Hamilton township school board to deed the land on which is situated the schoolhouse, known as Mummert’s to the Mummert’s Church of the Brethren in the even that the schoolhouse is ever abandoned, should the schools of the townships be consolidated. Because of the sacredness of this ground to the Mummert family, Mrs. E. S. Wolf, Harrisburg, proposed that this motion be passed. She said the land on which the school building stands, was deeded to the school district of Hamilton township by Mathias Mummert, probably more than a century ago. The school and grounds are situated adjacent to the Mummert Church of the Brethren, land on which the church and the cemetery are situated also was given by Mathias Mummert. The motion made by Mrs. Wolf passed unanimously by about 200 persons voted on the question. The members of the clan stated that they have no interest in the school building itself, but the land on which it stands, they feel should revent to the original name. All new officers were elected with the exception of the historian. The officers elected are here given: President, Luther M. Mummert, Mason-Dixon R. D. 1; vice-president Ellis Kendall, Blue Ridge Summit; secretary, Rev. C. A. Mummert, Greencastle; historian, Jacob Mummert, Menges Mill; and treasurer, Isaac Mummert, East Berlin; a note of thanks was accorded the retiring officers, all of whom served since the clan was organized 10 years ago. The new secretary is a former president of Huntingdon college, Huntingdon, Ind. He is now bishop of the Church of the Brethren. A brief address was given by the historian, in which he appealed to all members of the clan to give detailed information as to their families, so he can complete his records. He also spoke briefly on the historical significance of the Mummert school house to the clan. The first Mummert to arrive in America settled on land on which the school house stands. An interesting address was given by W. W. Eisenhart, Tyrone, Pa. Mr. Eisenhart is superintendent of schools at Tyrone.
