Henry Clay Bishop, for many years a well known figure in Adams county, died at the home of his brother, Samuel Bishop in Carroll county Md., Dec. 30, from kidney trouble. His age was about 62 years. Mr. Bishop was a native of Maryland, but for a long time resided in Adams county. He resided at Natural Dam, a favorite camping site, and many friends among the persons who took annual outing trips to that place. Perhaps he was best known as a witch doctor, and there were even some who believe in his power of witchery, to such an extent that they sought his advice and he practiced in many parts of the county. In recent years he has had no fixed place of abode, but wandered about at his leisure. He was taken sick several weeks ago at the home of Chester Shoemaker, Mt. Joy township and was later removed to the home of his brother in Carroll county where he died. During his life he has traveled about this section considerably, making the majority of his journey on foot. The Hanover Herald – Saturday, January 15, 1916
