Andrew Brough was born on a farm near East Berlin, December 18th, 1817. Reared as a farmer, he was actively engaged in that vocation until 1875, when he retired and moved to the house where he died. He was married January 16th, 1845, to Miss Eve Harbold, who died June 20th, 1846. From this union one daughter was born, who now is Mrs. Jacob L. Leas, of near East Berlin. January 17th, 1850, he was married to Miss Catharine A. Arnold, who survives him. To them two children were born, John H. Brough, of Hanover, and O. Alice, who died June 26th, 1890. Deceased was one of the most widely known and highly respected citizens of that section. For many years he was a member of the German Baptist Brethren church. He looked forward to the end with the blessed hope that he was entering into eternal rest. Truly his end was peace. The funeral took place on Sunday morning, at 10 o’clock, from the house. Services at Mummert’s meeting house, near East Berlin, where interment was made. Revs. Orville V. Long and Peter Brown officiated. Gettysburg Compiler – Tuesday, November 1, 1898
