Poist Married 50 Years Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Poist, McSherrystown, were guest of honor at a reception in the Victory Restaurant, Hanover, Sunday tendered by their children in observation of their golden wedding anniversary. They were married Oct. 4, 1906 by Rev. Augustus Reudter in the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They began housekeeping at their present home, which they have occupied ever since. For a number of years the front room in their home was quarters for the McSherrystown post office. Poist, who served as postmaster 35 years, retired seven years ago. He served as secretary of McSherrystown Lodge 720 Loyal Order of Moose, for 21 years, and as secretary of the McSherrystown Fire Company for 18 years. Poist also is a past grand knight of Hanover Council 871 Knights of Columbus. Last Thursday he was a guest of honor of the Conewago Lions Club at a "This is Your Life" program. He is a past president of the club. Poist, son of the late William and Agnes Small Poist, McSherrystown, and his wife Adah Edna Swartzbaugh, daughter of the late Levi and Nancy Swartzbaugh, Hanover are in good health. They were presented with $50 by their eight children and 50 golden pennies by their 13 grandchildren. A three-tier cake topped with a golden bell was the center piece of the reception table. Their children are: Mrs. Milton Sterner, Hanover: Mrs. Cletus Krumrine, Westminster R.2; Rodney Poist, Pittsburgh; Ralph Poist, Bel Air, MD; J. Albert Poist, McSherrystown; Richard F. Poist, Hanover; Mrs. Vincent Walter, South Lebanon, O., and William Poist, Moorestown, N.J.
