M. J. Alleman, a widely known Lutheran clergyman, died at her home in Littlestown, Thursday night at 11:50 o’clock. Death was the result of the infirmities of old age. She was sick only a week, and her condition was not regarded as serious, until Thursday, when she gradually grew worse. The deceased is survived by one daughter, Miss Kate Alleman, of York; and three sons, John Alleman, of Frederick, Md.; David B. Alleman, of Littlestown; and Prof. Gellert Alleman, of Swarthmore, near Philadelphia. Also by three step- children, Miss Sue Alleman, of York; Postmaster Luther M. Alleman, of Littlestown, and William S. Alleman, of Hanover. Mrs. Alleman resided in Hanover for a number of years, during which her husband was pastor of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church, and later organized St. Mark’s church, and served as the first pastor. Funeral Monday, May 19th, at 2 p.m., at the home in Littlestown. Interment in Mt. Olivet cemetery, this place. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, May 24, 1913
